Elite Event: Cabaret at the Mayfield Dinner Theatre

I love it here! Though trying to learn to pace myself is tough ! I want to eat it all and now. This place always has amazing food!
The quality of service from the staff always blows me away! They are so attentive, caring and truly do everything they can to make it a perfect evening ! 5 service !
In my opinion you can have 5 food and 1 service and overall you might squeak by 3 night. But conversely you can have a 1 food, and 5 service, it’s a tough decision between a 3 and 4 night.
Here it’s always a 5.

Even though I’ve only been twice, dinner at the Mayfield Dinner Theatre is always fantastic!
Miss Jennie always wows us with her events, but none more so than having a great pre dinner party with drinks from Tanqueray Gin (FYI, right up my alley!), a fabulous meal concocted by the super-​talented Chef Willie White and staff, followed by a wonderful performance of «Caberet» from the great people from the Mayfield Diner Theatre. It was a very special treat to finally SEE the show that I have been listening to ever since I was a teenager. Liza would have been proud!
I love the selection of different dishes in the buffet; from beets in a raspberry vinagarette, to sushi, to roast beef with Yorkshire pudding to salads and desserts a plenty! Did I forget to mention the amazing snapper in a coconut curry sauce… And yay for chocolate chip cookies! How can one not be excited by this?
The waitstaff was phenomenal, as usual. They make the night go so smooth when you know they are there for every request that you might have, no matter how outlandish or wacky it might be.
A big thankyouthankyouthankyou goes out to Jennie for all the background information on the show and all the time and effort it takes to make us lowly Unilocalers feel like a million bucks for a night.
Oh, Mayfield Dinner Theatre, how I cannot wait to see you again. It’s already been too long.

I am so glad I was able to join in on the fun of April’s Elite event at the Mayfield Dinner Theatre. We were welcomed with dirty martini’s and appetizers from Stages Restaurant, and then headed over as a group to the main event. I was so impressed with how many Unilocalers put together costumes, and how well they were done. Our buffet meal was fantastic, as expected from Mayfield. There was everything ranging from sushi to pasta to prime rib, and all the food I tried was delicious (including the fabulous cookies in the dessert buffet). Our server kept our water and wine glasses full all night, and brought tea after the meal.
The first time I attended Mayfield, I didn’t really care for the show — not so with Cabaret. The costumes, music and set were well done, and having not seen the movie before, I enjoyed the story and watching it unfold. The unexpected raunchy humor was great for a laugh. All in all, a great night!

Another great Elite Event by our excellent CM Jennie!
I was lucky enough to attend the last Elite Event at Mayfield Dinner Theatre and was pumped to be able to go to another one there again! Jennie did a great job organizing the night and getting people to dress up in their best Caberet duds! Just check out all of the great photos from the night.
The pre-​party that Jennie put together was top notch. Dirty Martini’s provided by Tanqueray Gin were popular. There was a red lipstick station for the ladies and some great appetizers. There was a photographer taking some great pics of all of the fun.
We were ushered to our seats and had a big section all together. The buffet at Mayfield is awesome. They have a lot of great food and they label all of the allergens pretty well. My partner being Celiac appreciated the labels but she was also told that you can also call ahead and let them know you are Celiac and they will prepare your meal totally separate so that you don’t have to worry about any cross-​contamination from accidental buffet spillage.
The show was really really good. I didn’t know the story before as I haven’t seen the play or any of the movies based on it. The story didn’t intrigue me at first but it does build and get very interesting, especially the second act. It is definitely a show worth seeing and I would recommend it to anyone!
We are pretty lucky to have such great Unilocal Elite events in Edmonton! If you are an Elite and haven’t been to an event you should really check some of them out. Jennie puts a ton of work into these events for us and they are so much fun. If you are trying to become an Elite, get to it! Lots of fun events to do and great people to meet!

I truly enjoyed the Elite Event at the Mayfield Dinner Theatre. I was impressed and pleased by the fact that so many of the Elite members dressed up – this was the first event where I have dressed up in a costume of sorts and I was happy to not be alone in my enthusiasm!
The pre-​party was better than I expected it to be: I quickly found folks with which to talk and the nibbles provided by Stages were really quite good! I really loved the margherita pizza and the pulled pork one wasn’t bad either. The Asian chicken salad wonton wrapper cone things were pretty amazing too! I didn’t partake in the gin, but it looked like a lot of folks were pleased with that. I adored the red lips station — this was fabulous for photos!
The food at the Mayfield was excellent as usual: I really loved the Thai squid with noodles (it was my favourite dish by far!) but I also loved the veggies and seafood, and the great coconut dessert with fruit sauce. I look forward to revisiting the Mayfield again next week to eat again — it was that great! I’d say this was one of my more favourite Mayfield Dinner Theatre menus.
Finally there’s the show. I must say that it’s not the same experience you’re going to get if you’re seeing a show on London’s West End or on Broadway or something… but for a Dinner Theatre this was OUTSTANDING! I found the little touches for this particular production were great — the choreography, the music, the singing, the acting — I totally enjoyed the show!
Some of the non-​yelpers in the audience didn’t look to be having nearly as good of a time as we were, but whatever. Our server was outstanding, our table was great and the fact that we got to go up on stage for a photo afterward was pretty amazing in my books! This was a great event. I’d highly recommend more similar events in the future! Events like this one totally encourage me to stay active with the Unilocal community and participate even just that little bit more on the site.

