Finch Subway Station

Here be Dragons! … The end of the line. Living in TO for 5 years I’ve been to Finch a number of times but never really strolled around the area. A lot of it feels like Suburbia but with some ethnic pockets to make it a little less cookie cutter.
The station itself is pretty awful. It seems like a big schlep to get from subway to the buses and the whole place is GREY. If you live in Toronto in the winter, the last thing you want is grey décor.

The main perks of this station are the small shops, the tim Hortons and the washroom but those aren’t too special. The design bother me given the distance between the trains and bus bay

An old lady with white hair who is a staff member of this station was extremely rude!!! I was trying to ask the way to the bus terminal but she yelled at me as reply !! Want to complain her so bad!

As a Terminal Station you think they would make this station the be all and end all of the TTC’s mighty mighty stations. Parking is available all around the station which used to be free… but now you have to pay $ 5 via change or credit card. Please do not be one those people who forget this and then the people behind you have to back up their cars and let you out and you will end up doing the drive of shame. #firstworldproblems
If you want too, you can park underground at the Xerox building for $ 20 a day and your car can be warm and comfy. In the station itself, it has 2 Timmys stores, some flower shops, and conveniece stores.
You will always get a seat when you are leaving from this station which is always a big bonus. Shops and restaurants are connected to the station if you are hungry for booster juice, Sollys, Pumpernickles etc.

Are they ever planning on using any funds from the latest fare increases to clean up the DISGUSTING washrooms?! Wow for the what they gouge us for we get inconsistent, quality customer service and gross washrooms. Smarten up TTC.

That’s it. End of the line, buddy. I like living near the Finch station. You’re always guaranteed a seat. I feel sorry for those suckers who bought condos down at Eglinton. Ever since they plonked vast numbers of condos in the Sheppard-​Finch corridor, you guys probably don’t get jack for seats during rush hour. We’re better than you! We win!
This station always seems to be under construction or in a state of repair. They board up doors, escalators, stair ways. No work seems to be done on it for about 8 months. Then there’s a flurry of activity and it gets repaired, reno’d in about a week’s time. If I was mayor, I would really fire EVERYONE who works at the TTC and replace them with people who prefer to keep their heads out of their asses.
There are a number of Tim Hortons kiosks, which means there’s Tim Hortons litter («tim turds») all through the station, outside the station, and on the trains and buses. Give a hoot, toss your paper cup anywhere. I think Dora the Explorer has been teaching the new generation that. Or something.

I think this major hub should look much better than it does right now. It’s generally dimly lit & old looking. Thank goodness the washrooms have been renovated. They are not pristine but a major improvement from before. There’s an escalator by the washrooms & soon as you go up them you used to be able to smell the most vile smell in the world. But that’s gone now. There’s a florist, a BMO atm, Tim Horton’s & a small clothing shop here as well. This place could look amazing if they renovated the whole thing.

TTC Stations are TTC Stations right? Sure… Finch station is one of the nicer ones though. It offers several entrances and exits through and from the adjacent buildings as well the attached Viva and GO bus stations. The station offers 2 large parking lots, 2 Tim Horton’s and a partridge in a pear tree… I jest…

Why am I reviewing subway stations…
Finch is my most frequented station, since 99% of the routes I take in York Region end up here. I also use this lot as it’s the biggest and most convenient to find a parking space.
The station itself is okay, nothing special comparing to other stations. However you do get the odd creepers outside the fare-​paid zone (one of them is an Asian lady who bugged me about eating in the bus terminal, which by the way is perfectly legal here). There’s also the odd musician in the station, and they generally play decent music.
Warning about the bus terminal: It’s a mess during rush hours. Four of the routes from this terminal operate no more than every 3 minutes during rush hours, so you can imagine the intensity of buses coming in and out.

I have to review this Subway Station for one reason only…
The washrooms here used to be so disgusting, that I’ve had to leave the station to do my business and then had to re-​enter (thank god for GTA Weekly Passes!)
But more recently, they’ve completely renovated the washrooms here, and I must say, its been a few months, and it’s still clean (ish).
You used to be able to smell the bathrooms from the Lotto Dealer (which is quite far)
But now, you can easily use the washroom and not fear any STI’s or other nasty diseases!
Way to go TTC! Next, please renovate the Bloor-​Yonge washroom!

As the terminal station, you would expect the TTC to make some improvements to it. Well, the washrooms at this station are always filthy with toilet paper strewn all over the floor and you can imagine what it smells like.
Two perks: there are two Tim hortons in this station which I come to regularly before heading off for work. The lines are always long but their service is speedy and so the wait time isn’t that terrible.
The temperature also feels ten degrees hotter in the station than the outside (not that great for the summer).
