I visited this winery recently for a bachelorette party. Due to unforeseen circumstances we were a little late to our tour reservation and by the time we got there the tour had already left. Fortunately, the staff were quick to arrange a private tour & tasting for us! It was such a wonderful experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions and provided great insight. The pairings were delicious and we all wanted more of the sparkling wine and ice wine cocktail! Thank you for helping to make a memorable event for the bride to be! Everyone I dealt with in arranging the experience was wonderful and accommodating and it was the perfect ending to a perfect day. We will certainly be back. Jocelyn

I visited trius winery several times during wine trail events for the last 3 years. I didn’t like the facts that there were lots of tour buses coming and going. The regular tasting room experience was not that great. Every time we went in, we did not feel the young tasting staff knew what they were doing. During our most recent visit, not many people were in tasting room because of the lousy weather. Still I wasn’t very satisfied with wine tasting experience on main tasting room. We had to wait for a while to taste some wine even though there were only one couple in entire tasting bar. He was explaining all his knowledge about wine to the other couple while he was just pouring wines in our glasses and walked away. I felt that was very very unfriendly. Yes. Whatever. Fortunately we were able to discover ‘the loft’. It is $ 10 per tasting but I thought that will be worth a try. Two tasting room staffs were there. They had all of reserve wines open for tasting. It was really worth experiencing all the better wines they had to offer. We ended up buying a half case of some of their reserve wines. If you are a serious wine drinker and know what you are tasting, you must check out«the loft». You will love the wines. You will taste one of the best red and white wines on their reserve list. Service was excellent. We seriously thought about joining their wine club. I wish they improve on their main tasting room experience.

My wife and I were celebrating a few quite days from our young children and stopped by this restaurant for lunch. The ambiance was fantastic. It felt a little regal and we settled in right away. My wife ordered the charcuterie board(Trius Hero Plate) and I ordered the servers HIGHLY recommended fish’n chips. Both were good, but neither were outstanding or memorable. The prices did not reflect the taste. We did agree that the presentation of the plates were very beautiful, but not enough to garner it 4 or 5 stars. For dessert, we shared a baked apple and pear pie. Once again it was average for an upscale restaurant. I’ve had lunch at a few Niagara wineries, and unfortunately, Trius was underwhelming.

I went to this winery with my friends. I give them 4 stars for the great vineyard and wine of course. Food is not very great here. I heard their menu keeps changing so may be we chose a wrong day go there. We ordered fish and chips, platter and something in lamb which were all okay. They serve complimentary wine infused butter with bread which was just awesome. I purchased few wine from the shop and here goes the description about all the wines that I tasted. White wine — Amazing. Smooth and Reasonable Red wine — Okay. Reasonable. Ice wine — Different. Too sweet like honey. Expensive. Trius winery is worth trying once.

I spent the day here. I tried 12 different wines, I joined the Trius Club, and the highlight was The Loft. Thank you to Sally and Kevin. What a treat!

Oh wow!!! Truis is absolutely AMAZING! Over the past 4 months, I have been here twice — once for brunch and for dinner. The food is unbelievable, fresh and locally sourced. I would recommend getting the wine pairing with your meal. They do such a great job in matching the food to the wine. The service is impeccable. They are attentive without being in your face. If you are in the area or planning a visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake, make sure Truis is on your list of places to eat at!

I absolutely LOVE this winery. I really enjoy going to wineries to the point that I’m almost addicted. The tour was amazingly narrated by our tour guide who showed us the tradition of opening the wine bottle with a sabre! It was very interesting and he was very fun. I’ve been to MANY Toronto/Canada wine tours and not many stand out. But Trius is one that definetely does and I’ll be sure to visit again very soon.

