Today I took part in a Terry Fox Run to Rise Money for Cancer Research. The run/walk I took part was in Pacific Spirit Park at edge of UBC, It was sponsored by a UBC student group, likely a sorority and fraternity. After filling out a basic sign up sign up sheet. I made my donation. You have a choice 5k or 10k run/walk. At the end you get a modest certificate and ribbon saying that you took part. The good news here is almost all the money you gave or collected in donations goes to cancer research. Here are some of my past words about Terry Fox Handbook: He was the Hero that Canada always needed. He was also the hero that Canada lost way too quickly. As I held this book in my hand and looked at his wonderful 1970’s snapshots and cringed at the page with his personal handwriting. Since Terry Fox has already won a place in the hearts of Canada maybe the world should know more about the story of the young man who used every cell in his body to fight the disease that was cut his life way too shot. His Foundation and my feet keep his memory alive today.
