Maurya’s restaurant is the one of the most promising restaurants in Kamloops. We provide truly authentic Indian food along with a variety of vegan and gluten free options. Our restaurant is well known not just for its high quality service and food, but also for the homely atmosphere it creates for our customers who come to enjoy scrumptious Indian cuisines.

We also have a banquet hall which can accommodate up to 60 – 80 people, which is an excellent place to host a birthday party, Meetings or wedding anniversary. Be it any occasion, we will try to make it a memorable one for you.

Dilip Kumar Maurya completed his chef course from India in 1992 and is specialized in Indian curry and tandoori section. He has worked in India Taj group of hotels, Maurya Sheraton and Holiday inn for well over 6 years. In 1997 he came to Canada as a landed immigrant and worked in Kelowna an Indian chef and then opened an Indian restaurant in Penticton, later decided to move to Kamloops. He has been working as head chef, owner and manager of Maurya’s since it opening in May 2004. I am a purist which means I make every sauce from scratch with home ground roast whole spices and I love to present my food well and do take great pride of my Kitchen.

At Maurya’s you will find Indian traditional serving along with a relax, fun and friendly atmosphere where you and your family will have a wonderful experience. The ambiance of our restaurant keeps the Indian passion alive here in Kamloops at Maurya’s restaurant, especially in the food. Come find it in authentic Indian favorites.

Had dinner on June 3, with extended family. The owner/chef is from Lucknow, India a place very well respected for its culinary heritage. We asked for chef’s recommendations for a chicken dish, a lamb dish and ordered basmati rice with jeera tarka (was not on menu), with some yellow daall.
The food and dining experience was AMAZING!!! Highly recommend it. Especially try the Chicken karahi, lamb curry and yellow daal.

Fantastic!!!
Love indian food, was sent here by locals, place is unreal. Great single meals and options, got a combination platter, with the curry hot, everything was fantastic. Great service, really can’t say enough good things about this place. Outside looks rough, but go in, your gona be glad U did!!!

I have been to Maurya’s a couple of times and always enjoyed the food. Probably the best samosas I have ever had.
Service and ambience are okay; the building is obviously a bit older. Come for the food.

Mmm! I’m pretty sure I could eat at Maurya’s everyday and not get tired of it. The food there is that good! I have yet to be disappointed.
Maurya’s is a great place for the vegetarian or vegan in your life. Traditionally, Indian cuisine offers a wide variety of veg-friendly dishes and Maurya’s is no exception. The malai kofta and the saag paneer are my personal favourites. All of their dishes are available in a range of spice levels so don’t hesitate to let your server know how spicy you like it.
The high quality of food is exactly the same when you order takeout as when you choose to dine-in. Personally I prefer to eat at the restaurant since the service here is fantastic. The staff are all knowledgeable about everything on the menu and are eager to make suggestions. Our waitress even noticed that the wrong type of naan bread had been brought to our table and made a point to fix it right away.
If you’re interested in taking in some delicious Indian cuisine in a warm, friendly atmosphere, I definitely recommend checking out Maurya’s.

Enjoyed a lovely well priced meal served in copper chafing dishes which kept it wonderfully warm. We had saag paneer and bhindi with basmati rice seasoned with cumin and peas. Highly recommend.

We had just arrived in Kamloops, kinda in the middle of the BC valley. We wanted something a little different. We were recommended to try Maurya’s. We don’t know if it was the only Indian spot in town. But if it was, then Kamloopians need to aim a little higher in their pursuits.
Clearly this is a family run business, and from the looks of things on a late Sunday night, many other Indian families were also there, chatting, serving themselves from a buffet counter. So far, so good.
The problem with Maurya’s is that it’s so regular. The sauces were bland and not the expected «hot», as the menu billed. The Chicken Tikka Masala was something I could have made in a few minutes –no real kick, nothing distinctive, the pieces of chicken also not too moist. The Samosas were a little too dense and had no appeal to them, even when you dipped them in sauce. The cucumber salad with carrots was underdressed, with jutting chunks of carrots pretty much taking over the whole dish.
I actually had the feeling that were we in a Mexican restaurant, the mixture for a couple of our chicken dishes really would not have been that much different from a burrito filling. It was that uneventful. There was little if any zip or freshness or even herbs in any of our dishes. Sure we ate a lot and there was plenty to go around, but honestly, this almost was Indian-lite, and had none of the zest and tang I came to expect from Indian cuisine.
