The chicken burrito was very delicious. I love the ambiance. It is still a regular British pub though. It is kind of pricy for the food.

i was really let down by this place. i had heard really great things so i decided to treat myself to a half rack of ribs. they were dry, bland, and hardly had any meat on them. the fries were overcooked.

24hrs after my visit here I’m writing this review because it still bothers me. I’ve never been treated like this before(because we are mid 30’s and not drunk morons). We are both working professionals. My friend and I were out celebrating the end to his promotional exam. We stopped at a place earlier, had an afternoon pizza and two beers. We headed over to check out a few historic churches, stopped in at the armory to say hi to the troops, walked over to the Pheasant Plucker for an afternoon beer. It was pretty empty inside, walked up to the bar to order a beer and immediately the blond bartender was standoffish. We were in a good mood, cracking some jokes with each other, catching up on each others lives. Not even a friendly hello from the bartender. I order the beers and she quips back«Have you guys been drinking already?» Well, yes mom I thought, its a beauty day, 4pm, why not enjoy a patio beer. She starts going on this power trip at her EMPTY bar(now we know why) about how she doesn’t have to serve us and blah blah blah. My buddy and I are taken back, is she serious? We just left the military compound, it’s been hours since our 2 lunch beers. I mean we are pretty much sober, we look at each other in disbelief, are we really getting this kind of service? We waited for her to pour our beers, we left and walked across the street to another patio who were very welcoming. What a pretentious joke she is. She not only lost paying, problem free customers, she lost the dinner we would have ordered and her tip. Added, my bud bought a house nearby so all that potential future revenue is gone and I will suggest to everyone we come across to avoid this place as its a competitive business and there are many more excellent options in the downtown core. She shouldn’t work in the service industry. Leave your personal problems at home. Your job is to serve beer responsibly, we asked for one not ten. And why do you think it’s your job to decide who can and cannot drink in your establishment(those days are long gone) If I owned this business she’d be fired. As a business owner you want revenue above all, next to customer safety, and she is taking from your pockets. We will continue to have occasional afternoon patio beers responsibly but not here ever! Had we had a good experience we would walk over often and spend money. Too bad this experience could have easily been much better

Came here while visiting my cousin in Hamilton and she took us here for brunch. It was pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon. The bar area was pretty much full and a lot of people were already getting their drink on at 2pm in the afternoon. The place looked like your typical local pub that is full of wooden tables and chairs with tvs around the whole restaurant. We seated ourselves at a table and were given menus for lunch. A few of us were craving for breakfast and we had to ask the person beside us to borrow the breakfast menu because our waitress did not give us the breakfast menu. None the less, we all decided on different items on the menu. I decided to go with the Bison Shepherd’s Pie(a classic favourite made with lean bison, topped with mashed potatoes and cheese) with a side of their potato, cheddar cheese, and bacon soup. The boyfriend went with the Humongous Breakfast(3 eggs — any style, bacon, haggus, square sausage, brown beans, potato scone, fried mushrooms, homefries, and toast). My cousin decided to go with their Breakfast Poutine(2 eggs — any style, home fries, cheese, gravy, bacon or sausage and toast). Her boyfriend ordered the Bison Burger(a half pound of bison grilled to perfection) with a side of fries. The food here is pretty affordable and you get a ton of food for the price you pay. I enjoyed my Bison Shephard’s Pie and even had more than enough to doggy bag it. The Potato, Cheddar Cheese and Bacon soup was a little disappointing. It was flavourless and watered down. Another thing that was a big turn-off was that the washrooms were disgusting and off in the corner on the second floor of the restaurant. One toilet was clogged and the other stall, the toilet dispenser was broken. Overall, the food was mediocre and the customer service could have been better. We ended up having to walk up to the bar area to pay for our meals as we were in a rush to leave. Next time I’m in Hamilton, I’ll pluck this restaurant off my list.

The Pheasant Plucker seems to be a staple in Hamilton. It’s clean and always seems to be hopping. We’ve been to events upstairs(which I don’t think is always open). We went for an after dinner drink after our dinner. There is a juke box, it’s loud & they have lots of beer on tap. It’s a mixed crowd of all ages… **if you find yourself in the Hammer looking for a pint… this is the place!**

Went here on Monday, had the wings and ribs. Very good, the ribs were a bit on the dry side but besides that the food was good. My mom had the Bangers and mash and said they were excellent!
