Their first location was the first escape room I’ve tried in Toronto. Being the first of its kind (before so many others have popped up) I was amazed at the time. Room escape is really a good alternative activity for a group that isn’t eating or drinking. However, the only compliment I can give Esc-​It is that it was really the first of its kind.
Compare it with literally any other escape room around the GTA and you will find that their background stories for their rooms are unoriginal. Before even commenting on their props, their ‘Bedroom Nightmare’ story is literally — you wake up in a bedroom unable to get out. Really? No more depth or story is added as you escape.
Onto the rooms and props themselves — are they even considered props? You will find mostly cheap dollar store props which just screams lazy and uninspiring. One of the props we encountered is literally words written on the back of an old poster that was cut up in pieces. Piecing that piece of garbage together was considered a puzzle.
I would be more lenient towards my rating of this place if it appears they’re making an effort to make their rooms more appealing. But with all the exposure and experience they have in the industry (being one of the first to open), they are lacking and I’m sure will close down soon.

Everything felt very used and cheap, and kind of discouraged us from being really immersed in the experience. All the props were either broken or almost broken, and came from the dollar store. I think they need a big upgrade and focus on making the experience more engaging.

It was our first time doing an escape room and we chose the Storage of Secrets. The staff members were extremely friendly and took the time to explain everything to us. Yes, a few things could have been improved (i.e. the batteries on the flash lights were weak so we had a hard time seeing stuff) but it wasn’t anything serious. Overall, it was a really fun time for a great price. We’ll definitely be back!

Meh is all I can say about this place. My boyfriend and I did the Wine Cellar and here are my comments:
1) Unrealistic room. Based on the props and layout, one simply cannot get immersed in the scenario at all. Low budget spent on rooms. At many other Escape Rooms, players are typically shown a video of the scenario before the mission begins. Here, a young teenaged guy just verbally gave us the scenario. It was NOT plausible at all. The room had a broken flashlight and other broken props.
2) Amateur style clues: the clues in this room were literally taken out of your high school logic puzzles booklet. Boring and lame.
3) Helpfulness of staff: meh. Staff lacked enthusiasm for their game. It was like they themselves didn’t buy into it. We were also told that we’re allowed only one clue, but my other friends did the same room and were offered two. There was just a coldness to the staff that worked here.
I wouldn’t return. It was $ 15pp and not worth a cent. I’d much rather pay $ 10 more pp and do Escape Games.

Went there yesterday and it was unbelievably disappointing. Staff was not very professional and the whole place is poorly made. Did the museum room and staff did not brief the room clearly and also the room itself was very poorly made. Lots of punctures in the walls, most props were broken/​some props were split in half and used for the room and you can also hear everyone talking in the lobby from inside the room.
There was no lockers to put our stuff in while we were in the room and we were allowed to keep our phones. I’ve been to many escape rooms like omescape, trapped and escape games and by far this was ridiculously the worst place yet.
If it was possible to give it 0 stars, i would definitely adjust accordingly to it.

EDIT: Now that I’ve tried another escape room, Escape Games (
), I honestly wouldn’t consider Esc-​It in the same category.
Escape Games actually engineered and built multi-​floor rooms with hidden areas and automatic releases. I mean, Esc-​It by comparison is very DIY. Post-​its. Costco cash box. Dollar store ping pong balls. All the Escape Games props were authentic and none of them felt cheap. I’m sorry, but there is honestly no comparison.
This is $ 15 (after the 40% Facebook + cash discount; I’m not sure if you have to pay tax) and Escape Games was $ 22 tax included. I would honestly just save my money and pay the extra $ 7 for a truly well planned and very impressive escape room experience at Escape Games. I wouldn’t consider spending $ 15 here for a budget escape room.