Beautiful winery! I was recently here for a girls weekend, and this was such a beautiful place. We had Bob as our tour guide through the facility. Not only was he knowledgable about all of the wines, the grounds, and process, he also was able to manage 15 women so that’s impressive! He was such a sweet person, funny, was not stuffy at all which I was assuming I would encounter at wine tours. He started off the tour with chopping the neck off of a bottle of champagne and toasting our bride to be, then we went up to a looking deck and he explained the process of grape growing, grafting different plants together to acclimate to the cold weather, he showed us the machinery that harvest the grapes as well. He then took us down into the cask room where he explained how they make the barrels, and the temperature settings to ensure the wines safety. He brought us to a room where they had floor to ceiling bottles of champagne stacked!!! He explained the process of bottling it, how the machine works to cork, foil and label as well. If you’re interested in a wine tour I would recommend Trius out of the 5 other wineries I went to this weekend, and I would also highly recommend asking for Bob! Thank you Bob for making a memory for my future sister in law!

Did the trius black glass dinner here this past Saturday. There was a group of us as we were celebrating a number of birthdays. The staff was well organized and we had a small lesson before dinner then we were brought down to the downstairs cellar for dinner The first course was the corn soup with smoked salmon. This was my fav. 2nd course with peaches and prosciutto and cheese. Nice and tasty 3rd course was the rib eye. It was really small but cooked okay 4th course was pumpkin cheesecake. Tasted more like pumpkin mousse and mine was a bit bitter. Throughout dinner. We got wine pairings for each of the courses. They were generous with the portion sizes of the wine but overall we all left dinner hungry and went to a diner for something a bit more filling after Considering how dinner was $ 100 with four full glasses of wine presents a decent value but you might need to go to McDonald’s afterwards for few nuggets

Came here for a tasting. They were very busy on a Friday afternoon. It took us a while before we were helped but considering their busy-ness that was understandable. The tastings were $ 7 per 3 glasses of wine. It’s just a tasting so they weren’t generous with the pours. We tried a Riesling, chardonnay, late Vidal, Cabernet, and 2 ice wines. If you buy a bottle they were willing to credit the tasting. I didn’t feel the employees shared much about the wines unless you asked.

Disclosure: Came here on a corporate outing, so I didn’t pay for anything which may affect my rating. First of all, from the outside parking lot, the winery doesn’t look like much, but the grounds are much more expansive once you get in. Property includes a restaurant, with a couple of private dining rooms, a lookout point, a wine press room, a HUGE storage room, and of course, a store, selling their products. I’m not sure if it depends on how much you pay for the wine tasting, but the red & white testing wines were not good, imho. Gracious tour guide told our group to first smell the wine and that it shouldn’t smell like vinegar — and either one or both of them smelled this way to me. Too acidic, not complex enough, and just«too young”/not ready. In general, this is the way I feel about most Ontario wines. Grounds are very pretty, well manicured. White Ice Wine that we tasted was too sweet for my liking and the consistency was thick like syrup. I did really like the fragrant notes, but again, too sweet for my palate. Afterwards, I did speak to the guide, told her I liked the flavour of the ice wine — but not the sweetness — and she suggested their«Late Harvest Vidal». I was able to taste before I purchased which was good, unlike the LCBO! This particular white is sweet, same flavour notes as the Ice Wine, not available at the LCBO, and ~$ 25 for a bottle. I was quite happy with my purchase! All in all, I think I would’ve been more impressed with the winery had the tasting wines been better.

Great food. Great scenery. Worth the splurge After a hard day of touring some Niagara wineries, we stopped at Trius for lunch. The restaurant itself is quite stunning, lots of natural light(the restaurant overlooks the vineyard), high backed upholstered chairs, natural wood floors, high ceilings. In a word: classy The menu is small, 4 appetizers, 4 mains and 4 desserts, which is good since it probably ensures that everything is fresh and cooked to order. Had a grilled chicken panini with pea meal bacon which was really nicely done. Good crunch on the bread, the chicken was moist and the bacon was done to perfection(0vercooked peameal should be a crime). My wife had the gourmet fish and chips(fresh fish in a crispy batter and duck fat fries… outstanding). The menu has suggested wine pairings, but the waiters are happy to recommend other styles. The menu teams are a bit pricey($ 20 for a panini) but the ingredients are top notch. My only complaint with the menu is the lack of any salads. Service was friendly and super attentive Over, I Would highly recommend

I was on a wine tour for this visit. Trius was our first stop. We arrived early which gave us time to explore their large gift shop and tasting bar. We explored the beautiful property with a delightful guide and were served Trius Vidal ice wine and beef chili. The wine was very sweet; I would only have 1 glass in a sitting. Being new to icewine, she went over the process and talked about the history of the vineyard. She told us about the restaurant and the fireplace-heated lookouts. It was a cold day, so the heat was welcome! I can see how this place would be absolutely stunning in the summer.

