While I don’t have children of my own, nor do I have relatives or friends who attend this school(my familiarity with Edmonton elementary schools is limited to those I’ve visited for Read In Week, or for other volunteer opportunities or special events I’ve attended over the years), I find that the idea of an arts core elementary school is commendable. I’ve attended the Culinary Arts Cookoff here three times now and I’ve truly enjoyed the experience of trying new foods, seeing the students here welcome us attendees and all the work that is put into their most wonderful art in the hallways and in the silent and live auctions. The dedication of staff and volunteers to making this work is really quite commendable. Plus it’s pretty awesome that such a rad school is available to families in the Highlands neighborhood. The facilities in this school are pretty great: the gym, the boot room, the bathrooms, and the hallways(and the classrooms I’ve seen) are well maintained. The park looks like it is in good repair as well. It is transit accessible and not terribly far from other destinations in the area.
