Yianni’s Backyard

Now THIS is good Greek food! Excellent service as well. We were very disappointed in our last Greek dining experience at Koutouki on 124^th (they changed owners and now it’s terrible), so we needed a Greek «re do». Some friends suggested that we try Yianni’s Backyard, and we’re so glad we did. It was awesome.
Perfectly tender and seasoned calamari — maybe the best we’ve had.

Fortunately, there is still one (and only one) good Greek restaurant left in Edmonton, and this is it! We’ll be coming here often for our Greek fix.

So great to have this comfort food again. The calamari is still perfectly crispy and tender. The lamb, the lemon potatoes and the salad are all as good as you remember.
It is a little difficult to find as the address in on Calgary Trail, but the restaurant is set back and hidden a bit behind another building. But find your way and you will not be disappointed, particularly if you order the lamb.

Best Greek food I have ever had! Amazing food and customer service. The waiter was extremely fast and the portions were huge! The chicken and lamb were excellent as was the rest of the food. A great atmosphere and I will definitely be coming back. They also can customize to make items gluten and dairy free if you ask.

Good Greek! This new venture by famed Etown restaurateur and Chef, Yanni, will have you screaming «Get Me To The Greek!» With only 9 tables that sit under a canopy of vines and twinkling white lights — as well as under shards of broken plates (OPA!!), you literally feel like you are a private guest in Yanni’s backyard… What can I say, the name really fits!
The food is classic Greek eats, best shared with family or friends, home cooked, filling and fantastic. Make sure to get the saganaki, oh I could eat that deep fried, lit on fire cheese dish everyday! Pro tip: squeeze some lemon on it!
This place would make an amazing birthday party dinner, as well as romantic night out with plate smashing fun. And I love that Yanni himself seems to always be there and takes the time to say hi to everyone that comes through his door.
