Michael’s Inn

I recently stated at the Travelodge by the falls in Niagara Falls ON. This hotel was formerly micheals inn. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I frequently stay in hotels and can say without a doubt that this one should be closed. My room was dirty, walls and ceiling stained. The lamps in the room did not work nor did the clock radio. The bathroom was extremely cold I had to put towels down on the floor so that we could enter. My daughter was supposed to sleep in a play pen but because it was so cold close to the floor I was forced to sleep with her in order to keep her warm. We had gone swimming at another resort and I placed our bathing suits hanging up in the bathroom to dry. The room was so cold and damp that all of our bathing suits were still soaking wet when we woke up in the morning. This hotel is currently under renovations. In my opinion it should not be open to the public. The current conditions of the hotel are unacceptable. I will never stay at a travelodge hotel again and will share this information with whom ever I can.

This is now a Travelodge. We needed 2 big beds, but the location in Clifton hill only listed 2 twin beds available. This location is good, close enough to Clifton hill, can see the falls from outside the inn. Parking is 15 dollars per day. Hot breakfast was NOT included. I guess it isn’t even offered everyday. It cost $ 10 for adults, drink NOT included. I should have made myself free coffee in my room before checking out. The pool looked good, did not get a chance to try it out. Free wifi did not work inside our room, we had to walk to elevator. The stairwell smelled like chlorine. I am giving it 3 stars because of paid parking and breakfast were surprising to me. maybe I did not read carefully enough on travelogde site. or confused location. overall it’s a good value for the money.

So far so good.
Just got to the hotel today and everything seems wonderful. We can see the falls in the distance. Have a wonderful room connecting to another wonderful room. It’s clean and the balcony is drab but useful since we brought our own wine.
They have wifi for free. Jacuzzi and gym which I’ll try in the morning. Wish we had a fridge but other than that it is all great!
Wish breakfast was included. But there appears to be a restaurant. Fingers crossed it has breakfast!

They charge 10 $ a day parking !!! Geez. They lost our reservation. Tiles missing in the bathroom and bottle cap on the balcony, we added ours. Nice view and slept ok. Really liked visiting Canada eh but will find another hotel to stay at thou…

I stayed here back in early May. The location was good as it was close to the falls. It was walking distance. I didn’t mind the old décor. The price was good.
Everything was pretty good, except for the service. The room I got was extremely hot, and the AC was not working. I went to the front desk for help and the front desk lady said unfortunately that’s how it is, the sun comes in on that side and gets hot, they can’t turn the AC on yet because it’s that time of year where the nights are still really and blah blah blah b.s., no other rooms available, and said to try opening the windows and that she’d bring a fan up. I wasn’t satisfied, went back to room to try to open the windows. The windows wouldn’t open and the heat was just unbearable. No ventilation.
Instead of waiting for the fan I decided to go back down and demand another room. In the end I got another room that was cooler and had working windows, but it wasn’t effortless. The service and attitude from this lady was just horrible. This lady wanting me to not complain and just stay in room with unbearable heat and no ventilation is damn wrong.

Ok, so the hotel is a little dated but the view from our room was pretty awesome all though obstructed. For us it was the perfect distance from Clifton hill and area attractions and super easy to find our way back to because it’s so near rainbow bridge. Bonus: we were so close to the US we could use our cell phones at the hotel. The pool and Jacuzzi were nice. Our room had a jetted tub that was amazinggg. I loved the theme of our room (gone with the wind) and we got an amazing deal through groupon. Overall we had a great time. The only reason I give them 4 stars is that they charge for parking.

It’s a nice room for a nice price. It’s easy to get to and just a short hike to downtown Niagara on the Lake. I highly recommend this.

Very nice, cozy, clean and quiet. You probably won’t find a better deal. Good location, right across from the Falls river. Within walking distance to most places you’d want to visit (under 30 minutes). If you’re planning on visiting the Bird Kingdom it’s just a block away on the same street. Walk just a couple blocks further and you’re at the Falls. Because it’s just a small inn (3 stories), there were no long line-​ups so checking in and out was a breeze. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and sauna and were grateful that they weren’t crowded. Wifi worked great.
The room does look quite dated though — as if it were decorated by your grandmother. But if you’re just looking for a no-​nonsense, inexpensive, comfortable hotel, you can’t go wrong. All in all, this was a definite bargain and we were very happy with our stay.

Stayed here for a few days to see the falls.
On the upside, it’s about as close as you can get to the Rainbow Bridge border crossing — just take the first right and it’s right in front of you. The rooms and the entire hotel felt tired and as if it had seen better days many years ago. The desk clerk (who I believe was the manager on duty covering the clerk) was very brusk and less than friendly when I went back to clarify something shortly after checking in. Also, on the first night I was startled by an intoxicated or drugged couple arguing very loudly, abusively, and profanely about misplacing the key. I know that hotel can’t really screen guest but this on top of the generally shabby state of the rest of the hotel put me off even more. Also, our bathtub appeared to be jammed and was draining really, really slowly.
Overall we were okay with just my girlfriend and myself as we were just there for a few days out of a long road trip but anyone coming to Niagara Falls for a romantic getaway or as a whole family should stay somewhere else.

