We have been selling performance auto parts in Etobicoke for over 45 years! In 1964 Bob McJannett opened his own speed shop. 45 years later, this family-​run Canadian business is still going strong.

Originally located at the corner of Kipling and the Queensway, Performance Improvements («the Modern Hot Rod Shop») was a part-​time job for owner Bob McJannett. His goal in selling Carburetors, Manifolds, Mufflers, Wheels, and Tires was simply to make enough money to cover the rent. Success came as a result of the commitment to customer service, standing by every product sold with a no-​hassle 30 day return policy.

Family-​owned performance auto parts stores since 1964. Starting with a $ 1,500 loan, Performance Improvements Speed Shops founder Bob McJannett grew the business from a part-​time job (open from 6 to 10 in the evening) to locations across South-​Eastern Ontario and Quebec.

Bob is still working on cars, and getting grease stains on all of his clothes. His latest ride is a 1932 Ford Roadster, while his daily driver in the summer is his 1941 Mercury.

«Canadians love their vehicles, and want something different from their neighbour,» said Bob. «It’s up to Performance Improvements to provide the difference.»
