There was a point during my home renovations where I actually felt like I lived here. I guess that’s an easy way to say Home Depot is my preferred renovation store. We bought almost everything for our renos here except for our wood flooring and paint. Everything else, from tiles to doorknobs, sinks and grout, we bought at Home Depot. The location is huge, so it tends to have whatever you’re looking for in stock. They sell supplies but also rent machines out(such as a tile cutter) for nominal fees. We had to tile a small space and instead of calling the contractor back, we rented a tile cutter and my dad was able to do the work. I’d say the price point can be a little higher than other home improvement stores(so do your homework). Another downside is the difficulty in finding someone who works in the department you need help on. Often there is only one person with a line of customers with questions. They are prompt when they get to you, but it can take time to either find someone or wait through the line.

Re: Rental of Carpet Cleaning Machine. As a pet owner and someone with wall-to-wall carpeting on my upper floor, from time to time, I’ll have to get the carpets cleaned. A few years ago, on the advice of a pet store owner, I purchased a Wet Vac in order to be able to clean my own carpets whenever I wanted to. However, the process is long, tedious, and does require a far bit of time and muscle. So over the weekend, I rented an actual Carpet Cleaning Machine from Home Depot to see what results it produced. A 4-hr rental was a mere $ 25, plus I purchased the Zep Carpet Cleaning Liquid to use with the machine at $ 10.49. Machines all appeared to be new. The checkout was smooth and the guy running the counter at the Rental Centre even tested out the machine to check that it worked, told me how to use the machine, expectation of returns, how to avoid the cleaning fee, etc. Results were BEYOND what I expected! I couldn’t use the machine for the full 4 hours, but at 2 hours, I was already exhausted and finished the portion of carpeting that I wanted to clean! Cost is soo minimal and results are so good that I would consider renting on a regular basis.

Ok Just another big giant store but, I think its smaller than the one heartland. Staff — is knowledgeable, helpful and Friendly. They will walk you through the mini projects you tend to take on at home. Variety — is not bad! Out of Stock — If they are out of stock, the employee do check other stores for you and let you know where to get the item. Projects — The employees will walk you through the mini projects you tend to take on at home. Parking — they have a huge parking Greenhouse — there plant and flower selection is pretty decent as well.

My Dad’s a fan as am I. This location did a free painting workshop earlier this year. And it’s been super helpful, as we repainted some rooms. I’ve only ever been here for paint supplies, so my experience is solely based on this section. The section is well-staffed with knowledgeable and friendly people. Don’t be afraid to approach them and ask them a question. The best part is, they bear cost in mind. Most expensive isn’t always the best, and these guys know that so they’ll never push you to buy the most expensive type of something. For instance, I really liked the Martha line of paints. But it was one of the staff members that reasoned with me. When I explained exactly what I was looking for, he directed me to Behr and CIL — cheaper than the Martha line, and with a larger selection of paints. He explained that the Martha paints are wonderful for specialty purposes… but not ideal for a whole room. That’s the kind of honest, reasonable feedback I look for from sales associates. Will return.

I’ve been here a few times for small purchases in the past and have never been impressed with the customer service.(Even though you can’t turn around without seeing at least three employees! Maybe that’s why their prices are so inflated. They have to pay more employees than there are customers in the store at any given time.) Anyhow… I’m buying my first place and it needs quite a bit of work. I’ve been getting quotes and pricing materials for a couple of days now. I looked on the website and noticed that the Home Depot does installations of all sorts and boasts better prices so went in to check things out this morning. Lo and behold, my expectations were greatly crushed. As it turns out they use contractors for installs so don’t actually have rates — and a few of the employees(especially in the paint department) looked at and reacted to my questions as if I was retarded. —- Um… NO, I’m NOT retarded… I am new to the big world of renovations… So how about try not to be a douche and deal respectfully with customers. I don’t treat people that are not from my profession like idiots just because they don’t have the same knowledge as I do. Anyhow, seriously, you work at the Home Depot. You aren’t a surgeon. Get the fuck over yourself. I should say that I spoke with two lovely employees from the kitchen design area but didn’t get their names. They were the opposite of the employees described above. These two alone earn this place a 2nd star.
