Four Points by Sheraton Vancouver Airport

Admitting the challenges of addressing the needs of my 92 years old mother in a wheelchair, we stayed at this hotel for four days after being in China for 2+ weeks.
Hotel is located on Restaurant Row (restaurants aplenty — including a McDonald, though after midnight only cars will be served.)
A few blocks away — one can find a SuperStore (Canadian version of Walmart), skytrain station (this makes one a short ride to the Oakridge and YVR area), shopping mall (with a yoga studio) and other delights)
The first few shifts of hotel management tried their best to meet our needs for towels and information.

When my relatives came to pick us at during a rainy night (we were there in the first week of December), the hotel staff member (whose name is ERIC) was rude and unprofessional when they came to pick us up. With plenty of parking spaces and sharing that they were picking up somebody in a wheelchair (we were in the lobby easily visible from the parking lot), ERIC told my relatives to move without providing the courtesy and common sense that maybe they were picking up somebody. ERIC then proceeded to «ask» them to park one aisle away then complained that they were blocking others that just park adjacent to my relatives’ minivan.
ERIC then «explained» that he didn’t hear them (odd since I heard them from the lobby) but that doesn’t provide him the excuse of professionalism (especially when it is rainy) to ask the driver of any vehicle the purpose of stopping next to the lobby door (duh). When my relatives and myself went to share our disappointment (knowing that he would not get reprimanded hence only asking for a dialogue and/​or our concerns recognized while expressing their desire to investigate the situation). My relatives and I were told separately and together that a member (manager) would contact us regarding our concerns — never done.
Subsequent hotel management in the immediately following shifts were oddly cold.
The last hotel shifts were more accommodating and met our needs.
This hotel is seemingly good if one doesn’t have any special needs. If one does have a special need and/​or circumstances stemming from rainy weather — hotel guests beware (your presence might not be met or acknowledge).

We pulled into the Sheraton after midnight, but the desk was still open and promptly checked us in! We headed up and immediately crashed. When we woke up, I really got to take in the room. The view is nothing to speak about, but the room itself has a gorgeous bathroom and the décor is very modern. This would be one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in and I would come back for sure.

The top 3 reasons to stay here are: Location. Location. Location.
Location #1: You are in Asian food heaven. Within walking distance are numerous (literally numerous) top-​notch Asian food restaurants (especially Chinese food). After all, this is the Chinese food capital on the West Coast of North America (I know the SGV is getting better, but it’s still at least a notch below Vancouver/​Richmond.)
Location #2: You have pretty much everything that you need within walking distance. The Lansdowne mall is a 5 — 10 minute walk away which hosts a wide variety of stores. The most important one for most is probably a liquor store… YAY! (And the hotel room has a fridge, so you can’t beat that!) Steps away from the liquor store is a 24-​hour Asian Café — Number 9 Restaurant (see separate review). And for those who crave a McMuffin for breakfast, there’s a McDonalds near the hotel. (Who wants McDonalds in Richmond? Go across the street to Jade for morning dim sum. Or to Sun Sui Wah.)
Location #3: You are just a short walk away from the Sky Train (Vancouver’s version of a subway) that takes you to the River Rock Casino, the Richmond Night Market, Aberdeen Center (the largest Asian mall in North America) as well as Vancouver. You can actually take the Sky Train to the airport too but the hotel offers free shuttle so it’s easier especially if you have lots of luggage.
The room is awesome with a very comfortable king bed and a large work desk. The bathroom is very spacious for a hotel in this price range. I particularly like the oversize shower compartment. The staff has been friendly, welcoming and efficient.
Will be back for sure and highly recommend!

Great hotel in a good location. The location is around many restaurants and Chinese stores basically its a small Chinatown in area. The shuttle bus cokes every 30 mins and they cone right on time and leave fast so if you miss it you gotta wait the next half hour. the shuttles service was friendly and drove just hotel and airport back. The hotel itself is nice reason missing a star is because no pool, not enough gym equipment, no free breakfast, no free parking. The hotel right next to them has all these great amenities LA Quinta. The check in was easy and fast the elevator has a security card tap so be sure to know this. The room was spacious featuring two double beds and very comfy. Would come back again because I booked a special rate but if not I would just go next door.

