Domino’s Pizza

Got an e-​mail for ½ price pizza so thought I would pick up a couple of pizzas for supper. They only put toppings on ½ of each pizza so I guess it wasn’t such a good deal. Second time I have got their so called ½ price pizza and last time was good. Different location though. Next time maybe go back there.

Domino’s used to be a family favourite but eventually I realized there was more pizza to be had and they fell off my radar for several years. A work lunch reminded me that their pizza is pretty decent and my sister’s almost weekly 2 for 1 Tuesday ordering pointed out the affordability. So into the breach we went this past Tuesday.
We ordered the XL Bacon Chicken Ranch and a Canadian along with a large garlic cheese fingers. First off, Domino’s order tracker? Best thing ever! So simple yet so brilliant! Our delivery location is only about 10 minutes away so our pizza arrived fast and hot. The garlic pizza fingers are delicious! Loaded with just the right amount of garlic butter and cheese. I could probably just order that and be happy stinking up my breath with garlicky goodness.
Domino’s tomato sauce is oddly sweet and the pepperoni very salty so the Canadian was not a favourite. It just tasted weird. The ranch sauce and toppings combo on the other was just right and that one was polished off quickly. I find their crust to be a bit tough and dry and it’s more noticeable if a slice has too much crust. I don’t do dips so I feel it’s a lost portion of pizza and that is sad.
Yesterday we ordered again (pizza + illness = comfort) and I went with extra cheese, mushroom and Brooklyn pepperoni. That pepperoni isn’t as salty and I think the extra cheese tempered the sweet sauce so it was a more enjoyable pie. But I’m still not convinced.
I think I’d stick with the pizzas that don’t have their tomato sauce and order when a deal makes it an affordable option when we are too lazy to cook and/​or drive to our favourite place.
