Living in Mississauga, i’ve found myself down at the Fantastic Flea Market more times than I can even recall! I remember back when you had to «pay» to get in! If you’re looking for something in particular you’ll probably find it. There is literally something for everyone! Collectibles, games, swords, clothes, knick knacks, and my love VINYL! Practically every second shop has at least 1 or 2 boxes of vinyl records. There are about 3 shops that specialize in vinyl, 2 of which are miraculously organized and the 3rd well… You could spend a whole day in there and barely make a dent as stuff is stacked everywhere. I was able to pick up 5 albums for $ 24, and yea you bet I haggled! I actually really like this flea market, there’s always something fun to find and most of the people who work there are nice and are willing to make you a deal! 4⁄5

Walking around money would be smart, it’s got some deals, but it’s also a little bit stuffy and musty smelling. I went there only to find something specific other than that I am not going to go back unless I need to. They have nice things, nice record collection and some good prices.

I frequent one of the jewelery shops at this flea market. I can’t recall the name of it, but it’s probably one of the larger ones with a counter that wraps all the way around to form a rectangle. I know the jeweler’s name is Jamie. He does amazing work. I also love some of the other booths they have, especially the book vendors. I have a real love of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps series, and I can get essentially the entire collection here for under $ 20. We also picked up the Hunger Games triology(hard cover) for $ 10. It’s a little dingy looking, but it’s a flea market, so what do you expect? I would go back.

This flea market is quite small and a bit dizzying when you first enter. I didn’t find any interest in many of the items featured there but that’s just my personal opinion and taste. I guess you can describe it as a run-down Honest Ed’s. it was awfully empty as well for a Sunday. I wish there were a few more food vendors down there! But other than that, I probably wouldn’t come back.

This is the better of Mississauga’s two flea markets since it’s not as crowded and the items are neater though it’s only open on the weekends. The entrance btw is beside the Aldo outlet down the stairs going to the basement if you’re inside Dixie Outlet Mall. The place is a bit of a maze so I’d recommend staying close or having phones on if you’re with a family. Anyways it is a mix of junk sprinkled with useful stuff especially now that cell phone case and cheap electronic shops are everywhere. Not all the knock-offs are bad though, I don’t mind a knockoff soccer jersey if it’s at a cheap discount. My favourite stores include the record stores, the antique and small furniture stores, and the store that sells hockey cards(the hockey card place sells full sets and signed singles, not a tonne of places to get that type of memoribilia now sadly since those stores closed down). This is also a fantastic place to get cheap kids toys from because there’s a place that sells a tonne of hot wheel cars and lots of action figures from other places. I’d recommend going here and taking the time to browse through stuff alone rather than being in a rush. Don’t plan on what to get, just pick out something neat if it catches your eye and is at a good price. A good chunk of the vendors don’t mind giving a bit of a discount but barter within reason(ie, don’t expect to get 50% off something already cheap). Good way to go is to ask for a discount if you’re buying multiple items like $ 5 or so off a $ 30 purchase if you buy multiple CDs or books. Also just because it is a flea market doesn’t mean that everything is gonna be cheap or discounted. I’d avoid getting something expensive which needs to work and preferably have a rebate such as expensive electronics or expensive jewelery from here. It’s not for everyone but a couple trips when you have time wouldn’t hurt and you might find some sort of gem. People who fix up old furniture and antiques for example seem to be getting stuff from here all the time.

I like my Flea Market’s chocked-full of junk, not dollar stores. Fantastic Flea Market certainly has a couple dollar stores, or should I say cheap commercial crap, but there are at least enough junky ones to make it worth your while. It’s located underneath the Dixie Outlet mall, and while it may not be hard to find, it can be rather difficult to find your way around in, so be prepared to get lost. It’s not gigantic though, I’d say you could peruse everything in about an hour. They have a little bit of everything. From old video games to cheap luggage to samurai swords. I was specifically going to see if they had any good records and I wasn’t disappointed. Literally thousands of records down there and you could easily spend an entire day going through them all. Another pretty awesome find was a really sweet looking vintage cruiser bike from England. Don’t be afraid to haggle too, you can definitely get that item of yours for cheaper if your not afraid to ask. I’d say it’s definitely a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
