Go Bananas

I guess this location just dropped the weekday pricing that made it such an affordable place to visit during the week. Now its weekend pricing every day. Also see my photo of the strange food prices and price gouging. Is this the ‘new management’ people are talking about? Please go back to the old pricing during the week and we’ll start visiting again!

Apparently this place is under new ownership or management so thank goodness for that. At first glance it looks much better than I remember it from years ago. The place looks like it’s been somewhat renovated and they have this air ball popper which the kids loved.
They have free wifi to keep parents entertained and a nice sitting area where you can eat or just watch your kids.
The kids have a blast.. but what kid wouldn’t, being able to run around in an indoor playground.
I had to sit with my toddler in the under 3 area and just looking at the floor was disgusting. The thick balls of dust in between each section of the play areas already suggested that it’s not cleaned regularly.
The bathrooms are gross. Seriously so nasty. The hallway leading to the bathroom already smells of urine. I walked into the bathroom and the first thing you see are old gross faucets. The toilets were dirty and had a nasty pinkish brown ring in the bowl and obviously have not been cleaned in several weeks… all 3 of them. The backs of the toilets where the hinges were had crusted over urine and stuff behind them. I wanted to puke. When I went to wash my hands the drains had pink rings all around them and the faucets themselves had a thick layer of brownish pink mold. And to boot… no paper towel. I would never let my kids use these bathrooms. I’d rather them pee in their pull ups than let them sit on those toilets. This is supposed to be a kids establishment. If the bathrooms are this gross, with kids using them, they obviously migrate to the play area afterwards which I’m sure is not cleaned daily.
Someone needs to bring a black light to this place. The health inspector should definitely make a surprise visit.
Places like this should be cleaned throughly every single day. The amount of kids that come through this place on a daily basis just screams sesspool of germs! If I had a choice I would never bring my kids here. Unfortunately we were here for a bday party. The only thing that I can say was positive was that the kids had fun. Even the girl at the front desk, looked like she was so thrilled to be there. Not even a hello or could even crack a smile. Just said, «shoes off, socks on and sign your kids in»
This place needs to be hosed down.. As do my kids after visiting this place.

Go Bananas is a place for kids to spend their energy while parents can catch up on their emails and messages. (free Wifi)
We were here for a birthday party and all the rooms are located upstairs. There’s a total of 3 rooms and while they are small, they did their job. Everyone mingled and was fed while overlooking the huge jungle gym behind huge windows.
The staff aren’t very proactive and we had to ask for things a few times such as directions and napkins. It may be due to inexperience or just overwhelmed by the amount of kids in there.
My daughter only stayed in the small «under 3» baby area near the right hand side so I can’t comment on the rest of the jungle gym. The baby area had a few toys that needed replacing and maybe a good wipe down every few hours. Just keep in mind to wash your kid’s hands thoroughly when you’re done and you should be fine.
In the end, all the adults were able to relax and the kids had fun so it’s a win-​win situation for everyone.

one of the unrecommended reviews of this place is from my sister (EC) the mom of my nephew, who got hand, foot, and mouth disease after a trip to ‘go bananas’ Richmond. she now has hand, foot, and mouth disease. not sure why her review is not recommended, but I assure you, she is real, her review is real, and she has had to stay home a week from work (as a nurse) because she has hand, foot, and mouth disease. it also means that we haven’t seen her since before Christmas, because my nephew got hfmd, his younger sister got it from him, and now my sister has it. it’s highly contagious, so she’s isolated herself from the rest of the family.
just letting you know that her ‘not recommended’ review is definitely legitimate. she’s covered in itchy red spots, as were my nephew and niece.

2^nd time my child has been here… and both times got really ill after. Thought it was coincidence the first time. This time, definitely picked up a virus from here. Developed Hand-​foot-​mouth disease 4 days after being here…(was not around any other kids after playing here). Without a doubt, picked up HFMD from here. Save your kids… don’t go here!!!
Needs disinfecting… big time!!!

I go there one in a while with my kids and they always have a good time. No complaints.

Hate this place! Ok. my review is based more on a bday party experience…
So my niece had her bday party here. It’s a play gym. Kids loved the gym. But here is what I didn’t like…
1. They have 3 party areas upstairs. But, if you’re unlucky, you end up with either the 1^st or 2^nd party area and have people tromping past your party to get to their area. There just isn’t enough space! Plus people are wandering over asking. «is this the party for so and so…» because Go Bananas doesn’t even have a sign up that says «so and so’s bday». Very irritating.
2. My sister had the food that you can order from them. Very basic, hot dog, juice box and little gummy fruit snacks. The girl brought up the tray and plunked it on the table. didn’t say anything to anyone. I sort of wondered, do we go ahead and pass out the food? Do we wait for her?
3. They left the gate open! And what’s the point of signing your kids in for the bday party if nobody monitors the possibility for kids leaving?
4. Some women’s kid peed in the play area. When my sister went over to tell the girls, they seemed a little stunned at what to do.
Am I just being a picky mom? Uh… no! I’ve been to a ton of these kiddie parties. this has got to be one of the worse. Maybe they were having an off day as I’ve heard people raving about this place but for me. based on the space alone was enough to drive me bonkers.
Otherwise, the gym itself looks fun. My kids enjoyed it. I would definitely take them just for the drop ins to play (probably weekday) but I will say nay to ever having my kid’s party here.

Loud, big, and FUN for a four year old. He absolutely loved this place, There were so much different things to climb on, climb up, slide down and jump off. I just wish they were open a bit later (they closed at 5:30 on the Sunday we were there) — we would have stayed longer.

I believe this place needs a bit of cleaning up. Price wise, very affordable and very legit. But very dirty. As a person with younger siblings, I would not want to be in a very dusty and dirty playarea. It’s a secure place, but very hot also, while you have kids running around.

I have a love-​hate relationship with this place.
Imagine a two-​storey high warehouse space filled with brightly coloured climbing frames, netting, slides, ladders and crash mats. Now imagine that same space full of under-​9s full of birthday cake. Now, imagine all of that happening continuously from 9am to 5pm without any roof-​level ventilation to let the excitement escape or the oxygen back in.
As a kid, it’s the most fun you can have indoors without a Playstation. As a parent, I love that it wears out my children. As a parent whose child just had a birthday, I particularly love that we could host 14 children at a party without actually having to think about how to entertain them for two hours. But as an adult, it’s a horrible place to have to spend more than about 2 minutes.
