Historique
Fondé en 1996.
D’Arcy McGee was an Irish Nationalist and a father of the Canadian Confederation. He became the minister of agriculture, immigration, and statistics in the Conservative Government in 1863. A few years later he was elected to the 1st Canadian Parliament in 1867 as a liberal-conservative in Montréal. On April 7, 1868; while walking down Sparks St. after a parliamentary debate here in Ottawa, D’Arcy McGee was assassinated and shot dead by Patrick J Whelan.
In order to honour D’Arcy McGee’s memory and the history that happened on Sparks St, an Irish Pub opened up on Sparks St and was named D’Arcy McGee’s.
