Markham Aquarium 2 U

I was looking to buy turtles in the Markham area. The store was surprisingly bigger then I thought. Has a huge selection of saltwater and freshwater fish. The workers there seems very knowledgeable and gave good advice on which products to buy.
The turtles were 3 for $ 40 or 1 for $ 15. I was actually at Market Village 2^nd floor pet store before coming to this store. The turtles at Market Village was not active and all of them were sleeping. Compared to Markham aquarium 2U they were much healthier and swimming. I was very happy to see animals treated kindly. I would definitely come back here in the future for my future pet supplies.
Please give this place a try, its in a bad location but its definitely worth a visit if you are near the pacific mall area.

I was looking for a nice betta fish and knew there were a few fish stores along Steeles Ave. This was the first one that I drove by, so I decided to stop in.
I also have a betta fish suffering from fin rot and I tried to ask the sales associate what I can for him. I told him what I had been doing already and his response was pretty much, your betta’s done for. Fair enough. I wasn’t expecting too much of a response.
Onto the betta fish. They have quite a few half moons, veil tails, and crown tails. That being said, they’re kept in very poor conditions. Some visibly had fin rot and they were still for sale. I didn’t feel like going to all the other fish stores, so I decided on the healthiest betta I could find. He was $ 15, which is a fair price for a half moon betta fish. I asked if they knew the age of their bettas, since they’re a lot bigger than my other one. Their only response was «they’re full grown.» That doesn’t really help; I could have figured that one out on my own. I wouldn’t be to keen on buying a fish more than a year old.
I asked if they had a guarantee on their fish, which they don’t. Kind of a bummer if I spend $ 15 on one fish and have it kick the bucket from the shock of being in very poor conditions to being in liveable ones. Upon further inspection, the betta I purchased from them also has fin rot. There’s nothing I can do except nurse him back to health, since I know for a fact that they won’t take him back.
On the plus side, there’s no tax if you pay cash.

I’m from the US, and I was hunting for asian arowanas, since we can’t get them in the States. This store is huge! They are definitely focused on arowanas here, they have a lot of asian varieties, mostly crossbacks. The fish aren’t as large as some specimens I found in other fish stores, but they definitely were the healthiest, with the best color, and quality. It’s possible that they can’t keep their fish long enough to grow them huge, at other stores, we saw 20+ inch specimens but the quality may not have been as good as this store. There were also red, blood red, redtails, goldenheads, silvers, jardinis. I don’r remember seeing any green, blue, black, or leichardti. They also have shrimp, parrot fish, koi, gold fish, discus… all the popular fish for asian people.
I was definitely impressed. This was definitely the best place I visited in the Markham area. I can’t give 5 stars because I didn’t really speak to the employees to test their knowledge and friendliness… nor did they really want to speak with me. They did say «hello and can I help you», but didn’t really ask what kind of fish I had or give me insights on fishcare… My LFS owner does that and often discourages me from buying things I don’t need or aren’t compatible with what i already have… that’s the kind of advice and service that keeps me coming back.