We stayed at this Four Points for 4 nights during our recent Vancouver trip. Overall, the hotel is fine. The recent remodel gave it a fresh new look and the bed is comfortable. Like other reviewers said, wifi is a bit flakey at times. I would be in the middle of something and all of the sudden, get kicked out. I was also surprised at the daily parking charge. I was expecting parking fee for hotels in downtown Vancouver, maybe I am naïve. It just didn’t seen like a hotel that should be charging for parking. At least it wasn’t really expensive. The location is great if you like Chinese food as there are tons of great restaurants nearby. So overall, I’d still stay here if the rate is right. It’s an «A-​OK» hotel for me.

I made my reservation a month prior to check in and here they are kicking me out of my room because it’s not ready yet. I don’t even need to see any other service.

Overall we were pretty happy with our stay here. It’s got plenty of restaurants nearby as soon as you walk out of the parking lot. The rooms are not only newly renovated, but they’re really clean. I chose this location over other SPG hotels for that reason, plus with a young family, I wanted to avoid the hectic hustle and bustle of downtown.
Checkin was seamless and friendly. We were also able to get into our room a little earlier than the check in time.
There was a slight issue with the beddings, and when we called the front desk to have them changed, someone from housekeeping was expeditious in coming up to our room. The one thing I noticed was that the front desk agent didn’t apologize for the inconvenience or the issue. Ok fine.
The only other two minor issues I had were that the blow dryer wasn’t returned to it’s storage and that the hair wasn’t cleaned up off the floor when the room was serviced.
But the remodel, free wifi and parking kept me happy. I’d stay here again.

The location to the hotel is pretty odd. It is tucked in and away from the main street, hidden behind a lot restaurants.
When we arrived, one of the desk clerk was busy assisting a guest, and I believe the manager was busy doing something else. They both looked at us, and didn’t acknowledge that there were guest in front of them. A nice hello, or we’ll be with you in a few minutes, would of made a nice and warm hello. I should know, I’ve been in the hotel industry for 14 years now.
Anywho, got into our room, and our room was AMAZING! Right when you walk in, to your right is the closet and coffee maker. Kind of odd to have a coffee maker hidden away in the closet. The bathroom is too die for! Love the large soaking tub and the roomy stand up shower. The bed was so comfy! After our long journey from Seattle to Richmond, our room made up for everything.
The staff was very accommodating. Even though we left a mess and asked for so many requests, the staff still kept their cool with a smile on their face. Fiona, thank you for being the Rockstar that you are! Also, I tried to tip our housekeeper, and she refused to take my money. She stated, that she’ll get in trouble. Well, at this point, I didn’t care, I shoved her tip in her smock :)
(Note: you should always tip your housekeepers. They have 28 minutes to flip your room around, so your stay can be restful. Plus, they deserve it)
Other than not being acknowledge upon check in, our stay was amazing. We will definitely be back, and hopefully we get our same room next time.

Mehhhhhhhhh.
Compared to the La Quinta down the road, this place is meh. Actually, compared to all other Starwood Four Points properties, this location does not impress me at all. Although I am a Starwood member, I usually stay at the La Qunita down the road because of (1) price (2) cleanliness (3) quality of complimentary breakfast. Since La Quinta was booked out, I used my Starwood points to stay at the Four Points.
Pros:
— Parking was no issue — the lot is big enough to accommodate all the guests.
— Conveniently located in the center of all the food and entertainment of Richmond
Cons:
— If you’re ever in the mood to eavesdrop on your neighbor’s conversations, this is the perfect hotel. The walls are paper thin. The overall appearance of the hotel room is also just old and dated. Did not feel clean at all.
— Breakfast… yes…it was free and you could totally tell. I don’t know if you could call 80% of what they called «food», so I stayed with the yogurt, fruit, and oatmeal.