I’m not sure if it’s just a temporary closure, but I’m glad the «Bedroom Nightmare» escape room is out of commission. It was my first escape room experience and even without anything to compare it to, I could already tell that it was not great.
The clues and the design of the room felt cheap and it’s just unclear what you’re supposed to be doing. You assume everything is in the room for a reason and in a well-​designed room, clues are clear and make sense. It doesn’t have to be easy, but it has to be reasonable to a degree.
Without giving anything away, if they ask you to count all the red circles on the wall, a good establishment wouldn’t put a dark orange not-quite-perfectly-round-circle-and-therefore-it’s-technically-an-oval on the wall and leave that up to interpretation. That’s not a clever puzzle. That’s just the room designer either not drawing a perfect enough circle or not thinking about how in the context of a puzzle or escape game, the participants will assume everything is done for a reason.
There were other parts of the room and experience that left us scratching our heads about whether it was a mistake or part of the escape. Even when we asked for a clue and the employee came in and quickly turned on the lights, we didn’t know whether or not turning on the lights was part of the puzzle (because you don’t really have to solve anything) and whether we were supposed to leave the lights on when he left.
As other people said, you can hear other people playing in the other rooms.
In general, I feel like the room was cheap (puzzles and decorations alike) and clearly not very well thought out. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Esc-​It is one of many escape rooms in the area and this one — at least — is worth trying.
In case you’ve never been to one before: You book a room on their site (the different ones are all listed there), go there and you try and escape the room by unlocking all the puzzles in said room. There’s a ton of different rooms to try so going multiple times is encouraged! I’ve been twice and got out one of the two times. Once you finish — win or lose — they take your picture of your group. They encourage you to decorate the picture a little and then they post it on their wall.
It costs $ 20 per person on Monday-​Thursday and $ 25 on Friday-​Sunday. They offer 20% off if you check-​in on Facebook and another 20% off if you pay in cash — good deal if you ask me.
The place itself looks a little old but it honestly doesn’t take away from the experiences I’ve had. If you’ve ever been curious about this type of thing, go ahead and give it a try.

This is a first for me. I’ve never done an escape room before. Did the cursed library today with 3 other people. We failed, but barely. It was quite fun! The service was delightful. We started a tad late, but they were okay with that. I heard that some of the other rooms were behind schedule, but they were very courteous with the other customers who were waiting for their rooms. They do have a few board games one can play while waiting. Ah. Lots of polaroids (wall of shame and wall of fame). I’d come again.

First time trying a room escape and it was so much fun! Fun puzzles and a very friendly staff!
The place looks a bit dilapidated to be honest but it definitely doesn’t take away from the excitement once you’re in that room.
Plus 20% off if you’re paying cash and another 20% off if you check in with Facebook. Can’t beat that!
Had so much fun and I will most definitely be coming back!

Went there today with my nephew and we really enjoyed it. From the minute we walked in, the staff was very friendly and explained everything. We did the mission museum and we figured 80% of the way out. I really appreciated that one of the explained to us how to solve what was missing (I never would have guessed it). Lots of fun and will certainly return, maybe with more people to help.

This place knows whats up! So much fun and the place is kept very clean. The location is very nice and inviting… When you walk in, you see a huge wall of polaroid photos of winners and losers of the escape challenge. You’ll get one taken of you too! Theres a large room with tables for birthday parties and many escape challenges to choose from. The staff is fun and helpful… Awesome experience! I would definitely go back. Everyone had an amazing time.

Played Code War and it was pretty fun. It was difficult enough that we took a bit of time to solve it and puzzles made sense. I’d definitely come again and try some of their other rooms.
Make sure you check in on FB and pay in cash for a discount when you go there.

Walked in on Saturday February 14^th around 5:30 to see if we’re lucky enough to get a room since our dinner reservation wasn’t until 9pm. Luckily we did because I’ve heard that you usually need at least a weeks reservation.
We started at 7pm and had 45 minutes to solve the clues in the room to free ourselves. We went into the room called «Code war» which was at the medium difficulty. The room itself looked pretty simple. I won’t say much more other than that on fear of ruining it for others.
With all the adrenaline rush, time seemed to have just flew by. No shame, we had to use our one and only clue which somewhat help speed things up. But next thing we knew we had 8 minutes left and I was positive we were not leaving there alive!!! But in the end, with 3 minutes and 20 seconds to spare, we crawled out of the room (kidding!).
I can’t wait to come back and try out all the other rooms! The staff was very enthusiastic in helping and was very happy for us when we made it out of the room. I would definitely recommend my friends to come and try it out!

