I have been to this place several times, and I have never been disappointed with the experience. The food, for the most part, is always great, I’ve only ever had one dish that I didn’t particularly like, but balsamic berries over a pannacotta for dessert just wasn’t to my taste, I could see how others might like it. The coconut tart they served that night was fantastic though. For my entrée last night I had the Schnitzel with Hunter Sauce with Frites. I didn’t know what hunter sauce was before I ordered and had I known I probably would have ordered something else because typically I hate mushroom gravy. However, the meal was absolutely delicious, and I would order it again. Despite my distaste for mushrooms. My only criticism of last night’s meal is that it could have used some veggies on the plate. Personally, I would have put some green beans, but anything really would have added a nice balance to the plate. Plus helped me feel a little less guilty about just eating meat and potatoes. Heh. Every waiter I have had at this place has been great, with last night’s server not being an exception to this rule. He was professional, friendly and attentive. This is quickly becoming one of my favourite restaurants in the city, and I will be back again and again, as I look forward to tasting any new dishes they come up with. As far as to why I gave them four stars, instead of five, despite raving about them. Well honestly, if a place was perfect it would become boring, and uninteresting. I hope they continue to strive to provide better service and better even better food. Oh and just a tip, if they are serving crème brûlée? Get it, it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. And the Sheppard’s Pie is absolutely fantastic as well.

Treated my GF to lunch last week. I had a steak salad which in itself was good, but was served in a plastic, fake wood salad bowl – I couldn’t help wondering a) how clean it was; b) if it would have more appeal served on a more modern piece of dishware like a white square plate. The wine glasses were streaky and needed a good polish. We were the only two people in the restaurant, and the server was more interested in her own lunch and chatting with others than looking after us. I ordered coffee which was served french press style(good), but my coffee mug had a crack in it, and it leaked all over the table. Again, the restaurant ware sadly lacks style and attention to cleanliness and care. We waited a long time for the bill, when I finally left the table and approached the bar myself to get her attention. I didn’t feel the meal was worth over $ 50.00 given the above, and won’t be back. There are too many other good places on Ottawa and James Street.

Last night I took my dining group here for dinner before walking to see the lights in the DeLight festival around the corner. i had had lunch wth a friend here and I quite liked it. Atmosphere– Pretty basic. Wooden chairs and tables. We got the high bench seating with tables at the back.(This space is spit into 2 spaces(this restaurant and a bar(Black Sheep snack Bar) both of which were empty. There were 6 women doing the newest fad– painting while enjoying a few drinks but that was it. Food– My dining group usually looks up menus before we actually get to restaurants and this place posts a sample. Lucky for me what i wanted was being served. Unlucky for a few of my friends, tey had wanted the pork dish that was not available. i think it would be beneficial when sitting down the waitress should tell us what is not available. My group had the following: 1) Broccoli Caesar salad– light dressing was really different and very delicious. Having broccoli in it gave it a little more substance. 2) duck wings– flavour of the sauce they were cooked in was scrumptious but they only gave you 2 wings and the meat was lacking on them. A disappointment for sure. 3) wild mushroom and goat cheese lasagna– This was to die for! It was so creamy and there were a lot of mushrooms. I loved it. 4) chicken stuffed with pancheeta and peppers– very moist and lovely however, it came with a quinois salad that was tasty and cold(It would be preferred to serve it warm or not have the warm chicken placed on the cold salad. because it cooled the chicken quickly.5) duck– just ok. Not as succulent as you might expect with duck but the taste was really good. This came with fried potatoes(in duck fat) — They were the best tasting fried potatoes. A little salad with nice dressing was also on the plate and was refreshing and fresh. 6) breaded pork schnitzel with mushroom gravy– many of my group ordered this and none of them were disappointed. It took up half the plate size and was tender. The only thing to note here is when you are served a piece of mean like this it would be beneficial to serve it with a steak knife for ease of cutting it. Desserts included-1) crème brullee– was a smallish dish that was deeper than most crème brullee containers. this was reported as extremely delicious. However, i like the crunch o the top and being a smaller container that means less crunchy topping… too bad. 2) sugar pie– 2 very small pieces on the plate– extremely sweet if you like sickening sweet… and I do. Service– Our waitress was lovely and knowledgeable. We were served quickly and meals were hot. Our bills came out fast and i have no complaints here. Great service. Impression– i know i will be back. I would go back just for the sugar pie and a tea. too bad they do not serve my favourite tea– Earl Grey. I look forward to experiencing more as well.

A-maaaaa-zing. Their current menu definitely hits the nail on the head for comfort food. I initially ordered the duck confit, but I’m not much of a meat-eater(which my partner is), so I traded him for the vegetarian lasagna and… Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. Probably one of the most delicious dishes I have ever eaten. The mushrooms and the sauce were just /perfect/with the most amazing balance of goat cheese… Wow. Alright, I’m done. Order it, is all I’m saying. Incredible.

The food is creative, unique, and very tasty. Ceviche was nice and refreshing, dim sum used authentic traditional Chinese spices, and some of the fusion dishes were also quite yummy. Wasn’t busy when we visited on a week night. Only suggestion is more staff would be appreciated, the one lady running between the two side by side restaurants seemed very overwhelmed and as a result service was a bit slow, but overall great atmosphere and even better food.

Just popped in quickly while strolling Ottawa street and checking out all the antique shops. We decided to grab a few quick shared tapas plates for a mid afternoon snack! We tried the jamaican patty, the pork belly bun and the dumplings. Hands down the food was super tasty and really yummy. We looooved the jamaican patty. All the plates are small so order enough — a bit pricy was the only downside(for the amount you get). Toronto prices in hamilton… not a big fan of that. Otehrwise we will definately be back.
