Niagara Square may not be doing so well but the staff at Tanjay are awesome. Very helpful. Great little store. The Manger Tammy is very friendly and helps you find clothes that look good on you.

This mall is very nearly dead. There are some shops on the outside, most of which don’t connect to the mall interior, and a very nice movie theatre in the parking lot, but ~75% of the stores inside are closed. The only bright spot is the Humane Society Cat Adoption Centre, and the Mandarin buffet on the outside.

So sad. This place is not bad looking inside but very few stores open. What’s with all the closed up shops? I have been here before on past trips to Niagara and this is by far the worst yet. Every open shop had a sale on, going into them yuck what junk! Overpriced even with a sale! I found one thing in the entire mall I liked — a glass sun catcher for a window $ 119.99! That’s outrageous as I can pick up something similar for $ 18! The food court is dismal. One mall worker looked at us like«what are you here for, this place is closing» — which makes me think is the mall inside stores going under for a horrible call center to move in? I hope that’s not the future for the square. Yummy Mandarin is here and some other large stores that are rather boring. Mandarin and the Cineplex is the highlight here.

I actually feel sorry for the owners of this mall and have no idea how they have managed to keep this mall open. It has been a dismal place to visit for years now mainly because of the number of empty stores that hit you in the face while walking around. It becomes the #1 topic of conversation when you visit as you can not help but wonder why you are there in the first place. A return visit would be out of the question based on what you are seeing and many other options are now available with the opening of the new MEGAOUTLETMALL and huge Wal Mart 5 minutes away.

Walking in this mall last night, I counted more stores closed than open. Even the larger stores that the mall would bend over backwards to keep open have moved out. The mall looks very out dated and dingy. Being a resident of Niagara since birth, this mall looks exactly the same to me from when I was a small kid. Larger attractions like Futureshop, Mandarin, and JYSK have opted to not have entry to their stores from the mall, so that cuts down on pass through traffic. I would expect to see this mall paved over and turned into a parking lot in the next decade.

Despite revitalization efforts including large renovations, additions including a Future Shop, Brick, and a Mandarin, as well as smaller plazas located in the parking lot, traction just hasn’t picked up for this poor mall. It seems most consumers will go to the Winners or the Future Shop, and then leave without bothering with the other stores. It is a difficult situation that is further exasperated with the Walmart that has opened up on the other side of the highway. It seems like that whole area is growing and expanding, but unfortunately the stores within the mall are not benefiting. It is like a ghost town.

If you woke up from a 6 month coma, walked into the Niagara Square Shopping Centre and thought you woke up to a zombie apocalypse then I wouldn’t blame you. This isn’t the smallest mall I’ve been to and it’s not the dingiest but when a quarter to a third of your stores have left then it’s time to come up with a way to revive this place! I mean it’s bare in terms of stores and in terms of people coming here. Besides the 2 phone stores in the mall, a smallish Winners and Peoples Jeweler there really isn’t anything else in this mall that isn’t tacky or a ghetto version of a chain store. I say save yourself the 30 second stroll through here and the gas and keep driving!
