We are a group of professional musicians that provide a jazz ensemble which can be customized to suit the specific needs of your event. The musical instruments, dress code, number of musicians and the schedule the group will follow is tailored to your event. We work with you in a responsive manner to get everything organized the way you need it with minimal work required on your end. We are experienced professionals who are accountable to The American/​Canadian Federation of Musicians.

«capitalJAZZ» is available to provide subtle jazz for almost any type of event. When you invite the group to provide music for your special day you can expect to experience fun swing, serene bossa nova’s, relaxed funk and gentle ballads. Our goal is to help provide a classy atmosphere, and as such, the music remains subtle and does not over power your event. The group can perform in many different configurations depending on your preferences and your booking can be customized to fit your specific needs and budget.

Historique

Fondé en 2011.

As a full time professional musician, band leader Mike McNeil performs at over 110 events and recording sessions per year with many different musical groups in a wide variety of musical styles. «capitalJAZZ» (formerly named «The Mike McNeil Group») specifically has been working for the last 2 to 3 years. Band Leader Mike McNeil is a full time musician who has toured Canada and The U.S.A. as a professional musician, worked as a cruise ship show band musician and performed at hundreds of public and private events in the Ottawa/​Gatineau region with many different bands in a multitude of musical styles. Mike has a bachelors degree in music from Carleton University.

Touring Canada and The U.S.A as a professional musician

Performing at Ottawa Blues Fest 2009 on the Main Stage (Bank of America Stage)

Performing at Ottawa Blues Fest 2013 and 2014

Performing as part of the Ottawa International Jazz Festival twice in 2008, once in 2009 and once in 2010

Performing drums on many artists recordings (including 3 albums and 2 singles that can be found on iTunes)

A request to perform on a short tour in China (though cancelled)
