Thrifty Foods

Tried to return dog food. They made me wait for 20 minutes (just after suffering a concussion); just so they could go in the back to watch camera footage to see if I had stolen it first. I even had a receipt.

I like the selection of organic and gluten free products, even though sometimes it can be a little bit expensive but when I called customer service to ask a question a question the woman was a bit rude and trying to cut me off even when I wasn’t even done asking my question by saying bye to me more than once to get me off the phone. When they first opened I remember the associates there were really friendly, and even a year ago, the person at customer service was accommodating when I wanted to add my points to my card but not a few days ago when I had called so it’s a bit disappointing.

Normally I’m pretty impressed with most Thrifty Foods, but not this time. The power was out so we picked up some roaster potatoes and greek salad from the deli, and a cooked barbeque chicken.
Got home, bit into the roaster potatoes… they were frozen… yuck! The greek salad also looked and tasted like it was sitting in its juices for days. If I make a greek salad at home it would take days before it would appear like this salad. I’m not interested in frozen or days old food, whatever happened to fresh! Also when asking if they’re asagio chicken had wheat on it, they couldn’t find any information on the ingredients. Very disappointed!

Although this is probably the closest grocery store to where I live, I don’t come to Thrifty’s to do my regular grocery shopping. Recently I had to pick up a can of tomatoes and so I stopped by for the first time since moving to the area. I was impressed by the layout and look of the store. It definitely has a more high end atmosphere than most grocery stores which I was surprised by. They had a decent seafood section and deli/​sandwich area with take-​out items which is something I’ll keep in mind. It’s funny that it’s called Thrifty’s when it’s not so much the case, but it’s convenient for me when I’m in a pinch.

Thrifty foods always seem to have beautiful looking stores that are very organized. My review is for the fire stone pizza. It is delicious, the only thing is that it takes a while if they are busy as they only have one person making the pizzas. You can call in an order for lunch or whenever. They also sell by the slice. Watch your tongue if you get it as it comes out of the oven, it is extremely hot from the stone! You’ll be drooling though as you wait for it to cool down lol.

This is my favourite local grocery store. While the prices are definitely higher than the Buy-​Low and Superstore a few KMs down the road, I find they have the best selection of high quality produce, a good variety of meats and grocery products, a lovely deli and the most helpful and courteous staff of anywhere I shop. The store is clean, well lit and accessible and (unlike so many other stores these days) still have a floral department.
I am always willing to pay more for great quality and service, and on that level Thrifty in Suter Brook certainly delivers.

Love this location and the layout of this store. Even compared to some of the other Thrifty’s stores near by. They have a great glutten free selection, dairy free variety as well and everything is very easy to find. The store is not overly big but I can always seem to find everything I need in here.
The cashiers are very friendly and helpful. They remember you the next time you go in. Probably had one of the nicest today, a bubbly tall blonde with short hair name was A*l*n).
They have this one section to make your trail mix, probably my favorite thing in the store by far — made one with Cornuts, apricots, smarties, banana chips, seeds, granola and cranberries.

Grocery shopping paradise!!!
I love Thrifty foods, especially this location. It’s clean, organized, all stuff is always so friendly and always willing to help. I love the bakery, and deli… I love everything about this place. Enough said!

This is my favourite grocery store — their meat is especially good. Most of their prices are very competitive as well.

Pizzelle, Pizzelle… oh, how I have missed you my tasty Pizzelle. These delicious Italian waffle style Vanilla flavored cookies are the best. (
) In Ontario I could get them from the corner store. But here, I have only been able to find them at Thrifty’s. This is the first Thrifty’s I have been to on the mainland and there is one major difference. The counter help. The bakery and deli seemed incredibly slow and disorganized. I even had to ask the customer standing next to me how long the store had been open, or maybe it was just training day. Whatever the case, I got all my favorite Thrifty’s items and headed up to the cash. Karen L. was very friendly and we made a little bit of chit chat as she rang in my items but at a fast pace. Did not have to wait in line either that is always a treat! And so are these cookies, I hope I do not eat them all tonight!

A trip on the west coast express ending at port moody brings me to vacation mode at Thrifty Foods. My best favorite grocer in the world. Well, my lower mainland world anyway. Thrifty always reminds me of trips to Victoria back in the day.
Clean, friendly service with a smile and very good selection, Thrifty Foods I wish you replaced any one of my local grocers. (not naming names)

I really like this store. Pleasant staff, especially the young guy at the cash register that said I looked 32 years old. Nice to hear when you’re pushing 40

I am a fan of Thrifty Foods! Unlike many people, I live to grocery shop. You can find me in a grocery store at least five times a weeks, as I often cook very fresh, and my ideas come to me as the day progresses. The staff in this Thrifty Foods is amazing, and always helpful. The layout is clean, and welcoming and it’s always a pleasure to go there. Great organic and local foods. If you haven’t gone, I highly recommend as it is by far my favourite grocery store ever!

I’m biased, I love having a grocery store across the street. This Thrifty is new and not too thrifty, perfect for neighbourhood shopping. Very clean and all the deli items are always fresh. Lots of parking underground and easy to get around the store. Customer service has been excellent and happy to see they have clean public toilets — tip, get your blood pressure checked on the way out for free.

Thrifty Foods is my favorite too as other reviewers. I like that the store is not super big, which is just a great maze and take so long to get in and out. I have better things to do than that!
Good selection of products, good layouts and displays as well. Like the point system that can convert to Aeroplan. Like the «bonus point» promotion, like the «buy one-​get one free» promotion as well. Good service from staff always. They welcome you to talk directly to the butchers, sushi makers, cake makers, and deli attendants if wanting to get something you want.
I don’t feel like I am «hunting» for food when I go shopping at this store. It is more like going to your own community’s market to get the local food you want.
A ‘thumb-​up’
1. to their receipts… they try to keep them short and use both sides! A store that really cares about the environment.
2. to their reusable bags policy… you are encouraged to bring the reusable bags to the store. You actually get a few cent discount for using them!

Always love the shopping experience at Thrifty in PoMo. The staff are very helpful, I never had a cranky one thus far. They have a good selection of organic and non organic items, small packages of meats available along with pretty much all essential items. One stop shopping experience !

This location has been open for just over a year, and everytime I go I’m always amazed at the selections. The cheese vault is fantastic! There’s a sushi bar, basic deli counter, and a fresh/​hot sandwich & pizza bar in addition to the grocery selection you’d find in any store. Staff are always very helpful and willing to help out if you’re feeling lost. walking through the bakery is torture since they offer petite desserts now.*sigh*
