Everything here is awesome! I have been there several times and I try so many kinds of food here! Just amazing! The service is also pretty! No matter how many people here, you don’t need to wait so long!

Love the pink sushi! The lunch box specials are a good deal. Good service and food was served promptly.

The best place to eat sushi in New Westminster! I love their«pink sushi». The food tastes fresh, and very tasty! The environment is great! The place and dishes are clean. I’ve been there 10 times, and Okonomi Sushi’s servers never disappointed my experience! Even when they’ve made a small mistake,(forgot to bring the drinks on time, we didn’t even realize that) they apologized immediately, and gave us free extra appetizer. Overall, this is great Japanese restaurant! Keep up the good work!

The restaurant itself it clean and the array is nice. I walked in and immediately got seated. I looked at the menu and proceeded to order. When a server came I ordered the lunch box b and in the menu it gives you options to choose from. There was beef or chicken teriyaki and the other part was udon noodles or gyoza so I ordered chicken and gyoza and when I said that she was somewhat confused and said to me «oh, um excuse me… sorry» and she just walked off… I was left a bit confused, even more when she never came back and another server attended me not even knowing what just happened. The chicken teriyaki was real burned and I only ate 2 pieces, with the pink sushi rice they patent I personally find it quite tough and dense for sushi rice but it was interesting. The salad was immerged in dressing and I used the excess dressing to dip the gyoza’s in. :) It was okay, I mean for the price it was worth it and who knows, I’ll probably swing by again but I got to say… I really love their prawn tempura… So delish

I eat a lot of sushi. I often eat here three or more times a week. When I looked it up on Unilocal just now I was really surprised to see the ratings as I absolutely love this place. I find the service exceptional. I have yet to have a dish I didn’t like. I’m not a huge fan of rolls with things like bacon or cheese in them but even when I’ve tried these items I still like them. The pieces are not too huge, and certainly not too small. They have a daily special which gives you 30% off of some of their rolls giving you a good price to try them. Thursday is my favorite special. They also have skill with tempura. I’m not a big deep fried person, but I find when my box does have some that I do enjoy a piece or two. The inari tempura is to die for! Overall I think this place is better than any other in New West. I think it’s much higher quality than the others in this sleepy town. It is by far my favourite and I’ll continue my frequent visits. Tip: there is free parking if you pull off of 6th onto one of the side streets just past the tanning place Tip: the candy store next door mostly has stale candy

I used to love this place, it’s super close and it wasn’t too expensive considering quality and size. All the sizes have gone down immensely and it’s not that good anymore. Their one gimmick the pink rice is fun though.

So DH& came here for dinner on a Thursday night. DH had the spicy Maple roll which was 30% off. I had the Vancouver oven roll & we shared a 7 pc Yam tempura. The tea didn’t taste like green tea, it was really dark in colour. The tempura was served on a straw plate & no individual plates for us. It also came with edamame. They have a call bell on each table. Make sure when you press it that you hear the doorbell sound otherwise no one will come to your table. They only have 2 servers so sometimes you have to press it twice before you get their attention. Avoid the booths. It’s like sitting with your back against a wall. The portions seem smaller than before. They really should re-do the menu. There were a lot of things crossed off. They were quite busy tonight & also a lot of people ordering take-out.

The food is pretty good most days but the service is absolute garbage. Quantity of food has decreased while prices increased over the years this location has been open. They need to get their shit together. Also the delivery times are insane. Make sure you order 1.5hrs before you want to eat because one hour is the avg delivery time. Pisses me off each time. I think I’ll find a new sushi place.

Updated review: Okonomi is still a real nice place but their quality & portion sizes have definitely gone down. Give’m a try but they’re no longer awesome. :(

ordered 40 $ worth of take out sushi… they 20 minutes for pickup and when we went there in 20 minutes we still had to wait another 20 minutes. when we got home our $ 15.95 chirashi salad had no sauce. just a big bowl of plain rice and a 6 small pieces of shashimi. Although we have ordered this in the past they insisted there was not suppossed to be sauce but that they would give us some if we came back. So we drove back to get it… and had to wait agian, and didnt get any apology or anything. This place was good when it opened up a few years ago but now it seems the consistentsy is gone. We are not going back. They actually charged us 50 cents for the sauce.

Friendly and fast service with daily special @ 30% off. Has healthy and nutritious alternative to regular white rice sushi. The place is cozy and not too busy at this time. Been here before, maybe 3 — 4 times and always doesn’t disappoint us.

Whenever I go to a sushi place, I always order the following: — Tuna Nigiri — Salmon Nigiri(Smoked, if they have any) — Tamago Nigiri — Negitoro Roll I don’t know why, but I just think a good sushi place will have those basic sushi pieces down well. This place is one of them. Maybe it’s the pink rice that they use, but I really like the unique taste of their sushi. It’s sweet, yet enhances the fish flavours…*sigh* I’m drooling all over my keyboard once more. I don’t think I’ve ever had this kind of rice before, but even then, the flavour of the pink rice really makes the sushi experience 10 times better. I’ll be back for those sushi once again!

Me and my frd went to the one beside columbia stn and we had high expectation for this place becuz we saw so many good reviews online but… it turned out very disappointing. When we went in we were taken to a table and given menus to choose what we wamt to eat. We ordered teriyaki chicken and sashimi for starter. At this time no drinks were served. It was not until we were in the middle of eating that they realized they forgot to ask us for water or tea. The teriyaki was well below average, one of the worst. The chicken was over cooked and it was fairly small served with some weird noodles under it. After seeing the quality of the food we decided to go. We will not be back.

I was really disappointed with this place after a friend recommended. Having been to many good value sushi places in Vancouver, this place does not compare. Prices are ok, though there was a bad smell coming from the kitchen area. All the dishes were bland and most did not taste good at all. For those city folks with refined palates definitely avoid this place. The food was definitely a turn off, and average at best.

I have been here a few times as I live across the street. I know my sushi as my best friend is Japanese and we go out for sushi on a regular basis. I have tried a few sushi restaurants in New West and this one is a cut above. Excellent portions, clean food, tasty rolls. A great experience every time. Highly recommended.

There are two Okonomi locations in New West, one in uptown and the other in downtown. The one in uptown looks better and the one downtown is the old comedy club and it pretty outdated. Good thing is both places taste the same. Ki Sushi has been a staple in New Westminster, but Okonomi is a good alternative with their blueberry infused rice. Portions are good sized and it appears to have a somewhat different approach to some sushi favorites. My personal favorites are the Special Spicy Combo and the Korean style Chirashi. Everything is reasonably priced and I have not had any complaints and it ranks next to Ki. My only complaint with the food is their use of cinnamon in their teri and tempura sauce.