Conveniently located by the falls and a short walking distance to Clifton Hill, we were quite lucky to have found this hotel for a 2 day stay. Rates drop significantly on Sundays. Last minute is not recommended in booking rooms, but a balcony and Jacuzzi by a pool is perhaps the best options I could hope for.
Facilities are all clean as can be and rooms stocked.
I can appreciate this as a home away from home.

This is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed. I gave them one star because there is no zero available.
The room I stayed has bed bugs and I was bitten all over my shoulder, back and even my face!
When I bring the problem to the receptionist, not only she didn’t want to do anything but also she blamed me for bothering her and insisted it’s my own allergy. I know what bed bugs bites are like. had the same problem in other hotels before. She was just trying to get rid of responsibility. She was extremely rude, yelling, pushing. I’ve never seen this before. totally shocked.
Once they got the money in their pocket, your nightmare starts. The receptionists are like barking dogs when you have a problem and will blame everything on you or let you wait until you give up.
Avoid.

My boyfriend and I traveled to Niagara falls for a quick trip a few days ago and we stayed at Michael’s Inn for the second night of the trip. We booked the jacuzzi room since we thought it would be fun. :P Anyway, the inn’s location was AWESOME. It was walking distance of everything yet not too crowded or crazy. Sadly, we got a room on the first floor, and wasn’t really experiencing any view of sorts.
The room itself was pretty nicely decorated, the jacuzzi itself was HUGE and awesome. The bed was nice, it did look a bit outdated with the seafoam green color scheme. The bathroom was clean, everything else looked pretty nice and updated.
There was a weird door though, and when I opened it, I could clearly see the light from the other side (the room right next to us!). I was a bit worried about that but we ignored it and went on our way to walk to the falls.
We returned to the room and turned on the jacuzzi. It was really nice. Everything worked really well, and aside from the obnoxiously loud fan and green mood lights, it was quite nice. :)
When the fan was turned off, we could hear EVERYTHING going on, from cars on the street, people talking in the hallway, next door guests listening to music, someone playing guitar and singing… etc etc.
The bed turned out to be a huge squeaking mess, so my boyfriend had to be careful not to move so I could fall asleep.
We opted in for the breakfast buffet, which was $ 8.99 per person + drinks (2.50) I would have not ordered any coffee had I known it was that expensive :/​.
The breakfast was good enough, they had some awesome pastries.
All in all, I would stay here again for the awesome location, however would totally request an upper floor room without any guests surrounding our room.
(P.S: You get free wifi but it is a bit spotty).

The decoration is a bit outdated. For less than $ 60 a night, I have no complaints as long as it is clean and safe. The bed is comfortable enough for me to sleep thru the night. Bathroom has soap, shampoo and conditioner. Walking distance to everything. Parking is only $ 10 a night. Free wifi. The night clerk is very polite and helpful. The day clerk is rude. When we picked up our luggage from the front desk, the clerk didn’t help or verify our identity. She just said ‘it’s over there. Go get it yourself.’ That’s fine. You just save me two bucks for tips.

The lobby and dining area were nice with modern carpet as is most hotel/​inns served a good breakfast buffet, a pancakes, French toast, sausage, deal… etc.
my room was just ok, nothing special, had a faint odor of cigarettes even though the floor was a non-​smoking section. They have the old black tube tv’s instead of flat screens and there is no fridge in the room. we had a balcony which we cud partly see the falls if we stood in the very left corner. The first night we went out for several hours. When I returned to my room it had a horrible stench of mold And a portajohn. I alerted the front desk and when she came up she said it smelled like someone was cooking… Cooking what? Butt and pigs feet! She just gave me a fan which I used to blow the smell out of the window/​sliding door which had no screen so bugs could just fly in and out. The smell eventually went away and ended up turning the A/​C down figuring it may have been too cold causing a water leak and the moldy smell. The next night there was no problem.
The shower was nice and clean no mold and the water pressure was very strong and hot. They had a decent sized swimming pool up to 8 feet and a whirlpool and sauna. Unfortunately the pool was closed for an evening due to «sanitization problems» so I’m glad I didn’t go swimming.
All in all the hotel was just ok

checked in and they didn’t even have king beds which is the option we selected and paid for via expedia. Gave us a «queen» bed, but it was more like a princess.
hairs in the bathtub. curtains don’t block any light, and built in alarm clock is the sunrise at 5:50 am.
Filth smeared in the toilet. no hand soap. no shower caps. Band aid in the bed. disgusting establishment. never go back. it is a motel, but they call it a ‘hotel’. yeah right.
the chain lock on the room door doesn’t fit, nor does it connect. In a place like this, I want extra security with the amount of unsavory individuals perusing arounf the property.
REEKS of urine as soon as you get out the elevator on the second floor. Are you kidding me??? This place needs to be raised to the ground!

My girlfriend booked this hotel thinking it was on the NY side. The confirmation email did not make it clear they were in Canada, it only listed ON. We realized this 6 hours before the check-​in, and couldn’t go to Canada as my passaport was expired. We talked to the manager and he would not refund the money, not even a half day rate.
If the confirmation email had the country in the address field we would have caught the mistake in time for a full refund.
We lost a whole day rate because this place failed to provide vital information in the confirmation email.

