Make the detour! Amazing wines ahead! Definitely try the blackberry port. So smooth.

Coming from California this winery was way not regular. None of that fancy adobe buildings and gift shops. We would probably completely miss it if not for the recommendation from BS’s welcome center. But the wines there are great. They use the wild berries from the local forests. All sorts of berries from blueberries to rose hips. The wines are very unique with unusual tastes and aromas. Just a bit of trivia: the name of this winery — Kermode — is the name of the ‘spirit bear’ — a subspecies of of the American Black Bear living in the central and north coast of British Columbia, Canada.

Simple and off the not-so-beaten track lies a plain wooden building holding the best wines ever! We were on a little adventure to Harrison Lake when we saw the winery sign. It would be rude not to check it out, we figured, so down a dirt road we went. Boy are we glad we did! We sampled various wines(they specialize in blackberry) but the standout was the Himalayan Blackberry. Lovestruck, we bought a few bottles for $ 12 each and then went on our way. Since then we’ve kicked ourselves because the wine is only sold in select stores and costs upwards of $ 20! Seriously great wine and a fun little hole in the wall spot to check out.
