I used to live in the high-rise apartment building above the clinic and I found it extremely convenient to have one right downstairs. They take walk-ins, appointments, and even house calls. It’s located right on the corner of Rideau and Chapel, but it can be easy to miss since its address is on Rideau but the apartment’s address is on Chapel. I was a student at Carleton at the time, and I could have gone to the medical centre on campus. All I had to do was take the #7 bus straight there, but I was feeling the winter cold and the laziness that comes along with it, so I thought of just trying out this walk-in clinic, which was right downstairs. Like every other clinic, they ask you to fill out a contact info and medical history form if you’ve never been there before. I secured my spot on the waiting list and filled out the form while I was waiting. The wait didn’t seem too long, as the place was practically empty. Little did I know that I’d be waiting over 2 hours just to be seen! I have no idea what would’ve even taken so long, since I didn’t see very many people leave the clinic. When it was finally my turn, I waited for what seemed like ages in the room. When the doctor came in, he didn’t even close the door until I asked for more privacy. I explained to him what was ailing me, but instead of asking how I’m feeling or if anything hurts, he was very short, very rude, did not seem to care whatsoever about why I was there, and obviously wanted to get me out of there as fast as possible. If I had known beforehand the time it would take to be seen, and the response and service I would receive, I would’ve just bared the cold and trekked it to Carleton.