Came here in early January in a group of 4 with the Peller Wine Country Touring passes(sold for $ 20 online, also associated with 30 Bench and Wine Country Vinters). We had a very unenthusiastic female tour guide, but we still enjoyed the tour. You get to see a lot of the wine making machines and apparatuses and explore a larger portion of the cellars than you do at any other winery. After the tour, they have(included) a structured tasting of a white wine, a red wine, and an ice wine. The white wine and red wine were fairly average, and the Vidal ice wine was my least favorite that I think I’ve ever tried(and I’ve enjoyed many ice wines, from Inniskillin and Jackson Triggs to various ice wines from Austria and Germany). It had a strange metallic taste that was rather off putting. I was a little disappointed by the tasting, although my friends enjoy the structure of it and the tips that she had for how to taste and judge a wine as well as what to do for wine pairings. Inside at the tasting bar, we saw that for $ 7 you could taste any three wines on their menu. This seemed like a fantastic deal for the ice wines, so tried a sparkling wine, a Riesling ice wine, and a Cabernet franc ice wine. The Riesling ice wine ended up being my favorite of the three, and it was actually ultimately my favorite wine of all the wineries, so we came back that night at the end of our day of touring to buy a bottle for ourselves. If you buy wine after a tasting, the cost of the tasting covers some of the wine bottle(e.g. we saved $ 7 on our bottle of wine OR you can see it as the tasting being free and the wine bottle having no discount).

We spent a day touring Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries, and Trius was by far my favorite one! We received vouchers from our hotel for deals and various wineries, including Trius. When we showed the cashier our voucher, she said it was for a free tour and tasting. A tour started in 15 minutes, so we walked around the gorgeous grounds until it was time. Note: Without the voucher, I think the tour would have been $ 10/person. The grounds are really pretty with a restaurant, a big palazzo area, and covered seating under vines and globe lights. And that was just where you could walk around without being part of a tour. We were there during their busy harvesting season, so things were in full swing. It was neat to see the production happening while we were there. Our tour guide was great. She knew a lot about winemaking, the wine industry, and of course, Trius itself. She had no problems answering questions from the group throughout the tour. We were able to see the bottling and storage of their sparkling wines, I had no idea the pressure inside those bottles was so high, and we were repeatedly warned not to touch the bottles(which were extremely cold), for fear of one shattering. My favorite part of the tour is when we went int the cellar room where the wine was aging. It is an absolutely charming underground room with big iron chandeliers and a long, wooden farmtable that is surrounded by the wine barrels. Out guide said they use the room for fancy dinners, including wedding rehearsal dinners, and they put lanterns lit by candles on the tabletop. We tasted 3 wines — a white, a red, and an ice atop a patio area with an outdoor fireplace. All the wines were good. The tour ends in the wine/gift shop, of course, but there was no pressure to buy. Our guide told us to let her know if we had questions and then hung back. We ended up buying a bottle of white to take home with us. We also bought a used stave that was made into a tealight holder, and it’s on our dining room table now. I had a great time and would recommend you take a tour at Trius immediately.

My least favorite winery on our wine hopping experience in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Very corporate and sales pitchy feeling. The server was short and straight to the point, she took on another group in the middle of our tasting. We were literally in and out in a matter of ten minutes. The tasting bar is in the middle of the store. The store layout is much like a Macy’s tables of wine divided into departments of wine. The wines were ok nothing stuck out nor were they presented well. We weren’t fans, we didn’t stick around. There is a restaurant in front of the wine store, that could have been something but the atmosphere and wines didn’t wow us, so we left. It seems that this is the place for wine club people to hang out and catch up while us out of town folks get paid no mind. Pass.
