Diana’s Seafood Delight

We have shopped here for twenty years. If you want fresh product, you will find it here. This is the only location that sells crayfish. Crayfish gumbo or etouffe as a meal is excellent. This is one of the few places that you can find zipperback mussels. The variety of mollusks is impressive. You can find clams, oysters and mussels. The scallops are delicious.

Love their seafood market, great prices and (mostly) friendly staff. I did notice a decline in oyster selection (by the bulk) and the quality of malpeque did drop (their shells are more fragile now). Nonetheless, they’re great for all your seafood needs and they have uni to boot!
Be sure to come early prior to any holiday/​events as they do sell out quickly. You can always call in advance to inquire about their stock. I just wished they had fresh crawlfish!

Love to come here for there fresh oysters, mussels and occasional uni.
At times I would run into the oyster connoisseur and get tips on purchases.
If you’re thinking of picking up a case of oysters for special occasions, make sure you go early, cause often they sell out on the good stuff like the creamy Kusshi, or the good sized Fanny Bay’s. The mussels are meaty and fresh, often I would be able to catch a good deal… pricier than other places, but worth it!

Just threw out 80% of mussels purchased at Diana’s. They had opened before we could cook them Never seen that before. Very disappointed

My go to place for oyster partyies or just random nights where my husband and I decide we would like to consume 5 dozen oysters over a weekend. We usually buy the oysters by 5 dozen and it’s always been very fresh. The staff are willing to help you determine the perfect oyster even letting you try it. Sea urchin is also very fresh here. Never had a bad experience at Diana seafood. Fresh and very reasonably priced

Second time dine in here. About time to give an review. Dinner for two tonite. Each of us has two dozens of oysters. Fresh and delicious. 12 kinds from BC to USA to choose from. That’s why we each were having 2 dozens. We finished with a trio of fish platter. Fried cod, pan seared orange roughy and grilled sword fish. Perfect seasoning. Delicious! Service was great. Polite and attentive. Definitely will see us the 3^rd time.

Can’t beat the quality for an affordable price! Highly recommend the octopus salad. It’s terrific!

This place is pretty pricey but we didn’t get the service we expected. Our waiter paid very little attention to us and water were not even refilled after 30 minutes.
Food is just ok, similar level to any other seafood restaurants out there. I had the shrimp and lobster linguine. You don’t really get a lot of seafood with this dish, barely ate any lobsters. The pasta itself tastes no difference from any home-​made pasta.
Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place to my friends. I think it’s overrated!

This little gem near my home has it all: excellent food, attentive and friendly service, and a great atmosphere. You really can’t help but smile as soon as you walk into the place. The prices are a bit up there, but, hey, what did you expect for fresh seafood?
We started off with two dozen shucked oysters. They were fresh and really tasty. We also had the white wine mussels and grilled calamari and both were exquisite. The mussels tasted so tender and juicy– I’ve never had such delicious mussels anywhere, not even in Boston.
I ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Tagliatelli and was told by my brother that this dish is very popular at Diana’s. It had a lobster bisque taste to it and came with 3 – 4 gigantic shrimps and chunks of fresh lobster. The linguine-​like noodles tasted like they were homemade with the same attentiveness and care that mom puts in.
Service was speedy, welcoming and friendly. Our waiter was funny and attentive.
Definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone out there. Seafood lovers will fall in love even more!

For lunch had the lobster roll and clam chowder. Service was good and the coffee great. It is a shame with a store that has ‘fresh’ clams and lobster, the clam chowder was canned (if not canned a very poor imitation of fresh), few clams rolling around, under-​seasoned and nothing fresh on the top, such as ‘parsley’ to perk it up. The amount served was ‘small’ and served in an over-​sized bowl which certainly did not show it off.
The lobster roll was ‘premade’ and a bit soggy– the roll was not buttered/​toasted on the grill which is essential for a lobster roll and the lobster meat far too small in size – sadly, too, under-​seasoned. And the prices — way too much for the product.
Wish my comments were encouraging to those seeking out fresh and fabulous seafood for reasonable prices.

I’m so glad there’s such a place in Toronto for fresh oysters for cheap prices. I’d like to think of myself as somewhat of an oyster expert. They have a wide variety of both east/​west coast oysters. most cost between 1 – 2 $/​ea. Their fanny bay oysters are really good value for the price, and they are quite big compared to some of the other oysters they have. Kusshis and Kumamoto are also really good. I’m more of a fan of west coast oysters but their oysters from PEI are also worth a try, they’re a bit more salty though.
Overall, I hope this place never close down, because I would be their customer for life!

I went there to buy oysters and a sea bream for dinner. There were only a hand full of ppl in the store, including the cash area. At the same time, I was BBM-​ing back and forth with the office 15 feet away from the cash area (you have to make money before you spend them). All of a sudden, an older female cashier yelling at my direction. I didn’t know she was yelling at me. Apparently she was asking me if someone has weighted my fish. So I answered her with an assertive way: Yes, why? Then she said she just didn’t want me to walk back to the fish area…
I am sorry I may be a newbie at your store, but there are many seafood markets/​suppliers in Toronto and I don’t need your unnecessary attitude. I will stick with the fish market in my hood. GOODBYE!

