Holy heck. I came here a while back and forgot to review it, despite the fact the food here is SUPERB. I came here again tonight and I’m so glad I did. This place is no longer on Somerset(I’ll update the address), its tucked away on Wilbrod Street in Sandy Hill and its easy to miss, but please go out of your way to this awesome little place! You’ll thank me for it. The atmosphere here is so warm and inviting. I felt like I was a welcomed guest in someone’s home. They have big comfy booths, a bar, and some TVs with sports playing. A very friendly man gave me a menu and stuck around to explain it to me, and answered any questions I had. Tonight I ordered the veggie peanut and tomato stew, but previously I had the chicken, so I’ll review both. Not ordering the chicken was hard. I’ve gone vegetarian, and I’ve not had any issues with meat cravings but this was the first time it crossed my mind. The chicken is amazing… But thankfully, the peanut tomato soup had pieces of green banana and this amazing tomato peanut sauce. I put it over rice and liked it. They gave me hot sauce on the side, and let me tell you it is a) hot and b) delicious. My favorite hot sauce is only purchasable in BC/Alberta and I miss it terribly, but this stuff is easily as good if not better. It was a while ago that I had the chicken but I remember it being amazingly flavorful and charcoaly. They give you a side of rice and a beef stew to pour over it. Amazing food here. Friendly staff too, they will answer whatever questions you have and go the extra mile to make sure you’re satisfied.

Great to have something new — and tasty! in Ottawa. We had two plates — beef brochettes with cooked green bananas, and roast chicken and fries. Both were very tasty. The hot sauce offered is extremely spicy so try with care. It’s family run. Service was attentive.(Owners care!) We’d called ahead to order.(Tip — Call in advance!) Pay at the counter. There is a menu on their Facebook page. Surroundings are unfancy but the food is good. Of course if you get take out this isn’t an issue. Compare: Ottawa staple Greek on Wheels is $ 13 for one skewer, rice, half a potato, and salad. Kasa offers two beef brochettes, two bananas, salad for $ 12. I’d say the Greek is somewhat more complete as meal(Mainly because I like my carbs) but Kasa wins on taste and novelty for sure. And you get to meet some nice people. Can’t gauge the authenticity but given the number of whom I could only guess were Rwandans having a great time it can’t be too far off. Lots of space for groups. Bring some friends. tl:dr — Definitely worth checking out.

Really wonderful food and great staff. Interesting and delicious, the portions were large and filling. Really unique and flavourful spices on the grilled meat. Food that you won’t easily get in Ottawa — will definitely come back. Great addition to the Somerset strip. Lots of care is put into making the food, and I hope this place does well. Really, really wonderful place that deserves a lot of praise.

Another great addition to the Chinatown area. Owned and operated by Rwandan-Canadians, this restaraunt features tradtional Rwandan food such as grilled chicken and beef, goat, plantain, and greens. On the day we went, there was no goat available, but really enjoyed the other menu items. Staff were very eager to please and offered us tastings of various items before we ordered. Not super quick as the meat is grilled to order. I look forward to returning!
