I often stop here before work or at lunchtime instead of the dreaded(one-parking-lot-median away) Burger King. The selection seems alright, but the previous reviews are correct in their insinuation that the shelves were stocked by directionally confused monkeys. Nothing is where it apparently should be, and while their whole/organic foods section is inticing, oftentimes it’s not worth risking the spotty customer service. Don’t get me wrong, some of the cashiers are friendly, customer service oriented people(some even overly friendly), but I would recommend steering completely clear of the«Food-2-go» counter. Not only have they been«down a fryer» for at least 6 months, you lineup to get garbage customer service and portions that aren’t comparable to other locations. I work in a retail setting with many other employees. It’s not uncommon for me to make«lunch runs» for all the staff I work with. Minimizes time away from the desk and people«out to lunch», maximizing human capital. Every Tuesday, they have Tender Tuesdays, which was something I was introduced to here when I started. Initially the 10 – 15 minute wait in line didn’t bother me. Then came the fryer issues. Then it was a 10 – 15 minute wait, and then when you’ll get near the front of the line and they tell you it’ll be another 7 – 10 minutes until the fryers are done with whatever they just ran out of. This happened one day, and I came back to find one of the old hags chatting to a coworker, mocking my displeasure with their inability to understand than NOONISLUNCHHOUR, and they WORKINCUSTOMERSERVICE, SUCKITUP, GRANDMA, and keep the fryers moving because YOUHAVE A LINEUP, are you BLIND? I told the manager and she handled it to the best of her ability — but that didn’t stop this particularly raging grandma to then refuse me service the next time I got to the front of the line. Threw the box down and simply said«I’m not serving HER.» Save your lunch hour and drive to Joe Howe.

I’ll always take Superstore over Sobey’s but as far as Superstore’s go this is not not my favorite. What I do enjoy about it is that it’s not usually mobbed with students on a Tuesday night like other grocery stores in town, and their natural health section is pretty decent. What I don’t like though is the produce, I find it’s always looking limp and almost past it’s prime, and the selection isn’t all that outstanding. The past couple of times I’ve gone down the dairy aisle, my favorite yogurt has been out of stock. This store is too small to have a Joe Fresh which is a bummer as well.

Is it weird for me to feel weird about reviewing a food store? I mean how complicated can it be? You go in, put some food in a basket and off you go. But it is my local grocery store(and I am the current duke/dutchess) so the least I can do is put a few words down on their behalf. Simple review: I like it. It’s within walking distance if you live anywhere in the Hydrostone. Need something quick for that meal you’re trying to make then this place is going to be a god send just when you need it. The one thing I love about it? It’s shares a parking lot with Burger King. I often hope that people who are wanting to grab something quick(read horrible processed foods that will clog your artery and kill you all for less than a few bucks) might be swayed to go to Superstore instead and find a healthier option…

I shop at this location maybe twice a month. My latest visit was not a bad one. It is a rather quiet store, but often has deal if you shop around, and look closely down the isles — and generally at the end of them is where you can score!!! I was leaving after walking around for a bit trying to kill time — this week they have a amazing deal on Butter — stock up now! When I was checking out I asked the cashier if she knew if there was a limit on the butter. Not only did she not know, she did not bother to find out for me, leaving me helpless, and my question still unanswered. She just mentioned that she seen lots of folks coming out with lots. Still not very helpful. Anyway’s, just another employee not really interested in her job, or customer service if you ask me. If I see you again there, I will not to checking out with you.

This is my local grocery store, and I’ve grown very familiar with it. Thank goodness they’ve updated the look and layout in the past couple of years, as prior to the reno, there were some strange layout challenges. But that’s neither here nor there now. I really like that it’s not the biggest store, but it has everything that’d you’d expect in a superstore. The meats, fish and produce are dependable, and the newish bulk foods section has nuts, dried fruit and sweet treats(read: chocolate!) that you can bag yourself. I’m a frequent shopper in the health/natural food section, and they’ve got all the regular GF and DF products I like, so that keeps me happy. I think the international food section could be expanded, but again, this is a store that has all the basics I need, so I can rely on what’s in store most of the time. Staff at the checkout are very friendly and efficient.

Yes, This is my favorite Superstore location. I like the staff; they arent a bunch of pissy highschool kids forced to get jobs by parents and or guidance councellors. It’s reassuring to see the same staff all the time, it says the manager is good at his job. If the employees are content at their jobs, the products and services will be good. The natural foods/gluten-free section is one of the best. No it’s not as big as Joe Howe but they always seem to have what I want, whereas Joe Howe’s Natural foods section seems to be more about supplements and the like. The number one reason why I prefer this Superstore to all others is the produce section. The produce manager knows his job and treats the fruits and veg with care. If stuff is ripening or a bit overripe it get sold at half price right away, it doesn’t sit there to rot next to unripe fruit. Again, it’s always the same people stocking the produce section and they know how to handle a papaya, so when I get the five dollar little gem home it’s not mush. The new floor plan and lay out is excellent. I would go to this location even if I lived across town from it.

This past week was my first time biking over to the Atlantic Superstore on Young and I left with mixed feelings. First off, I found the store somewhat disorganized. I went on a quest for rice that ended with me just wandering up and down aisles seeking my desired product. Poorly labeled aisles for sure. Sort of meager selection as well although maybe this is just one of the smaller superstores? On the flip side, I picked up some shrimp, scallops, zucchini, lemon and mixed peppers that turned into delectable shish kabobs! Very nice produce in general. There were plenty of cashiers on as well which I personally really appreciate.

This Superstore is one of my least favourites to visit. Their floor plan is laid out in a way that is less than intuitive. I always find myself hunting for items that are placed next to other items in the bigger stores; Young Street apparently has their own system for determining what goes where, and it can be hard to figure out. For the longest time, croutons were not by the salad dressings — where else, pray tell, would they belong? I can’t even remember where I finally found them(with the help of a staff member), but it certainly wasn’t anywhere I’d have thought to seek them out. The Young Street Superstore also doesn’t have self-serve checkouts, my new best friend. Line-ups are notoriously long, even at the express lanes. It appears that they attempt to stock some household goods, but overall, it’s just not the same Superstore found in other locations. One perk: it’s usually not as crowded to get around. If I am just picking up one or two things for dinner, I’m likely to pop in here after work to save braving the crowds at Joe Howe.