Wow! Another successful elite event in the books!
The outfits, Tangueray Gin, the amazing buffet, and of course the show all added up to make another masterpiece that is an Elite Event.
The 1930’s outfits complete with Jennie M dressing up as the lead actress «Sally» made the event colorful and atmosphere festive. I couldn’t participate in this part of the evening due to a cast on my fractured wrist but i relished in the ambiance.
The dirty Tangueray mini martinis were the perfect size to try the flavor, warm up the stomach and provide a little flush to all our cheeks. For some it just made the rouge a bit more red.
The full buffet with green salads, cold salads, sushi, seafood, prime rib and desserts ensured that we were all watching the movie on content stomachs. The medium rare piece of prime rib I got was tender and perfectly cooked. The chocolate torte and the lemon squares were my favorite desserts.
And watching this iconic musical on opening night at a great venue like the Mayfield Theater truly made me feel ‘elite’. I have not been exposed to Cabaret before and this rendition was a great foray into the show. I was impressed by the choreography from beginning to end. I thoroughly enjoyed the entertaining yet somber subject matter which makes you reflect on the tragedy that was WW2. I appreciated the ensemble cast where everyone played a pivotal part and provided a different layer of complexity to the narrative.
I will definitely return to the Mayfield Dinner Theater regardless of the show that is playing as the food, service, ambiance, and entertainment value all received 5 stars from me!

I absolutely loved the event!!! Jennie Marshall did an awesome job rallying the troops to dress up in their best Cabaret outfits… patrons were coming up and asking some of us if we were performing as they were so good!
From start to finish, with Tanqueray Gin and their cute little martini glasses and free booze, to Dave Tameling who did an amazing job with the photos, to Chef Willie White who introduced us to the Asian salad served in wonton wrapper in the shape of a cone to the AWESOME wood fire pizzas… it was so much fun!
If you haven’t ever tried the pulled pork wood fire pizza, it’s a MUST… you won’t be disappointed. Before you even get a chance to put it in your mouth, your taste buds will be watering with anticipation.
Thank you also, to Jessica from the Mayfield for helping to put the fun night together. The buffet was soooooooo good, with so much food to choose from, the service from the Mayfield staff was also top notch, as was the performance!
Way to go Jennie, another successful event to add!

Another great elite event!
Unilocal elite were spoiled yet again for a fantastic night out. The night started with ohhh so dirty martinis in stages restaurant. A nice mingle with Unilocalers that was intimate and fun. The lipstick station was unique and a fun touch to start the evening prepared for cabaret. It was fun seeing everyone dress up in their cabaret best. Those feather boas… red lips… skintight corsets… or fashinable suits. It was all great fun and great for picture taking.
Next being ushered to my seats. Unilocalers had a whole section. I was told by the usher and my waitress that i could sit anywhere at my table despite the numbers on my ticket. This caused a slight misunderstanding but frankly was not a big deal at all. Just a slight uncomfortable feeling when i was being told to move after finishing my main meal??? Um so you want me to move after using all the cutlery, cups and etc. Ummm. Awkward. So minus a star for being ushered to a seat and told it doesnt matter where i sit despite showing my ticket. Then disturbed mid meal to be asked to move. It all worked out but i must mention this is not the first time this has happened to my mother. She came with a large group of 90 people and the ushers did this exact same thing to her and it did cause a bit of commotion. so note this If you are visiting with a large group.
Next the wonderful buffet put together by chef willie. Wow plus wow. Always amazing and everything tasted superb. My particular favourites were the prime rib with yorkshire pudding and the scallop fried rice and the octupus noodle dish. Yummy. Dessert was delightful with a sweet cake topped with fresh berries. So so good. Everything top notch.
The show was fabulous which was more storyline than musical but was very entertaining. The lead female singer was fantastic. As ive seen her in chicago and was perfect for this role in cabaret.
overall the night was fantastic. It was a five star event for sure. The mayfeild did not disappoint. And is always a fantastic night out! edmontons Unilocal elite are definitly spoiled!

