As someone who thinks of himself as a taco kinda guy, I was intrigued when I saw the sandwich board at Bank/Nepean promoting TacoLot. It’s hidden on Nepean(west of Bank). There is seating inside, but I went in to grab a «3 for $ 10» taco pack to go. The service was good and I was the only one there, so I knew that everything would be prepared fresh. I wanted a crispy fish taco, but they had run out of fish, so I went with pulled park, beef and chicken tacos. The one thing I noticed was that the soft taco shell was heavier/doughier than I’ve had at other local taco spots(El Camino). It changes the gastro experience because you don’t get to savour all the flavours of the«good stuff» inside because the shell is taking up more space than needed. Overall, fresh, hot, tasty downtown tacos on the fly. You can’t ask for better at $ 10. They also have burritos and quesadillas on the menu. Please note that the Nepean location is closed on the weekend. That’s not crystal clear on their sandwich board. Plan ahead and don’t be taco disappointed on Saturday or Sunday. Lots of bicycle and street parking.

This is my second time here. I came in April or so. I ordered two pulled pork tacos and was disappointed. It wasn’t seasoned like other pulled pork that I’ve had. It was mostly roasted with a dry rub. Some parts of the meat were pink and a couple bites had a mouthful of fat. My husband had the beef and said it was just okay. Both were juicy but my husband and I agreed the tacos lacked the zest and flavour if onion, cilantro and lime usually present in other tacos. Tonight they were also out of crispy fish, which was my first choice. Total bill for 4 tacos came to $ 14. We brought our own beverages. The server/cook gave us a deal, which was nice. Service was good: it was prepared quickly. There was no seating outside, except for two chairs widely spaced gracing the doorway. A picnic table would have been perfect. Instead if sitting in the blasting air-conditioning we opted for a bench not far on the sidewalk. It is what it is: a quick, relatively healthy dinner, and a chance to still savour the taste of summer.
