The Diamond Company

Whatever you do, do NOT go to this store. All they do is LIE. I specifically said I needed my diamond band before Feb 1^st and this was in early Jan. They told me, «NO PROBLEM! 100%! It’ll be ready Jan 28,29!». I needed this ring before Feb 1^st because I am MOVING out of province and now I have to push back my flight. They’re horrible, they ignore calls and they give you excuses after excuses! How are these ppl in business? I’m so upset that I didn’t see the previous reviews before I went in to their store. I would never have bought from them. They fail to commit and follow through with their initial agreement with you regarding time and this seems to be a repeat thing with them. They will NOT honour the agreed upon date in which your jewellery is supposed to be ready. STAY AWAY. The quality is a joke too. Just do yourself a favour and don’t even bother with them.
April 9 2016 update:
I came back for the weekend and got a chance to look at the band – surprise surprise, it doesn’t fit. It doesn’t go past my knuckle. GREAT SIZING. I’m not going to bother getting them to fix it, it’s been screw ups after screw ups. I’m finished with them and finding a legitimate place to resize the ring. Please don’t go here. Horrible people.

First of all I got my ring after a month and a half, after calling every customer service personnel there is. I even talked to the manager, William, who is the rudest person on earth.
Anyways, I got my ring finally AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. I will post a pic as well so you guys can see how my ring looks like compared to what i purchased at Michael Hill — it’s just ridiculous. Total rip-​off!!! (the picture with the rose gold ring in a brown box AND michael hill gold ring in a pink and white box)
OH AND BE CAREFUL: THEY HAVE A NO REFUND POLICY!
PS: Do not order custom made because it look nothing like what you will try at the shop and once you prepay there’s no going back.

When my fiancé and I first came into the Diamond and Company store (at the Scarborough Town Centre), we had a very good experience and interaction with one of the workers. The ring that I liked was out of my budget but she informed us of how we can do a few changes and we can still get the ring how we want it to be. As she discussed with her manager (I believe his name is Sammy or Fady… something like that), he approved. A few weeks later the employer called me to tell me the wax is in for the frame of my ring. When in went into the store, it looked a bit different than what I expected (not to my liking) and the worker stated «Don’t worry, it’ll be beautiful». My fiancé picked up the ring, proposed and when I looked at the ring… it did not look like anything she promised. The ring was dipped in yellow gold which she did promise, but the shape and frame of it was not what we were expecting. I was highly disappointed and I do know the price my fiancé paid for it and in my opinion, he was ripped off. This was our first experience…
My second experience with Diamond and Company was when I went to go search for a St. Christopher pendant and chain for my fiancé. When I went into the store, they only had female ones. Another worker that was there stated that we can order from their catalog. I saw one that I really liked and ordered it. The worker suggested a chain that I TOLD HER WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO SHORT, and she INSISTED it would be ok. When I got the chain and my fiancé tried it on… IT WAS TOO SHORT. I had to go back to the store and exchange it and PAY AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE to get a different chain as the one she originally sold me didn’t come in a longer size. We had to reorder this new chain and when it came the colour of the chain did NOT match the pendant. The manager (Fady/​Sammy whatever his name is) said he can dip it to make it look more vintage. We said ok. He dipped it and it looked like crap. He also did some sort of buffing to the back of the pendant (which I didn’t ask him to do). If this wasn’t bad enough… two weeks after we got the chain, the clasp broke. Went in to get it fixed and it was ANOTHER CHARGE. I went from ordering one thing to getting something that was totally out of budget and not what I was looking for. I am highly annoyed with Diamond and Company and their lack of professional service.
The only reason why I would even give this place one star was for our first experience with one of the workers there. She was friendly and made the experience nice, however the ring didn’t even come out the way we wanted it.
In the end, a bad complain is a bad complain. Take it for what its worth. Research your diamond, jewelry and the companies before settling on it. What may seem to be good, may not always be. My fiancé and I like to work with budgets and are fair/​reasonable. I DO NOT plan on shopping here again for jewelry and I suggest you don’t either.

