I had a pad thai craving and wanted something quick, close and cheap. So of course Thai Express was the only option. It’s been a long time since I’ve been. The food is what it is and as some review said it really is the McDonalds of Thai food. I’ve had some awesome Thai food in Toronto so this was of course not even close to that quality. Still I got the chicken pad thai and it was not bad. It was a lot of food for 9 dollars and I was able to satisfy my Thai craving. Definitely a good option for a quick, cheap meal but don’t expect amazing quality.

You gotta adjust your expectations when you’re eating Thai Express. It’s perhaps best described as the McDonald’s of Thai food(probably with as many locations too). Your food will come out fast, you’ll get a bright and cheerful environment, and the taste will be OK, and if you’re not lucky it will be super bland or super salty. This is not a restaurant quality Thai food. It’s not even real Thai food by any stretch of the imagination. But compared to many other similar-level eating experiences, and especially compared to other Thai Express locations, this is most probably my favourite one so far. And to be honest, it is SUPER far from where I live, so most likely I’ll just visit here if I happen to be in the area. Why do I like it so much? It may just be that, at 2 pm on a Sunday afternoon, it was quiet. Thai Express, VIlla Madina, and a Vanelli’s make up a mini-food court unit in the Heartland Town Centre. It’s very interesting to me to see that all were franchises under the MTY Group(kind of like Cara owning Harvey’s, Swiss Chalet, Montana’s, etc). But in effect, you get a mini-enclosed food court in a sprawling strip mall, dedicated to only 3 booths, and such you almost feel like you got the whole food court to yourself. Service was fast and pleasant. We got the tom yum soup, which was A-OK if a bit un-complex in the flavour department(Thai food purists would know what this means). It wasn’t too sour and the shrimp was very plump and juicy which was nice. Also ordered the pad sew, which was very delicious and flavourful if a bit heavy on the sodium. The chicken was tender enough, though as expected not too tasty as it wasn’t marinated at all. I’ll come back if I’m in the area(if they haven’t gone out of business yet coz it was super quiet). The only downside is that both dishes clock in at almost 10 bucks each after tax, which probably makes it only around 2 – 3 bucks cheaper per dish than a «proper» Thai restaurant, which is what will most likely sway people away from it.

Terribly stale food. The chicken was inedible. Informed manager as an FYI, even told him we didn’t want money back or to get anything else but he still became defensive and flat out denied it was stale. Terrible food and service.

Went there today for some soup. It was just blahh! Not much flavor to it. Plus I think the guy should’ve asked me at least what size I want. He didn’t even tell me that there are two sizes. I guess he just wanted to make a sale for higher amount. The quantity was huge. I couldn’t finish it all.

I don’t even remember the last time I ate from Thai Express. During this visit I was just picking up some take-out for my sister. I arrived around 5 pm to order a chicken pad thai to go. I actually didn’t get to order for at least 10 minutes because there was only one person working there. The man there was actually the cashier and cook. This is why I gave them a pretty low rating. Other than that I don’t really have anything else to say since I didn’t eat anything from Thai Express.

The only reason I’m giving them one star is because I have no choice. Came here for lunch today, I got the stir-fry with noodles, started eating it was ok, not the best but just ok. look down at my fork… there is a hair mixed with my noodles, now I just wasted $ 9.50, still hungry cause I wasn’t even close to half way. I’m pissed, I waste my money, gas and time