Nothing beats an Elite Event at the Mayfield, and this was even more wonderful than the one I was fortunate to attend last year. Big, huge, fabulous kudos to Miss Jennie, the staff at Mayfield, Karen with Doubletree, Tanqueray, and the cast of Cabaret — everyone created an evening full of fun and memories to last.
Starting out with dirty martinis from Tanqueray and appies from Chef Willie, a red lipstick booth and photos of all the smartly costumed Unilocalies by Dave, the first hour of socializing was great — People really outdid themselves with dressing up, and I know we left trails all about the restaurant with our feather boas jolting! I loved getting to meet some newbies and tantalizing them about the meal to come.
And it didn’t disappoint a bit. This has got to be the best buffet I’ve ever been to here in Edmonton. My favourite dish of the night turned out to be beets, of all things — an amazing salad which is often served in the restaurant due to its popularity — I polished off my yearly quota of red veggies in one night, I’m sure! I also enjoyed the snapper in coconut milk and curry, and the Thai squid, but have to say that not a single dish failed to delight me. And then, oh Lordie, the dessert bar. Ohhhhhhh… Ahhhhhhh… Favorite new thing for me was the Sour Cherry Pannacotta. Yes, I admit it, I had three. All the desserts are small enough to try several without too much guilt or damage to the waistline, and the Chef had previously told us it hurt his feelings if we didn’t try them all, so what’s a girl to do? Mayfield also treated every table with two bottles of wine, and service from the waitstaff was constant and impeccable, as always.
The show itself was even better than I ever expected, and I knew in advance it would be good. The sets, staging, costuming, acting and singing were all highly professional, and the room is small enough to feel involved in the story, especially since at one point audience members were brought up on stage (and bravo to the gentleman who was such a good sport!)
I’m so grateful I was able to enjoy another wonderful Elite Event — thank you, Miss Jennie!

This was a fantastic event. I love the musical Cabaret and I was super excited to see it performed live again, and at The Mayfield where I know we’d have a delightful time. Preparty started with some dirty martinis and while I’m not a huge martini fan it was fun to enjoy this classic cocktail. There was also a red lipstick makeup table where with some Joe Fresh products that was fun (and now I have more to add to my shopping cart next time I’m in Superstore), and there was a photo booth. My friend and I started lining up the show early and totally missed the appies at the preparty, but there was more than enough delicious food to enjoy at the buffet. Back in September I attended the Elite Event for the show Folkswagon at The Mayfield, but I wasn’t feeling great and didn’t get a chance to really enjoy the buffet. This time I was prepared. The food was fantastic, but I particulaly loved the prime rib and Yorkshire pudding as well as that beet and goat cheese salad (and I hate beets so that’s saying something). As for the show itself it was fantastic. Cabaret is one of my favorite musicals, funny, sexy, smart and surprising and this production of Cabaret at The Mayfield is definitely worth a visit. think my only two regrets were that I couldn’t try all the dishes (there’s just so much food) and that I wasn’t as dressed up as my fellow Unilocalers (they brought their A game for this event — loved it).
Thanks to Jennie and everyone else who helped make this a perfectly marvelous event. Can’t wait for the elite event.

As a huge musical theatre fan, I was beyond thrilled when I heard that we would be having an event for Cabaret, and let me tell you it did not disappoint!
I arrived a little bit late, so unfortunately I was unable to try any of the Tanqueray drinks (boo) or appetizers at Stages. I did happen to see the Red My Lips booth though and I absolutely loved the idea! One of my favourite parts of the night was seeing fellow Unilocalers dressed to the nines in their cabaret best.
The food at the buffet was delicious! The prime rib was too die for and I regret not getting more of it. The selection was phenomenal– there was a little bit of everything and each label had the origin country of the dish, which was a nice little touch that I enjoyed. The food was all yummy. I have got to give it up to the dessert bar though. The mango bavarois was the best thing I have tasted in a long time. So creamy and mangoey and not too sweet… Mmmm.
The show itself was amazing! I’d never seen Cabaret before so the plot line was a bit of a shocker (things got real dark, real fast), but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The acting and vocals were really good. The costumes were absolutely wonderful, and I kind of want to go stockpile stockings, garters, and feathers for my wardrobe.
All-​in-​all it was an absolutely delightful night. I can’t commend everyone involved enough.

