The Courtyard by Marriott

Clean, friendly, and a great location!
Everything is within walking distance and the great thing about this location is that you’re right downtown, but not in the middle of the bar scene (yelling drunks). It’s only a few minutes away, if that’s what you are seeking.
The room was spotless! The customer service; the best I’ve ever received! The only downside is the pool is incredibly small… I didn’t even bother getting into it as I felt if another person got in, it would be crowded.

Staying here has become an annual tradition for my husband and I when we visit Nova Scotia, and it keeps getting better with each visit. The décor inside has been upgraded to be aesthetically pleasing. I had a delicious egg white fritatta for breakfast at the restaurant, enjoyed a relaxing jacuzzi and dip in the pool and was impressed by the hospitality shown by all staff. Great views of the city/​harbour and overall a highly recommended place to stay!

My husband and I were very happy with the quality of service we received — from arrival to departure — the hotel staff were extremely helpful and responsive to all of our questions and requests for assistance. Our room was beautiful, well-​maintained, very quiet and very clean. The complimentary soap /​toiletries were of high quality. Marriott is a well recognized name for high quality accommodations, and they did not disappoint. The location of the hotel could not have been more convenient — so much was within walking distance — right near the waterfront /​Boardwalk and downtown. So many wonderful restaurants to choose from and chocolate shops! Also nearby (just across the street) was I heart bike rental — fabulous place to rent bikes and book a tour (see my review). We loved our stay/​visit to Halifax and we would definitely stay at the Courtyard Marriott again.

Great location, great service, great view and accessible. This hotel made our brief 2 night stay in Halifax relaxing, restful and enjoyable. Staff was also very friendly.

Very friendly staff and the rooms are perfect with a great view of the Halifax harbour. Located in the middle of everything which is a bonus.

Location of Courtyard Marriott is great. Lots of restaurants and shops in the surrounding blocks.
To be honest we did nothing in the hotel, it was a crash pad, so I can only praise the rooms, the beds and the harbour view. All were great.

Perfect location since it is right in the middle of everything.
As for breakfast however the buffet was horrible and definitely not worth the price.

I stayed at the Courtyard while in town on business. My room was comfortable, and, although the old Phillips tube tv was in serious need of updating, the furnishings were satisfactory and functional. I was disappointed that there was no USB jack to charge my phone (forgot the darn charger) on the desk or alarm clock. I had to find a Radio Shack and drop 20 bucks on a temporary replacement! The Wifi worked fine… Which is great. I didn’t find the staff to be overly friendly, but I can’t say I dealt with them a lot. My key card did not work on two occasions and I had to have it reset. One of those times, the counter person asked for my id (that’s strangely never happened before). I didn’t quite know how to take it… Either a good thing, so that some stranger could not gain entry into my room… Or she thought I looked too poor to be staying at that hotel. I also found the lobby bathroom to be on the messy side.

This is pretty pathetic — especially considering Cut and another restaurant are the same building. Untrained server with poor service — ate her own meal at the bar, never thought of salt, pepper etc. My steak sandwich was over salted, her fried chicken had to be striped of the batter and fried mushrooms to be edible, enough garlic to kill ghosts for miles. No one was eating but us — perhaps they already knew. Unless they are going to do it right, the restaurant should be closed since it reflects badly on the Marriott name and hotel.

Wonderful staff and a decent hotel for a fair price. It’s usually my go to place for business meetings and family gatherings alike.

I have never been to a hotel with such incredible service. The customer service here is excellent and the whole staff makes you feel like you’re in a great place. The location is fantastic and the rooms are clean and spacious. I stay in hotels every week for my job, and this is one of the best I’ve stayed in.

Happy with the price, the size of our room, the view and the especially the location and the staff seemed friendly and attentive. A few things knocked this down to 3-​stars from 4.
Check in time is at 3pm. We arrived at 1pm, dropped off our bags and headed down the boardwalk to the Maritime Museum. We returned just before 4pm. And no rooms were ready. By this point we had been on the go since 7:30am EST and were just too tired to do anything else. After some gentle cajoling from my partner (we noticed that being angry wasn’t getting the other customers anywhere) we eventually got a room.
Our room stank of cigarette smoke. Normally I would have requested another on the spot but considering what we went through at check-​in I don’t think they had anywhere else to put us. We opened the one window as much as it could go and eventually the room aired out.
We ended up leaving the window open a lot. Even though we had climate control for the temperature the room was really, really dry.
On our last night we got the fleece blanket out of the closet to throw on the bed. It was very comfy. It was also covered in long, dark hairs that were not ours.
I don’t want this to be a negative review because for the most part we were very happy with our stay in Halifax. Looking back on our trip, the good things about the hotel were what I expect of anywhere I stay and in the end the small annoyances are what stand out.

Today I was at the Marriott for a seminar WOW what a hotel. At night from the outside in the courtyard the trees are lit up with white lights it is just beautiful. Walking into the hotel on the left hand side nice granite tables which were set up at the breakfast area. Beautiful fireplace to sit around and have a drink at the bar that is opened at 4pm.
Down the hall was beautiful pool and work out room all convince of the hotel when you stay there. We were actually in a conference room all day which was nice but yes I would rather have been at the bar or in the pool.
I must say one thing that the Marriott has is excellent service, unbelievable. I mean if we went out the the room they had peppermint paddies at the tables when we came back each time. The lunch was great nice sandwiches both meat and veggie sweets and drinks. Breaks were fruit skibobs, delicious.
One thing that I will always remember from the courtyard is Harold he was the nicest man that I have come across in a long time. Great customer service skill, engaging and I love the kisses, Hershey that it. What a doll. If we all had employees like that a business would run like a well oiled machine.