3.5 Stars.
Alright, so I got catered to by the hotel for 10 days for my place of Employment’s job fair. We were served breakfast, snacks, lunch, and snacks. Some days were really, really good, and other days not so much.
A lot of days we were served junk food for breakfast. One morning in particular was donuts and bread. NO JOKE. We were all like «uh?». The next day they made up for it with eggs, bacon, sausage, hasbrowns.
Dinners were always different. Always vegetarian friendly.
The snacks and baked goods were amazing though. The cookies were something I genuinely looked forward to as of 2pm.
The hotel was kept clean and the staff were friendly. Even with the crazy amount of staff and candidates coming in, they continued to keep up a good attitude.

I’ve stayed here twice on separate occasions using SPG points. Most recently we stayed here prior to leaving for an Alaskan cruise leaving from Canada Place in Vancouver.
They offer convenient hotel shuttle service from YVR to the hotel. Runs every 30 minutes during business hours. Else just call the hotel upon your arrival at the airport for pickup.
SPG members get free WiFi. Same access code for multiple devices.
The shuttle doesn’t go to the cruise port. But they will refer you to a van shuttle that will. Allow an hour to arrive as the van does make other hotel pickups.
Four Points is located in the heart of hundreds of Asian restaurants spread out over various strip malls. We ate to our hearts content morning, noon, and night.
The sky train station is an easy walk if you are inclined to use public transportation as the seven of us did.

I’m a bit ambivalent here. Part of me feels bad for giving 3 stars and part of me wants desperately to give it 2 stars. So by the law of averages that would make 3 the appropriate score, yes?
Business trip to Canada sees me staying here. Yay! After a long drive up to Richmond from Seattle I come to check into the hotel to discover our company’s travel agent booked the wrong days. ‘No problem’ I’m told by the nice young lady working the desk. She alters my reservations and says to have our agent contact them the next day to confirm the payments will transfer properly. Great! Oh, but you have to pay $ 30 for parking. Are you serious right now?! I have to pay to park my own car at the hotel I’m staying at? What’s the square root of Pi divided by paying for parking at a hotel? If you’re not good at math the answer is RIDICULOUS. See; you learned something today. By this time it’s late, I’m tired and I need to cram food type items into my face or I may try eating the hedges.
I drop my stuff off in my room and notice it’s your typical hotel room. It’s clean, it doesn’t smell and there are plenty of pillows and towels. The elevators run between floors quickly but do require your room card to initiate travel. My room card had a slight issue getting me into my room at one point but giving the door a few seconds to figure out its life solved that issue.
So… the most infuriating thing about this trip (I know you’re thinking that infuriating may be an exaggeration but trust me… it’s not.) would be the WIFI. I’ve got my cell phone locked down to avoid nutso international data fees and will need to use WIFI for my cell and laptop so I can still get work done since it’s a work trip and I’m missing work to be there. The WIFI requires a password which is normal… but getting the network to let you use the WIFI is a whole different story. All of the people there for this seminar that I talked with had the same issues. Getting connected could take 3 seconds or it could not happen for an hour. Want to work on that order for a client and get some emails off? Maybe or maybe not. We all had numerous times where we would be right in the middle of something and the WIFI would boot us off and not let us back in… work gone; thanks for that. The WIFI was so frustrating by the third day I started borrowing iPhones and a Galaxy or two from Canadians I had met only days before so I could use their data connections to do some work. How does that make any sense?!
For their customer service and general hotel type bits I would probably give 3.5−4 stars but for their inability to properly support business needs (which I’m guessing is most of their clientele) I’d give them 1.5−2 stars. I would look elsewhere if you need a hotel that will cater to your business needs.

We stayed here during a weekend trip to Vancouver.
Conveniently located on the ‘Food Street’, this hotel is just heaven for Asian food lovers like me. Right across the street, there are tea lounges, numerous ramen, sushi and yakitori restaurants, Chinese hotpot, Mongolian and Korean BBQ, and Vietnamnese restaurant. The selection is dazzling and they are all delicious! But it doesn’t end here, this region known as the Golden Village is known to have the best Asian food outside of Asia. The hotel is also nearby to the Aberdeen shopping center and Yaohan market (Chinese and Japanese groceries) with access to the Richmond summer night market (more food!) and the Skytrain station which brings you right into Vancouver downtown.
The hotel rooms itself are modern, spacious, clean, pleasing to the eye and very quiet at night. The hospitality is incredible, we were greeted with all smiles and when we had to trouble the front desk to ask for directions and places to eat many times and we were always served with patience, they were informative and the recommendations are just spot on. Wonderful hotel!