Outdated.
Inexpensive.
Hot water.
Comfy bed.
Clean.
Accommodating.

The hotel is old and even though they advertise that they’ve recently renovated having done some cosmetics — given the front desk agents new uniform and a very mniscule touch-​up to the lobby — doesn’t suffice. My room had a nasty smell to it, I found a long hair on the bathroom counter, and the windows hadn’t been cleaned.
I stayed during the Olympics and wanted to catch it after doing some siteseeing, but the t.v. hardly functioned. First, all of the channels were just static and then all of a sudden channels just started changing. The light next to the bed didn’t work and none of the plugs near the bed worked either. I couldn’t use my computer where I wanted to, nor could I read before bed. Having traveled this time alone, it was pretty scary. I called the front desk and when the maintenance person showed up, he pressed some buttons on the t.v. and said, «sorry, it’s old.» And when I told him about the light and the plugs he said, «yeah, the buildings old, so none of it works.» And then he just left. Nothing was fixed and I was pretty much sitting in silence and the dark for the rest of the night.
Parking is $ 10, not bad. Niagara Falls is but a short distance walk, maybe less than 10mins. There’s almost nothing in the area, so make sure you get what you need while you’re out. There is a breakfast, but I can’t remember if there’s a fee or not, I didn’t have any of it.
I had an awful experince here, but for the price I guess it’s worth it. Personally, I would never stay here again. I also don’t think there’s much of a reason to visit Niagara Falls more than once.

What can I say about this place that hasnt already been said? Yes, this place is crazy outdated and needs major renovation work. And yes, it does have big metal keys– not even joking about that!
Yes, it over looks the remains of the falls– it offers «river view» rooms and they are just as their name suggests: they overlook the river left of the rainbow bridge. The hotel location is fairly remote from the hoopla of Clifton hills although on a nice summer day you could easily walk over there and enjoy it.
The in room tv is a tube tv and even though free cable is a feature only about 30 channels actually work. The pool on the second floor is perhaps the best feature this place has.
The website makes this place look wonderful and chic– upon arrival I felt betrayed and deceived. To call this place a TWO star inn is a stretch so calling it a THREE STAR HOTEL is blasphemy. Our room floors were not fully vacuumed– EVER! That much lent and dust in corners and around furniture doesn’t appear overnight. Our mirrors were filthy and the tub had mold all over the tiles and a piece if the tub that was patched up had begun falling off and cracking apart. It looked so bad I refused to bathe my baby in there. You get one bar of soup and that’s it. The hair dryer is attached to the wall so you know you’re gonna get a great style from that heat.
Our room has a draft perhaps because our balcony sliding door is broken.
The décor is very outdated and nothing really goes with each other almost like the updates were done small and sporadic — like let’s cover theses stains with this wall paper trim, let’s change the carpet that ripped in this one corner… etc. overall: over priced, dirty, and outdated. I’m kicking myself for not staying at the ramada inn (it was cheaper) and we just drove past it– it actually looked like a HOTEL.
Oh well, now we know!

My parents, husband & I decided to stay here while we were heading home from our visit in NY. This was the 3^rd hotel we stayed in on our trip so I had plenty to compare.
Location: Awesome. It’s not in the middle of the touristy chaos, which is great. It’s within walking distance to the falls, and an okay view. It’s also within walking distance to the touristy chaos.
The Hotel: It’s old. It’s outdated. It looks kinda shitty from the outside, and the gated parking lot is sort of a joke. All of that aside, it’s clean and well-​maintained. The pool & exercise room exceeded my expectations in this old hotel, that’s for sure. The elevators are updated though. Clearly, the only thing updated! Please check out the photos of the theme room… outdated & bordering pornographic! haha
The room: I can’t tell you the last time I was given a room key that was actually a KEY. It was very clean! I appreciated the old style furniture. The bathroom was also very clean, and had the old teal tile from the 50’s/60’s. It was in perfect shape though! I loved that along with the hairdryer mounted on the wall, there was also a 2-​sided makeup mirror with lights next to it. No issues with hot water either.
The bed was comfortable. We had 2 doubles, which was kind of small, but just fine. They had a good selection of cable channels too. I had no issues with the wi-​fi. The A/​C was a little noisy, but it goes along with the age of the hotel, and nothing new to us. I’ve yet to experience a quiet A/​C unit in a hotel room!
The restaurant: We stopped in the restaurant in the a.m. for breakfast. I opted for the buffet, again. Typical offerings with french toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and potatoes. They also had baked beans. That made me scratch my head. I’ve never seen baked beans served at breakfast. The food was okay & exactly what I would expect from a breakfast buffet. Our waiter was awesome. He was engaging, attentive, and really funny! He said he’d been working there for 16 years.
Check out was fast and easy. Overall, we really enjoyed our brief, overnight stay. The husband and I definitely want to go back to the Falls & spend more time there. We will definitely stay at Michael’s Inn!