I wouldn’t recommend anyone going here.
It’s been 5 weeks since I ordered a ring here, they promised to deliver within a week, promised almost everything I asked for, little did I know they were only trying to lure me in, after the initial deposit they gave me quite a run around. They lie, cheat and deceive, DO NOT GO HERE !

Yes, they may give you a good deal, but their customer service is terrible. My engagement ring was purchased from this store. They did not meet the promised pick-​up date and did not call when the ring was finally ready. Upon picking up the ring, the band did not match the design that they were asked to re-​create and promised that they could. Full of apologies they promised to have the band re-​designed and to provide a wax mold for approval before completing the ring. After several phone calls, we discovered that they had no recollection of the request to re-​design the band. Luckily I had already taken home the original ring! When I took home the ring, they did not give me a box or any explanation about how the warranty works; this took two more trips into the store.
Since taking it home, I have fallen in love with my ring and am no longer asking or trusting them to re-​design it; however, I brought the ring in this weekend because the prongs holding the diamond were not smooth and were scratching me. I was told to bring it back in during the week, before 3PM — sorry but I work, so this isn’t entirely convenient for me. Luckily my fiancé was available to drop it off. Once again we were promised that if we bring it in during the week, they would do the repair within in an hour — I told them I was afraid to leave my ring over night because I may never see it again! So when my fiancé dropped off the ring they said a week! I had to call back and remind them of their promise for one hour — finally they agreed to one hour. One hour to one week and back to one hour — how can that be so?
And one of the most outrageous things that occurred during one of our many phone calls to the store — by the way, they never call back when they say they will — my fiancé overheard the manager say to the staff «we’ve got to start writing things down!» Yes, I’d say that is good practice.
Do not trust this place with your cash or valuables. They have made a very special part of my life full of frustration and worry.

I have had an awful experience at this place.
I came into this store one day looking for an eternity band to match the wedding ring that I already had. The sales lady was very nice and took my ring back to their shop in the back to examine it so that they could make it the exact same way. She reassured me that they can match the diamonds, setting etc. the price was good so I purchased the ring with an expectation that I would have it within about 3 weeks (with the appraisal). I was super excited because this place seemed to accommodate whatever the customer wanted. This was May 20^th. Several weeks later I called and the ring was not done. I got the run around and the sales lady eventually told me that when it came in she wasn’t happy with it so she sent it back to get it fixed. She would call when it’s done. Ok, no problem, I want the ring to be done right. I waited, and waited and waited. No call. Got the run around and after many empty promises where they say they will call back, no calls… ever. I had to chase them to get any answers. Oh and try talking to anyone who was not involved in the initial sale… Ha! They kept saying they know nothing… so you always have to call at the right time when the sales person who sold you the item is working. Yay me, playing the chase game. After a very frustrating wait, the ring was done… they said to come in! I went, excited to have this ordeal over. The ring was horrible. Setting was off. Diamonds were much more yellow than my wedding band even though I was promised they would match. I was pretty angry at this point. I got the worker to call the manager on the phone to see what she could do. I wanted a refund but ‘they don’t do refunds’. The manager promised they would fix the setting and diamonds. I left extremely disappointed and went back to the waiting and chasing game. Same thing happened, no calls, the ring took forever again to be fixed. The manager eventually told me to come in as the ring was done! Yay! Not exactly. They shaved the prongs on the ring and changed some of the diamonds so that every other diamond was yellow still, just awful. I demanded a refunded and they said no, they cannot. I’m not about to throw money away so eventually I agreed to leave my wedding band with them so they can match it exactly. Its now August 7^th… over 11 weeks after the initial purchase. No ring. No calls. Nothing. I just called in to get an update and the lady said she had no idea where the ring was, what was happening, manager is on vacation for a week, and the other sales girl will call me when she comes in. Ya, right… When I asked who the manager reports to she told me that ‘she is basically the one that takes care of everything’. Then she asked me to be ‘patient’. I told her that it’s probably a poor choice of words. She agreed. So back to waiting and chasing I go. All I want at this point is a refund and to never deal with them again.
