Still love this Edmonton classic and glad to see their 2nd Edmonton location continuing to do well since opening in 2011. Did you know they are also in Calgary?!? The menu and specials are available for each location at
Pasta Mondays/Tuesdays still cannot be beat: $ 9.99 Past Frenzy with salad and chocolate mousse available at a reduced price. Great budget and family friendly date night or lunch date! Wednesdays/Thursdays have half priced selected bottles of wine and $ 5 pints of Big Rock. Our fave staples remain Gnocchi Al Pesto(TRYTHISNOW), Fusilli Al Pacifico, and Fettucinne Supremo(seafood and curry — yes please!). The mussels on the appetizer menu are great as a main if you don’t want to share! Just ask for extra bread to dip in and you’ll be in heaven. Mmm… my tummy is rumbling just thinking of it. And don’t forget dessert. Tiramisu is a fave here for me and not what you’d expect. Layers of ladyfingers, mascarpone, and strawberries in a large chianti glass! This location is quite large with ample seating for any sized crowd and also boasts a decent patio for sunny days. Chianti’s — I’m sure I’ll be seeing you soon for a lunch date! Until then, Ciao Bella!

I usually love this place but tonight the service was a little slow … Staff made 9 trips by our table before removing the dirty dishes at the end. We received our appetizer before we got our drinks. And much to my disgust I watched the bartender pour 3 glasses of milk back into the carton after he poured white instead of chocolate. Last time we were there we were given a used butter portion … Now I’m wondering if perhaps the rolls are also reused.

Found this pricey and not that great. I had a soup and salad because I was not in the mood for pasta. The soup(potato and bacon) was OK; but the caesar salad was drowning in dressing. Husband has pasta with tomato sauce and quite frankly, I’ve seen better come directly out of a can. It was definitely not the best place to eat Italian food.

Good standard pasta place. Big portion sizes, exactly what you’d expect. So many menu options, it can be hard to decide what to order. Price point was good, and restaurant wasn’t too busy. Warm buns come with the meals.

I was looking for a decent moderately priced restaurant to meet with a friend for lunch and came across this place. I was surprised as I was not even aware Chianti had a second North side location but after eating at both I feel this location is the superior of the two. The décor here in my opinion is a bit more elegant than over on Whyte with the big murals and plastic grapes everywhere. The staff here are also more attentive. Our waiter was extremely friendly and completely on top of everything that we could want or need. Refills came without having to ask and at one point after a fork fell off the plates as he was carrying them away he actually stopped to get a napkin and clean off the small smear of meat sauce it left on my plastic shopping bag. The food came out right away and tasted great. I also found the portions to be incredibly generous for the price. A starter Caesar salad, half bolognese, and iced tea came to under $ 20.00 and left me feeling full but not bloated. Great price, good food, and excellent service has me leaving 5 stars and I will definitely be returning to this location again.

Not sure why this place gets such great reviews. We had the fettuccine Alfredo and the gnocchi in a pesto cream sauce. The Alfredo sauce tasted nothing like an Alfredo sauce(at least not like one I’ve ever had or made), it was *sickeningly* sweet and so was the basil gnocchi(since the cream sauce was the Alfredo sauce mixed in). It was the worst Alfredo sauce I’ve ever tasted :(. Our toddler had the kids spaghetti and that tasted ok. But in just that experience alone I’m not going to be going back since I’m a bit scared to try anything else. Otherwise it’s a nice rest and the service seemed ok.

I often forget that this is here, but it’s a great little place for an italian pasta feast. I mean I love the Whyte Avenue location but this place is so much quieter and very LRT accessible which is nice when looking for a good restaurant in the area. I’ve visited here prior to taking the LRT to shows and other events. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious and often the daily specials are worth checking out! On my most recent visit I had a delicious meal with salad, pasta, chicken, and veggies for one good price which was really quite wonderful. I like the fact that there are many non-alcoholic drink options on the menu, and the fact that there are simply so many different pasta options on the menu. Service is good(if anything our server returned to our table more frequently than desired but that made it easy to ask for anything if needed).

