Our Lunch menu features in house made 100% beef burgers; A Swiss mushroom burger topped with sautéed chopped fresh mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese; Homemade soups and an assortment of hot/​cold Sandwiches try our famous Club house and roast beef melts cooked in house with fresh turkey and roast beef for anytime of the day.

Come For Dinner and enjoy a variety of salads, fresh chicken, and in house made fish & chips with coleslaw. Recommended entrees: a 10oz New York Steak grilled the way you like and loaded with sautéed mushrooms; liver & onions; pasta, with or without meat sauce.

Founded in 1987 by Terry & Alexandra Plessas, the family continues to serve home style fresh breakfast, lunch and dinners. We are fully licensed establishment.

Great if you go with a group of 4. Any bigger groups it looks like it might take some time to get a table. The service was average, the food was great. Food came somewhat slowly but we went at a busy time (Sunday morning). I had the Guacamole Eggs Benny and they were delicious. I do wish though that the homefries were more of a «fried» style instead of looking like mash potatoes, but they’re still pretty good. Overall a good restaurant and very busy for a reason!

Great food.
But after I ate, I headed to the washroom and left my bag where I was sitting. I come out of the washroom and the waiter was waiting for me right outside with the check in her hand.
Assuming that I dined and dashed, of course.
That assumption is horrible. Especially if my bag is still there beside my seat. I’m not sure if that’s how you treat everyone that goes to the washroom or only people of color, but if that’s the case you need to get your shit together or you’ll lose business.
Never coming back, that’s for sure.

The Egg and I is comparable to Smitty’s, the ubiquitous breakfast chain in Nova Scotia. Here’s how our first visit went:
Pros:
— Fast, friendly service.
— Decent portions for reasonable prices.
— Delicious bacon and ham — tastes like local, not luncheon.
— Unique hash browns — normally I don’t care for these, but Egg and I does them differently and I ate more than I usually would.
— Egg paintings EVERYWHERE!
Cons:
— The décor, as others have noted, is a little run down and is in need of an update.
— I found it quite loud, though this is probably typical of a Sunday morning.
A perfectly good breakfast spot. We are glad that we gave it a try!

I’ve eaten here before, and at this location (Upper James) I have never walked out disappointed. I ate there again Monday past and I was once again very pleased with the service as well as the food. The place is clean, quiet and the food was very good.
I had a big breakfast and the bacon was crispy, the sausage was firm but not dripping in grease and the toast wasn’t burned. When I ordered tea, I got a small pot of tea that provided me with three mugs, one which I shared with my friend who I was dining with.
The prices were also very inexpensive. The only reason our bill was over twenty bucks (for two people) was because I ordered a big meal (I was very hungry).
Service was polite and outgoing and I look forward to having breakfast there again very soon! At great place in Hamilton for an all day breakfast!

Boo — even our local friends there don’t eat here. Terrible service and the food was just barely ok. It took about 5 minutes before someone even came to the register so that I could pay!
