I checked out this No Frills today for the first time — and honestly the first time checking out a No Frills in Alberta. I wasn’t sure what to expect… my experience of No Frills in Ontario was always of dirty grimy grocery stores. But this place was clean! It definitely lacked any ‘Frills’ in the sense of pretty signs, etc. but the prices were fan-freaking-tastic. A lot of items were the same as Superstore(they’re owned by the same company I think) but were significantly cheaper here! It’s definitely a smaller grocery store so you won’t necessarily find everything you’re looking for, especially if you seek certain brands. But for a run of the mill shop, I think this is the place to go. Only thing that took my by(negative) surprise: They don’t take VISA! I do love paying by VISA to get my rewards… oh well.

Having shopped at the larger Leonhardt’s No Frills for the past three years I was not sure how I was going to like having to switch to this location after moving to the neighborhood but im pleased to say it was a mostly positive experience. The store here is alot cleaner and better stocked despite having less shelf space. We saw alot of grocery clerks out on the floor yesterday replenishing things that were getting low which im not used to seeing on a Sunday. Also the cashier was really nice and actually seemed to be enjoying her job and talking to the customers which is a rare and welcome sight. The only real issue we had was in the meat department. There were a few things we had been able to get at the other store than’t we couldn’t find here. All in all though I think it’s a great store that offers the fantastic deals that one always expects to find when shopping No Frills and we look forward to being returning patrons.

This is my husband’s favorite place to grocery shop. Since we’re watching our dollars more carefully these days, this place has been a godsend. Did you know they have $ 1 specials on Tuesdays? They mark down things like Michelina entrees and pastas and soups for better deals. Plus their everyday prices are CHEAP. i haven’t noticed any problems with the produce as mentioned by other Unilocalers. maybe we just got lucky, or maybe they’ve improved since the last reviews, but we’ve been happy with all the fruit so far. The meat prices are a few years behind, and it’s the same quality you’d find at any other big chain. My only complaint is the lack of selection. Only certain brands, lots of generic brands, etc. Somethings, like hair dye, aren’t available there. But I guess when you’re doing things on the cheap, that’s to be expected. They do have boxes you can use to pack up your own items, but bring your canvas bags if you have them.

This store has a lot of perks; it is usually not too busy, so the line ups aren’t bad. Great for a quick, small shop. They usually have a few items that are marked down to great low prices, so it’s worth going often. One bad thing I find is that you really have to check over the produce for freshness. Some days are better than others. I don’t find the staff particularly friendly or helpful, but being a small store, you should be able to find what you need.

This was my 1st time to this location. I’ve been to other No Frills locations though & I enjoyed the simple interior of this one. The isles are a good size for getting around the store with the large carts, btw it’s like superstore in that you need a loonie to get one. They have some excellent sales with many items more than 50% off, an ample produce section & an OK meat department. I didn’t really check out the bakery items or dry goods, but there appeared to be a fairly good selection to accommodate most shopping needs. All in all I thought it is a nice size to get around with decent selection, definitely a great alternative to the nearby safeway!