This family business sells amazing seafood from oysters, mussels, lobster, and a wide variety of fish. Make sure you check their website for weekly specials and call to reserve so you don’t miss out. There were several times that I didn’t find the oysters or mussels I wanted for my meal and had to buy the next best thing.
The sell seafood at a reasonable price while supplying many restaurants across the city. New shipments are received twice a week for freshness (I believe Monday and Thursdays). I usually buy these plus specialty items like scallop and uni.
Definitely worth a try if you plan to have a party at home. They also have a restaurant next door which serve their fresh seafood. It’s not too fancy but the food is worth a try if you are lazy to cook. They also participate at festivals selling their fresh oysters but I rather buy and shuck.

Nice atmosphere, and friendly servers. I love the oysters! These oysters are as fresh as they get. I’d definitely come by again.
Mondays and Thursdays oysters are discounted.

We’ve been here multiple times and their seafood has never failed to impress. The fish is always fresh and you can get it cleaned and tidied up after you pay, on the side. The people working behind the counters are always so helpful and informed about the seafood and what would be good pairings. They sell crab cakes uncooked and cooked ones, both for $ 3.75 each, although do keep in mind they are smaller than the ones they would serve you next door. They have a large, well-​stocked variety of dried/​shelf goods — canned soups, wasabi, hummus, caviar.
Their fridges are stocked with oysters and clams usually by the 5 dozen, crab legs, stuffed crab shells, bags of frozen scallops, smoked salmon, etc.
Typically, they have around a dozen types of oysters out, in addition to clams, sea urchins, and scallops out on the glass. Their prices are very, very reasonable in comparison with their restaurant next door. Their medium Fanny Bay (BC) was $ 15.99 per dozen today and another medium BC one was $ 22.99 per dozen. You can’t just get one or two though, it’s by the half dozen, which /​can/​be a little hard if you only have one or two at the table.
Nonetheless, one of the best seafood markets I’ve ever been to — reasonable prices, excellent stock, and always fresh!

For all the time s i’ve been to Dianna’s — i’ve been moderately impressed. The issue i really find is that they don’t necessarily have the best seafood. But that’s only if you’re comparing it to organic and wild. If you’re comparing Diana’s to your local store, or T&T, then Diana’s is better by a landslide.
The difference in price is roughly +$ 2/​lb at Diana’s, or +$ 3/​lb at a wild/​organic store.
The difference in quality between the three is tremendous. Primarily, as you go up the price range, you get less fattier fish, and fish with more twitch muscles. At Diana’s, you’re sort of at the half way point.
Knowing this, you have a great selection at Diana’s, average fish cutting, and knowledgable staff with just above average seafood quality.

Came here to buy oysters again. Lot of west coast oysters which I love. The staffs are attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. Oysters are always fresh with abundant varieties. The staffs would check each oyster as they pack it for you. I have probably purchased close to hundred dozen from them, so far only got one foul oyster. I believe they hand picked them very well.

This is THE best place to get raw oysters! They sell them individually and in large boxes if you want to buy in bulk. They’ve always been stocked with whatever is in season at the moment but I would recommend coming early in the day if you want a better selection. I’ve had one instance where my boyfriend went there an hour or so before they were to close and there was no more oysters left! The uni here is also great and you can buy it still in the shell or de-​shelled (is that the right word?).
I’ve been to many of the oyster bars around Toronto who have admitted to getting their oysters from here so what better way to get them than right from the source for a fraction of the price!
The restaurant with the same name is also one of my favourites (ahem* lobster roll)

I was here and I didn’t even know where I was. Strip malls, big box retail, parking lots, wide byways, and light industrial parks: OK, I guess this is Scarborough? And then like a choir of AAAAAAAAAAAAA we were there. A stand alone restaurant with a fish market behind it.
This is the for market only: o, yez, the fish market smells as it should. At least 4 guys behind the fish-​cleaning counter, working with humour (happy fish mongers are a fantastic sign, according to a superstition that I just made up).There were also several friendly women in the centre island counter, too – an island that resounded with seafood.
We were there for the oysters. Our friends from Cape Breton told us that this was THE place for seafood. And so we arrived with oyster stars in our eyes.
Excellent prices. At least 8 varieties of oysters, many from PEI and at least two from BC. One had the brilliant name French Kiss which was delish and freshly shucked in front of us.
Staff was great, helpful and informative.
And the oysters? Briny, meaty, and extremely fresh. Fresh horseradish root there, too. I grated this and piled it on top of my oysters, added a squeeze of lemon and hot sauce. Cuz I roll like that: all condiments.
I didn’t try the fresh fish but I looked into their eyes. Very clear and plump eyes. That’s how you know it’s the goods.