I get excited like a kid at Christmas when I hear that we’re having an event at the Mayfield Dinner Theatre. What an amazing treat this event was! I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Folkswaggin’ show a few months ago, so I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting myself into.
As always, the event was well planned and moved fluidly. When we first arrived, we collected our name tags and tickets — a process that could have caused long wait times to get it, but it was managed very well and took no time at all. We were treated to a pre-​show party, sponsored by Tangueray Gin — complete with dirty martinis. I’m not an olive fan, but I did enjoy the flavours. The photo booth was a lot of fun and I had a great time mingling with the Elites and their guests.
Once the pre-​party wrapped up, we made our way to the theatre. There’s something really grand about walking into a room wearing a big red feather boa. Anyway… we started with dinner. And as always, I was too busy being a pig to take any pictures :(Chef Willie outdid himself yet again. The prime rib was absolutely to do for, and I went back for seconds. The chicken stroganoff dish was a surprise favourite as well.
The specialty drinks for the show were quite expensive, though that’s normal. I believe the mocktail was $ 6, and the alcoholic ones were each $ 10. I had the lemonade (Honey Jack, Cointreau &pineapple juice). It was good, but very sweet and heavy.
The show… oh, the show… I will confess that like Kristin, I had not seen Cabaret prior to this, though I was familiar with a lot of the songs. The singing and dancing was out of this world and I genuinely had an AMAZING TIME!
Thank you to Jennie, Dave (great pics!), and the Mayfield crew for a fantastic evening (and sorry for all the feathers that were left behind… I didn’t expect to shed that much!!)

I had such a blast at last night’s Elite Event at the Mayfield Dinner Theatre!
The Pre-​Party was fabulous! Tanqueray Gin served up the dirtiest of martinis in these freaking adorable mini martini glasses! Chef Willie White treated us to some bites from from their upcoming Spring menu including an asian salad served inside a fried wonton wrapper in the shape of a cone. The wood fired pizzas are always phenomenal and I got to try the Pulled Pork one — delish!
Fellow Unilocaler Jen had a red lipstick booth set up to be sure we were in character from start to finish for our night!

Next up, we ventured over to the dinner portion of our dinner theatre show. Chef Willie White always has a spread fit for a king — highlights included the beets tossed with raspberry vinagarette and goat cheese, chilled shrimp in herbed butter, and of course the Roast Beast with Yorkshire Pudding goodness!
Cabaret itself was AH-​mazing! It was my first time seeing this musical (I know, I know… bad Kristin!) and it was my favourite show to date at the Mayfield! The set was phenomenal, the dancing divine, and the singing sensational :-)
Jennie really outdid herself on this event as always!

This was my first Unilocal Elite event, so while I have no basis of comparison, I am fully confident rating this 4 stars!
I was so impressed with everyone’s outfits… the Elite squad really goes all out with the theme!!! The huge cabaret sign with Sally was super great for photos. The Tanqueray dirty martinis were seriously delicious and I’ll be picking up a bottle of Tanqueray this weekend. The appies going around were delicious as well! While I did make a point of introducing myself to as many of you as possible, being that I’m a new Unilocal Elite member, I know I missed a lot of you and hope to talk to more of you at another event. I did expect more of a welcoming feel/​vibe for newbies. But I’m okay with approaching people and introducing myself.
Moving onto the buffet… honestly, my jacket felt tight this morning when I zipped it up. If that’s any indication. I can’t stress enough how GOOD that buffet was. I get sick from buffets all the time (ya, I’m a baby), and even though I ate way more dessert than I should have :) I only felt like I overate and not actually sick hah! The prime rib was so good, and I loved the mashed potatoes. I’m a meat and potatoes kinda girl. My +1 really enjoyed the pork dish. And I loved, loved, LOVED the sour cherry panna cotta.
The show itself was impactful. It was my first dinner theatre show, and I actually naively didn’t know too much about the the Cabaret story line, so the ending was very sobering after an evening of fun and excitement. It truly was a good show, and I’m definitely going to encourage people to go see it.
I really look forward to seeing what other great shows Mayfield Theatre brings to us, and I’m even more excited to see what other awesome events Jennie plans for the Elite squad!

From the fantastic Tanqueray martinis (3 olives!!!) and appies at Doubletree’s Stages (thin crust pizza & Asian chicken salad in wonton cones) to the expansive buffet (Asian, Italian, Mediterranean and then some) to the highly well-​acted play, Cabaret.
All-​in-​all, a smashing good time was had by everyone!

I didn’t think that there was anyway our CM Jennie Marshall could outdo the Indiana Jones event, but she did !
Tanqueray gin sponsoring the pre drinks was a great start to the night, and then a wonderful experience at the the Mayfield (I’ve never been and I’ve lived here forever)
The room was perfectly decorated with Cabaret style events, and even a photo booth area where you could take pictures all gangstered up.
Speaking of dressing up, it’s always fun to dress up for Edmonton Elite events, because the whole group really gets into the swing of things.
Another perfect event for the Edmonton Unilocal Team led by Jennie Marshall.

Another fun night at the Mayfield Dinner Theatre. Food, wine, music and good company. The Elite events are always a fun night out. It’s always baffled me as to why more Elites don’t take part. The food was great — a diverse selection of entrees and desserts. We really enjoyed the show as well.
The Mayfield staff are always super-​friendly to the Unilocalers and make us feel at home. Thanks to Jennie and her commandos for a fun-​filled and memorable night.
