Amazing food for an amazing price! Great wonton soup! Delicious tea too. Dinner for four is 50 bucks and comes with enough food for lunch the next day

Delicious dim sum with English and Chinese on the menu! Love the salt and peppered fried shrimp, egg tart, beef briskets, sticky rice, and many more I cannot remember. The prices can add up so only mark one per item(it’s not like sushi menu). The left has less in on the dish and the right has more on the dish as a note too! Give it a try. It can be quite busy here. There are rushes and can be a lot of waiting.

I had been to this restaurant once before half one hour before they closed and they shooed us out and was very angry that we came in that late. When we finally did try this place out the service had a strange atmosphere of what looks like a military run restaurant. Is not worth the food. The young boys working here look so frightened and no one is happy. I just can’t get past this! The younger staff were quite helpful. I felt so sorry for the workers. The food was decent I didn’t order anything extravagant prices were reasonable. It seems the food is authentic and the restaurant is attracting mostly Chinese-Canadians. They don’t have service at this restaurant they just feed you and send you on your way.

We moved from Vancouver to Port Coquitlam last year and to go from ample delicious Chinese food restaurants to here was difficult for us. We found that Rainbow Butterfly was the best and we tried quite a few before coming here. It’s still not what you can get in Vancouver but it hits the spot when we want Chinese food. Service is sometimes better than your average Chinese food restaurant(usually you get terrible service but we are used to that!). Dim Sum is good as are their dinner dishes!

Was enjoying lunch with my 2 daughters when everything went downhill because of such RUDE and AGGRESSIVE service from, I believe was, the owner. Amongst other food I ordered«Szechuan Style Spicy Green Beans»(exactly as seen on the menu) and it arrived with pork, which I do not eat. When I brought this to his attention, he got all upset and went on to lecture me that«next time I should inform the server» because I should have known that all«Chinese food always has pork». I was… «are you serious?» Instead of attempting to resolve the situation he was upset with me and totally ruined my lunch. He must have gotten out from the wrong side of the bed

Really great fresh food all the time. We are regulars here for the dim sum. I lived in San Francisco for 20 yes and came to know and love good dim sum. This place is very Chinese, some of the staff speak very little English and are very busy but the food is hot and fresh. The menu is slip of paper with all the possibilities on it, you check your choices and the dishes arrive at your table. If you’re new to dim sum there’s no pictures, take a guide along. We love the usual har gow and Shu mai, add some rice rolls with shrimp, spicy green beans, and the sticky rice with sausage and you’re started. Add 1 or 2 new or different items and you’re set for a fine lunch.

Had dimsum today(Sunday lunch) and it was great. Was about a ten minute wait get in and was seated in booth. We did not experience any of the bad service that others were talking about. The food was excellent, a little bit more pricey than other places I’ve been to, but it was hot and yummy. We had 9 plates and the bill came to $ 45.00…$ 50 with tip. Would defiantly be back next time we are in the area. Dont expect 5 star service but the food was excellent.

Always good service everyone myself or my family comes. Be prepared for lineups on the weekends, but it honestly is worth it. Best dimsum in tri cities!!! Decent prices as well!!! Make sure to get the har gow and sui Mai, deep fried garlic shrimp rolls, and the sticky rice! 3 huge pieces for $ 3.25!!!

Ordered takeout on the recommendation of a friend. Probably the worst chinese food our family has tasted. Restaurant was busy, and there were a few orders before ours to pick up, so I was hopeful. Chicken from all the dishes was tasteless. Rice was way overcooked borderline mushy. Chow mein noodles were very light in colour and overboiled texture. All in all the dishes lacked any zest. I’ve made all these dishes at home and my kids said mine was by far better. They could only stomach the honey garlic pork and that was ’cause they were really hungry. I enjoyed the Chicken wrap the most with the fresh lettuce and hoisin sauce. Our Order: Veg& Chicken Chow Mein Beef & Black bean chow mein Chicken Fried Rice Veg. & Chicken Wrap Honey Garlic Pork The best chinese I’ve found so far is at the Central City food court, Surrey. Manchu Wok, will keep looking for a more local one.

With the sad passing of Kirin, rainbow butterfly is now the best dimsum the tri-cities have to offer. Order with the triplicate form from the comfort of your own seat, leave the ear plugs at home and enjoy an acceptable table density and clean bathrooms by dimsum standards. Good on you rainbow butterfly. There’s even a drive-thru starbs across the parking lot for your food coma avoidance needs.