One of my favourite public places to hit when in a washrooom emergency, though not as discrete as others i’ve mentioned, but they sure have a heckuva selection of guest newspapers!
Wall Street, Globe and Mail, Province and the Sun, and believe they sell Sing Tao too, but I can’t read anyways so never noticed.
Plus a nice sitting area in the centre, w/​the restaurant/​bar on the left when you enter. The tough part is walking by the front desk on your right, and it’s quite obvious if you’re going to the washroom, where you hang a right lol.
Impark does control the paid lot here but if you park in the quick 15min. check in spots, you’ll be fine, as long as you’re not in the washroom for an extended time lol.

Great hotel for a budget traveler. I redeemed SPG points (3−4k per night) and was pleasantly upgraded to a corner room on the top floor, which had a corner tub in addition to a regular (separate) shower.
4 computers in the «business center» — just an extension of the hotel lobby — proved to be useful as I didn’t bring a laptop on my recent trip.
Location is great, with lots of restaurants around. Walking distance to the rail system (but I wouldn’t do it if I had luggage with me).
If I’d have to compare it to another hotel … I’d say it’s on par with the Holiday Inn. Nice comfortable accommodations, but not much else.

I was desperately hunting for a hotel this weekend and was lucky to find this one.
It’s a nice, big hotel in Richmond. The place is relatively new and everything was clean and nicely decorated. The staff friendly.
Some great things about this place is that they have reasonable rates and discounts. The hotel is also on Alexandra road soooo every possible great restaurant is within walking distance. There is free high speed internet. The hotel also has its own restaurant, but the food was just okay. One drawback is that they charge an addtional $ 10 a day to park your car in their parking lot.

Ok. so this stay was a product of
on the day of arrival, so the price that I paid was substantially below the «rack» rate for weekday travel.
The property is well maintainted. much better than many other Four Points that I have stayed in. Checkin was effortless, very professional, and welcoming. The room was average size, very nicely decorated. The bathroom was HUGE and the beds very, very comfortable. The only drawback is that my window, when opened picked up exhaust from the restaurant (which smelled like bacon being fried) at 11pm.
The only negative that I can think of is all of the multicolored lights covering everything outside (in the parkade)… sorta like a Tivoli Gardens reject.
The surrounding area is VERY, VERY Asian, so you have numerous restaurants and shopping literally within walking distance (even during a wet Vancouver winter)

Very nice staff, made amazing suggestions as to a place to eat.
Had a room upgrade when we arrived. For a quick over night it was a good place to stay.

Stayed here for one night in between our cruises.
Located in the heart of the Asian district… man I haven’t seen so many Asian folks in my life and I live in SF!!!
Eating and shopping was EVERYWHERE!
It seemed most guest were Asian on our visit — which is fine with me (no freakin noisy ass Bok Guey)
Room was nice with two comfortable beds… what the heck do people do with 14 pillows?!? (that’s how many we had in our room!)
Bathroom was spacous
Internet connection was great
Cost for the room and all the taxes was $ 120 US.
I would recommend this hotel!

Richmond hotels don’t get too much better than this — especially if you’re on a budget. My previous stays here were fantastic. My beds were extremely comfy and the customer service was great. The last two times I had stayed here the room rate was roughly $ 67 CAD a night, which is a steal these days. Being that its so close to the airport and decent enough not to look like a hooker laden motel joint, I vote this place a solid place to stay for visitors to the great city of Richmond.
Also, they have a shuttle that runs from the hotel virtually every hour and the schedules are at the front desk upon check in. Try and get the rooms closer to the lobby, they’re not near the elevator or as noisy as the second floors.
