I somehow make it to this Dollarama at least once every week or two. I guess I didn’t realize how often I visit this store, but for your every day goods, odds, and ends, it’s a great place to start. It’s in a great location on Elgin, especially for all of the nearby employees at City Hall, Place Bell, and the kids from Lisgar Collegiate. I have found kitchen supplies, office supplies, gift bags, whatever. I’ve bought decorations for my work party in the past, and it’s an quick and easy go-to when you needs those extra napkins and utensils when they run out. Today I found Caramilk and Crunchie chocolate fondue sets for 3 bucks a pop. Isn’t that nuts?! Couldn’t believe it myself. But my favorite purchase has to be a small bottle of Frank’s RedHot for only a dollar twenty-five, which I use allll the time. Like most other stores, it gears up for each holiday and really pulls out all the stops. It currently has an entire section dedicated to Valentine’s Day related items, just as it did for Christmas. Cards, decorations, glasses, heart-shaped bowls, lollipops, cookies, and chocolate. You name it. FYI — No return policy. Prices are cheap, generally $ 1 – 3, but still inspect your items before purchasing, and make sure you’re buying exactly what you need. Good ban for your buck, and a decent selection. If you can’t find what you’re looking for here, there’s also a nearby two-floored Dollar It! on Bank Street. 7⁄30 #30DaysOfYelp

I was originally completely against a chain dollar store going into this vacant space. I thought this could have made a great small grocery store(similar to another Bousheys-type-store or express grocery place) but now I find myself running there often for things like cleaning supplies and kitchen items. This part of the downtown lacks a hardware store(there’s one in the Market and one in the Glebe) so picking up items you’d find at a store like that is a bit hard if you live in the Elgin area and don’t own a vehicle. Dollarama fills that void. The prices — well they’re max $ 3 so you can’t really go wrong. The lineup though tends to often be long and weave it’s way through the store.