I would have give it 4 stars because of the food! They have many options and tapioca pudding which is the best: D my favourite! I don’t eat meat so it was nice they had many seafood dishes i could eat for dim sum! I went there twice so far and both times on a sunday were super busy! The service was pretty slow and a real negative was that when I payed the man at the front he just took the machine from me and didn’t look or say anything… kinda rude, couldn’t I get a thank you or even acknowledgement?! So I regretted tipping…

Consistency in the food quality and taste is not there — I live a block away from this place that is why I kept coming back. The owner(apparently his name is Ray Leung) sits in the front desk and he is a very rude man, rude to customers, rude to employees. This is very well documented in several reviews about this place and this owner. He got angry at me because I found his soup too spicy and he wanted no accountability on it, he made a scene in front of his customers that were trying to enjoy their lunch, then called a cook and started raising his voice at him while speaking Chinese and pointing at me, this is not China, this is Canada and your customers deserve respect… POCO is a friendly community full of nice little restaurants that want and appreciate my business, so I am done with this place.

It’s been a while since I came to Rainbow Butterfly so it was nice to come back to food that is decent dimsum in the Tri-City area. Most of us living 20km+ East of Richmond will find good dimsum a rarity. There is always the overpriced Kirin but Rainbow Butterfly is actually comparable, if not better in their fried/deep fried dishes. They know their dimsum and their food is always served hot and fresh from the kitchen. It’s one of those Chinese eateries that you don’t necessarily rave about to friends but it’s the type you go often with family and friends on lazy Saturday mornings.

When it comes to dim sum in the Tri-Cities area there aren’t too many choices. Rainbow Butterfly is one of the better options. The dishes are pretty fresh and authentic. If you come here you’ve got to have the baked tapioca pudding. You won’t regret it.(unless you hate tapioca)

Anyone who enjoys dim sum and has known the pleasure of the gustatory orgy that was the Pink Pearl — may it rest in peace — can imagine the crushing ennui of moving to the valley. They will understand the stirring of hope and the flush of excitement on spotting the«dim sum» sign, and the soul-destroying disappointment of enduring the offal presented in its place. Mission is a wasteland; Abbotsford has nothing worthy of the name; Maple Ridge is a tundra of shame and loathing. The valley is utterly bereft of decent dim sum and you will be doomed to suffer the meaninglessness of existence unrequited until you discover the Rainbow Butterfly in Port Coquitlam, the sole beacon of culinary authenticity in an unremarkable sea of bakgwei psuedo-Chinese slophouses. Food at the Butterfly is ordered off the menu, with the exception of a few pastries and desserts. This is not a bad thing, however, as the food is reliably fresh and hot. The serving staff are somewhat gruff, but hey, they’re also run off their feet. The managers and owner are very pleasant. The ambience is a curious hybrid of old-school Chinese restaurant and an ABC Country Restaurant. Ignore the bizarre décor, this is the best food you’re going to find outside of Richmond. If you need some tips for the menu, excellent options include the chicken feet in black bean sauce, the shrimp dumplings, the sui mai, the leaf-wrapped rice, the dumplings in chili sauce, the salt and pepper fried tofu, the shrimp toast, the pan fried barbecue pork buns and the gai lan.

Went for dim-sum and got there early. Staff were very pleasant and tried to chat, but the place got really busy. Dim-sum is ordered, not the off-the-cart method, but was all very good. Is it as good as you can find in Vancouver or Richmond? Maybe, maybe not. Is certainly the best I’ve tried with 10 km of Port Coquitlam.

This place has delicious Chinese food, especially being in Port Coquitlam where there’s really no other choice. Their dim sum are fresh with lots of choices, the place is always packed. We went to dinner another night and we ordered various dishes which included soup, rice and dessert. We had some veggie dishes, delicious honey spare ribs, chicken and more. The soup was so good, it was the typical Chinese style soup but made with real ingredients. The dishes was perfect as well, we went quite late, so it was about 30 minutes before they closed, and they were still very patient and the food was made up to standard without being sloppy or over cooked. If you’re ever in PoCo and wanted some good Chinese food, go to this place!!!