This is a great place to try out one of the escape it rooms especially for first timers. I’ve tried three different rooms with different groups of friends and family and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them.
It is reasonably priced if you check in on fb and pay with cash. I would definitely recommend Code War and Bedroom Nightmares.

Returned here for my birthday after I hosted my Unilocal event here so I can give this place a fair review. My friends and I first attempted the cryptic cellar and learned that we were not as smart as we anticipated and unfortunately failed our mission. This however, brought the gambling addicts out of us as we quickly booked another appointment for after dinner to redeem our pride in one of their newest Museum themed rooms. This one we actually beat and we celebrated with a free polaroid since we went there for my birthday.
I won’t discuss specific puzzles in particular but I will say that when solving the puzzles you really need to understand how the people who created the room thinks. Once you get into the groove of how they think then you begin to understand how/​where to look for certain clues and how to solve them. Beware though, it is really easy to get into tunnel vision mode which essentially will waste all your time. Also don’t be a hoarder like I was when I was a super noob at my Unilocal event and wait until the very last second to use the hint. USE THE HINT AS SOON AS YOU NEED IT!
What I appreciated the most is the level of service from both the owners and the staff. They are thorough with their instructions, extremely friendly, helpful with their hints, and most important they take constructive criticism really seriously and work hard towards improving their business mode. Definitely love supporting these young entrepreneurs and I hope that they will continue to build their business successfully.
Also beware. If you have a type A personality and get addicted to challenges very easily, it is highly likely that you will blow a lot of money here. It is like a real life arcade game. I kid you not, I power walked down the street to withdraw cash so I can play round 2 =p.

After previously visiting their original location my one and only criticism (too small a venue) has been addressed and THEN SOME. While ESC-​IT cannot lay claim that they created the room escape concept as that finds its roots in the trendier parts of Asia, they can proudly say that they are the first in the GTA/​Toronto to frontier the concept — and now there are room escape busineseses popping up everywhere, each with their own take on rooms. But ESC-​IT is the best.
Who else has this many rooms, that many people on the wall of shame and that many staff? Who I ask you? WHO?! No body I tells ya!
Always trying to stay ahead of the curve, they’re continually designing and redesigning their rooms asking for player feedback on how they would score the difficulty of their room, what could have gone better, etc. I mean these guys are hella-​proactive!
I played in two games when I returned for my second visit and I remain a dismal 1 – 1 in my overall score. Don’t worry I’m going to eat all the fish brain food and come back and go on a 10 – 0 run to beat the rooms of Esc-​it!!!
Challenge Accepted!

ESC-​IT is the first ever real life escape games I participated, so I have no reference to how it is compared to other similar business.
But it was fun!
The rooms that we played were both well set up and spacious. We ended up solving the Bedroom Nightmare (³⁄₅) and Cryptic Cellar (3.5÷5) which were fun and challenging.
The staff here is really patient and encouraging.
I definitely will be coming back again to play with my friends and try out other rooms.

Definitely a huge fan of ESC-​IT! Went in there for a huge Unilocal event! Can’t believe how many people went! I was joined by a team of 5 and it has been the most amazing time! Some of the hints can get tricky and at times, you would really need to use your brain power for it. But that’s the best part!
The staff there are fantastic. They are so helpful and super friendly. If you need help, don’t forget to press the panic button! They’re usually pretty keen on that!
The rooms are still advancing and they are still fixing some of the issues here and there, but there is always room for improvement and that is what they are all about.
They’re very opened to opinions and if you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to say something!

I went a couple weeks ago with 3 others, and we chose the bedroom nightmare.
First off, checking in on facebook & paying with cash will bring you from $ 25 down to $ 15 per person (big difference!)
It got a little hot and claustrophobic in the room with 4 people, quite small and little ventilation. But I was honestly used to it because I visited this studio once a week for 10 years because it used to be a piano studio thats now closed down. Brings back memories! (Still smells the same)
Lots of hints and clues to solve to get out the door.
Unfortunately we were on the wall of shame, had the code but our timer didnt work so we werent aware of the time remaining (boo)
If you need a place to go, something different and fun, this is definately something to try!
