Like an aging beach beauty still clinging to an island lifestyle, Beach Bumms has been getting baked in the same strip mall location for decades, and is really showing it’s age. From the Tiki hut style to the peeling wallpaper, the original 1990s signage to the low tech rooms and lack of a website, one can see that this business feels no need to upgrade or maintain an image outside that which has worked for years. That or the owner is more inclined to spend money on magic exercise machines or voodoo medicine doodads than do renos to the business. But never mind all that, Beach Bumms is still a fine place to get a tan, and there is never any trouble with drop-ins, unlike Fabutan which told me I’d have to wait a week. Terry and Alice have run the show here in the same spot since the beginning, and have plenty of expertise and experience. Customer service is great and despite all the«alternative» products on display, there is never any sales pitch or pressure, just a polite welcome. And despite the place looking like a cheesy Hawaiian beach village, the rooms and tanning beds are kept very clean. Far from fancy but reasonably priced and 100% A-OK in my books.

I love Beach Bumms. The staff is warm and friendly. It’s sad but true, many people simply want an anonymous cog experience, the giant grocery store of tanning if you will. Beach Bumms offers a bunch of good services, lay down, stand up, and non-UV tans. I personally only use the lay down. Despite moving across town they remain the studio of choice for my wife and I

So I use to go here until I discovered a new place just down the road. Its a nice mom and pop shop but a creepy vibe is given when I’m there. I undestand the questions they ask and what not, everyplace asks that, but they start delving into everything. Way way too many personal questions. Inside is super tacky. I could imagine if there was a Gordon Ramsey equivalent for tanning studios he would tear this place down and redecorate. I dont think the beds were all tha t good too, music was a set station. So woould I go back? no… I have a whole bunch of minutes there use them if you want, you wont see me in there again.

Love it! It is the only tanning place I will ever go too. Terry & Alice are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. If you are a first timer, they ask you a series of questions to help you know what type of skin you have and where it is at and how to get best tanning results. They care about you and your skin. I find that their beds are the best, your tan seems to last longer then other places. They do have stand up, and regular beds. Edmonton’s best hidden tanning secret! These 2 people are very passionate about their business.

Before I left for the Dominican last year, of course I wanted to work on my tan so I decided to try this studio out as it is super close to my house. It seems to me to be a mom and pop owned place with the husband and wife running it. The guy that works there is ALWAYS wearing those floral vacation shirts that older gentlemen like(you know what I’m talking about). The inside was OK, Kind of tacky, but in a vacationy, comforting way. It seemed kind of cramped in there, and the building is older so it wasn’t it the best of shape. They had a pretty good selection of different lotions, bronzers, tingle, and plain old tanning lotion. They also have goggles in the room in case you forget your own. I think using goggles that someone else’s sweaty face has touched is kind of gross but I guess as long as they are sanitized properly its OK… Some of the rooms didn’t have mirrors in them which I didn’t like because who doesn’t like to stare at themselves naked when they are all tanned and good looking? What I did NOT like was how pushy, nosy, and all around rude and in your face these people were. Who cares where I am from, where I have tanned before, what kind of lotion I use, where I work and just so many questions I did not want to answer because honestly I’m stoned and I just want to lay in the warm tanning bed and get the hell out of there. The older gentleman that worked there followed me into the room to throw even more questions at me! It was extremely awkward and uncomfortable for me and I went there maybe twice and never went back. I still have minutes there that will never be used because I did not like this place… ugh Oh and they play EZ Rock over the speakers, and you cant change it or bring your own music… FAIL
