I came here since I had one more coupon left from my string of coupons that I got in the mail(the only time I came to a McD’s is when I have coupons). I used the buy one get one free of the hot drinks or smoothie coupon. I didn’t order anything complicated just two smoothies: one mango and the other very berry. It wasn’t rocket science therefore nothing to screw up. Customer service was okay. It was actually pretty dead when I went inside. So why the 3 and not 4? It was a simple order and they did nothing extraordinary other than put in a scan code for the coupon and ring me up.

My mother was looking for the promotional free coffee, and we were in Park Royal, I just wanted to leave the mall and head towards home, then this one came up along the way. It’s a real odd one, as while you are driving along Marine Drive right before you see this place it says to turn right… along an alley and then you hit the parking lot, but it is a far drive, I passed this entrance and decided to take the right turn at Pemberton Avenue. Passing the restaurant you approach the parking lot which also serves as the runway to their drive-thru, and it can get busy in here if your parking fighting through the people who just do not want to get out of their cars to order food. The building shares two restaurants when you come in from the parking lot, Sushi Town and McDonalds, as I enter I realize they have done a full renovation to the place. Walking up to the main checkout, gone are the old manual menu boards, replaced with ever changing flat screen tv’s sending subliminal messaging of stuff that looks way better than what you may get. We ordered two coffee’s, small fries and a snack wrap, the trainee mistakenly charged the coffee, that’s ok. she’s new and we got our money back in no time. There are a ton of seats in this location, from regular booth, to table seating. We chose one right near the sugar machine, I mean the pop machine, gone are the days of someone serving you up, you get a cup you get as much as you want, and I saw this one kid keep going up for round 3 of the over-sugaring… he has a long day ahead of him. I can say with this McD’s everything came out right, the fries were very lightly salted and crispy, none of that soggy grainy stuff that you wonder«how dare you serve me this!» and the wrap my mother had was made to order and not falling apart(I have seen some messy work from other places). A lot of light coming from all the windows, and a place that on a Saturday, I can see, is a hangout, even with somebody bringing his laptop to do work, as there is free wifi! The parking lot is the only real complaint, but if you need your fast food fix, and you are around here… it’s not bad.

Let me start by saying I served a 3 year deployment in the McDonalds army in high school. I have a good idea what it takes at one of these places and this one aint cuttin’ the mustard #pun My wife and I try not to eat crap like this often but shit happens(a lot) and I can say from the amount of burgers I eat that this is the worst McDonalds(or McCafe *rolleyes) I have come across in the lower mainland. a few years ago this location shut down for renovations and when it reopened all hell broke loose. the first 6 months my orders we often missing the meat in the burger or they had the meat but nothing else inside and on and on this went. a few months later they seemed to get over their shitty training period and onto making regularly-grade shitty food but that’s when the service shortcomings of this location started to manifest. they charge for EVERYTHING but ketchup, a few of the staff are decently pleasant but there are a handful(mainly the crew-chiefs and swing managers) that a just indifferent to customers if not worse. that’s not even the worst of it. what really prompted me to actually write a review of a McDonalds was that this morning at 6am they REFUSED to make me a decaf until 7am. excuse me? this place is so cheap i can only assume this is a franchise location. in closing: the main entrance to this location is located across the drive through lane, nice and safe. it shares its building with a sushi restaurant and its mama is soo fat the back her neck looks like a pack of hot-dogs.