Love their pasta specials on Monday and tuesday! Chiantis has been a favourite for years. Its a chain but I think the pasta is more authentic than those other chains that have pizzas and pastas too. Lots of booths and tables. great for a date or for large groups. The specials on monday and tuesday are great! I believe its 40 pastas for $ 8.99. Huge portions and enough for lunch the next day. The sauces are always rich creamy and fresh. My personal favourite is the diavolo. A rich creamy pasta with mushrooms with a bit of a spicy kick. The deals on monday and tuesday are so good that my son skips the kids menu and splurges on the great deal instead. For carb overload at a really good price… This is the place. They also have specials daily like certain desserts for a measly $ 3. So check the menu bc theres some good deals if you eat on a off day during the week. I find the ingredients fresh and the pasta is the best you can have it other than it made from scratch. Its not locally sourced or freshly homemade but its really good for the price you pay. And a good deal always makes me happy. And pasta is so easy to make… paying like $ 30 for a dish makes me uncomfortable even if its made from scratch. So frankly I like this place better than those high end places that take a few hours to eat at. Service is good too. I find they are very courteous and helpful and provide me eveything I need despite the busyness. I used to frequent the whyte ave location but now that theres a chiantis in the northside. I dont have to venture that far to get my pasta fix!

This has got to be one of if not the best Italian restaurant in Edmonton. The food is amazing, the service in impeccable. Dinner can be a little expensive but the lunch menu is quite affordable. Plus Monday and Tuesday pasta frenzy, all pasta 8.99.

Seriously, why is this restaurant not always packed? The service & the food is always excellent. Their specials are amazing. They usually have the Seafood cannelloni on the weekends. Love this place!

Went to chianti’s today. It was okay I guess. I wouldn’t say that this place is amazing or above average… It doesn’t have the feel like the whyte ave location. décor was average and food was mediocre I would recommend a few other Italian places before this one. The Penne Alla pollos ingredients were definitely frozen and the chicken in the pasta was such small cubes… Not worth the $ 16.00. The Bellini was decent.

This is my absolute favourite place to go sit down and eat in Edmonton. They have an excellent house wine and I have always experienced helpful and friendly service. They have cheap pasta Tuesdays and I love the fresh ground peper and grated Parmesan cheese. Dinner always comes with fresh warm buns and whipped butter. Decent prices and I love the décor. They have a lovely outdoor patio area for nice weather days.

We like it here enough because the food is good and the prices are reasonable but the main reasons are because it is consistent and close to home. So on a Wednesday night when I don’t feel like cooking we decided to go to chianti. The staff there were friendly with my two kids ate 1 and 3. The kids pasta is a very healthy size and you can change up the sauce if you want. Tonight, our server was not really there but the rest of the staff in the restaurant took care of us. We have other restaurants that we would call our favorites but this one is the closest so we choose it for convenience.

You know what? I kind of like the mom and pop Italian restaurants that Edmonton has to offer. «E» is a full blooded Italian who knows her stuff… and I challenged her patriotism towards the mother country and decided to take her to Chiantti for a meal. And it was a great experience! The food is fantastic. Italian food is so subjective. And Chianti gets it right. The service was pure perfection. Our waitress was great and knew the balance from putting it on too much, or not giving us enough attention. It is a tad pricey, but for a «big box» Italian restaurant in Edmonton, they are amongst the best. Food quality is very high, service is incredible, portions huge… We will go back soon. When an Italian who has lived in Italy, her family owns land in Italy, and has spent time in Rome, Venice, Genoa,(amongst other places) approves of a joint like this, you know there is some magic there!

For the cost, this place is beyond excellent. Especially Pasta Monday and Tuesday when LARGE pasta plates, often more than I can eat, are as inexpensive as $ 9.99. Thick rich creamy chocolate mousse for only $ 2.00. I have tried probably half of the menu items over dozens of visits. Staff have remained largely the same for years and they’re always very nice and friendly. Try the«Bellini», a sort of sparkling wine with peach pulp, so fantastic that I now purchase bottles to drink at home. The Bruschetta is wonderful, but warm fresh buns are always served to start with as well. The pastas, though I cannot comment on how authentically Italian they are, as I’m not an expert, are ALWAYS fresh, well seasoned, consistently delicious. Try the Raspberry Ganache for dessert, it’s to DIEFOR.

Solid, no-surprises Italian-American food in a rather noisy setting. I’ve tried the north side Chianti a number of times and, while it fails to drop-kick me with awesomeness, it is consistent. The portions are generous and the service tends to be excellent without being obsequious. I wish the lounge was in a separate room, though. The TVs and noise from that end of the room always spill over into what should be the quieter half. The food stays in safe territory and doesn’t approach the likes of pasta at Corso 32(which, I realize, is a pretty high bar to reach). But it is light years ahead of Olive Garden, for example. I’d recommend the veal with mushrooms. It’s always tender and creamy and makes a great lunch the next day if you don’t clean your plate.

This was a very welcome addition to the NE. Consistently good food quality and attentive service. They serve the best calamari deal in town — huge order and two great sauces with wonderful light and crisp squid. As most folks know, the $ 8 pasta on Monday and Tuesdays is a great deal. The portion size is great for that price. Try the gnocchi della nona(wonderful meat and mushroom sauce on pototo dumplings).
