I grew up going to school in Parrsboro. It’s a tiny Nova Scotia town, only 1300 people. Yet it’s set up a great live theatre venue in the Ship’s Company, the envy of cities many times larger. The Kipawo was a ferry that, in decades past, went across the Bay of Fundy with Parrsboro one of the terminals. 25 years ago they turned the beached ferry into a theatre. It’s done so well that they’ve now built a much large building around it. It’s a massive tourist attraction for the area. Check the web page for all the summer shows they do, typically local or otherwise Canadian productions. The theatre only holds 100 – 200 people and it makes for an intimate show. I’ve seen two productions here, both good and both intimate-feeling. It’s a superb cultural addition to the town, and a must-see if you’re in this area of Nova Scotia.
