This is my first time getting a hair cut from Gondola after seeing very positive reviews from Unilocal.I was able to get an appointment with Tina on the weekend before Chinese New Year. Although there was a bit of wait, but I thought it was reasonable due to the time of the year. Overall, I am very satisfied with my hair cut and very impressed with Tina. She is very professional and pays lots of attention to detail. Even though she was over booked for the day, she still made sure enough time was spent on the hair cutting and styling. She also provided useful tips and suggestions on how I can maintain my hair based on my hair texture. I got lots of compliments on my new hair cut and the styling. I am very happy to find a stylist I can confidently return to for regular maintenance.

Got a haircut and an ombré hair dye job by Donna since Andy wasn’t feeling well that day. She took her time and didn’t talk much except when talking about way I wanted for my hair. My hair is super long like where my back ends so I understand how much dedication it takes to dye it but the colour has very harsh straight lines and is not at all natural looking. I paid 180 for the dye and haircut which is pretty good considering the work required but I will probably have to touch it up myself.

I’ve had all three stylists and they are all very good at what they do. Just make an appointment before hand and no waiting necessary. They’re very efficient and really attentive which is all I need.

This is the best kept secret in all of Toronto. I’ve always been in search of a good hair place — my hair grows super fast and I need a haircut on average once every 3 weeks. I’ve always taken pride in my hair/style, thus I was used to spending $ 25.00-$ 50.00 once/month to get quality haircuts. Gondola cuts my hair for less than half of what I would normally pay($ 9.00), and for the same, if not better quality than the more expensive salons. Andy is the GOAT hair stylist. He’s all business. None of that awkward forced small talk you usually get with other hairdressers. He simply asks you what style you want and gets the job done(you can show him a picture on your phone of what you want). On average he is able to finish cutting my hair in 15 minutes. Another great thing about Gondola is that they are always on time; they are always ready for my scheduled appointment time. Sure, this isn’t the fanciest/most luxurious place, but it gets the job in the most cost and time efficient way possible while maintaining a high standard of quality. Gondola is the key to success.

I’m always worried about hair stylists that can’t quiet cut Asian hair properly(we got really thick hair!). Over the years, I’ve pretty much given up on getting a good haircut. But my sister insisted on me checking this place out because it’s cheap and the stylist did a great job on her hair. So I listened and booked an appoint with Andy, the same stylist who cut my sister’s hair. I was pleasantly surprised that he didn’t botch the cut and the total came to $ 25. It is a bit cheaper than my usual place I go to at Pmall(around $ 40) so that was a plus. Overall, I’m pretty happy with my haircut, especially at the price I paid for.

Tried this place for the 1st time based on positive Unilocal reviews. I was really happy with the haircut that Andy gave me — I didn’t really have any specific style in mind, so I just told him the length that I wanted and let him do the rest based on what he thought looked good. I made an appt beforehand, so I didn’t have to wait at all, otherwise the place gets really busy on weekends! From the looks of it, the majority of customers who walked in were in their 20s-30s. I paid $ 25 for a cut(long hair) + tip. Will definitely be returning next time!

Just a regular salon nothing fancy but hair cut wash and style is about 40 without wash is 28 so it makes sense. Everyone is very friendly, but they all speak Chinese so if it bothers you when others speak their language in front of you then this may not be the salon for you. I had Andy do my hair. My appointment was for 4pm and had to wait 30min, so that was a downside and in between he had another girl blowdry my hair while he finished up with another client which i didn’t like, BUT for the money i paid and the fact that he did an amazing job Ill definitely be coming back. I also paid him $ 15 tip to show my appreciation for the great job he did. Ive posted pictures as well.

Came here because of the reviews, to my regret. After feeling for the shape of my head and me telling Andy I wanted a small trim, he took a razor to my head and took off an irreparable amount of hair. Long story short, my head looks like a cone. I normally don’t review, but I don’t want what happened to me to happen to someone else.

After a long search throughout the city, and finally finding great reviews about the hairstylists at Gondola’s, I made an appointment with Andy to get my hair cut, which turned out a complete success! Their customer service is great, and Andy is a superb professional! He interpreted exactly what I wanted and did an excellent job. My sister went with me, and she also ended up getting a haircut herself, since she saw how well Andy was working on my hair! So we both got out of there very happy and content! Big smiles on our faces and 5 stars for this small salon which is a real gem in Scarborough! Thank you Andy!!! I will definitely be back.

DONOTEVERGOHERETOGETYOURHAIRCUT. I believe the lady’s name was Susan. I went in having hair down to my butt with long V layers. I asked for an inch or two off, my hair is now to my boob and is a really sloppy job with regards to layers. My hair is round at the bottom, and has cutting indents around the bottom and side. It’s a nightmare! THEYHAVENOIDEAWHATTHEYAREDOING.

It’s best to book an appointment in advance before you go, as the place is very popular. I live close and decided to dye my hair. I read very positive reviews, however, most of them were about the low prices and quality haircuts. There was very little on colouring. I took a chance on it and decided get ombré-highlights. Tom did my hair. It was a little difficult to communicate with him, as English was not his first language but he was very patient and kind. I liked that he seemed to be focused on doing a good job rather than rushing through the 3 hour process. In the end, the highlights turned out quite nice, however it was a little more brassy than I would have liked. For $ 180, I would say that the results are good but not perfect.

Went back today. Another great haircut. I saw Tom again. I really like that there isn’t much small talk. He asks what I want and does it. Hair washed, cut, blow dried and cut again in 30 minutes. It’s perfect for me. They don’t push other services on you or try to get you to buy product. I love that! $ 30 for my ladies wash, cut & blow dry.

I’ve been coming here for a few years. The price is amazing, and I’m always happy with my cut. I always get my hair cut by Andy. The word is out, however, and you’d be wise to book an appointment — especially on weekends. Also, cash only.

Been looking for an Asian hairstylist close to my place for a long time. Heard really good things about Andy on Unilocal.Didn’t have to wait long since I had appointment, but there was a steady stream of customers(both old and new based on greetings) despite the nasty weather. I had something specific in mind and Andy was attentive to make sure he understood what I wanted. Thankfully not a lot of small talk so it was a very relaxing experience. $ 25 for cut(long hair) and $ 10 for wash. I didn’t have time to get my colour done and he was really busy but will come back again for another cut! PS — Most of the people speak Mandarin and/or Cantonese in addition to English. Andy speaks both pretty fluently.

As others I too went for this by looking at reviews. I am too picky when it comes to hair and have been trying different hairdressers. Being from Ottawa, its a tough job finding a good place in a much bigger city. Tom if I remember the name correctly, was detailed and knew every small thing without being told. I usually carry a pic or something while trying new places and he just did the job amazingly; exactly what I wanted, rather even better than that. You just can’t get better than that in 9 $. Even pricier places are not that good. Though its far by bus from where I live but I won’t mind going to place with such quality service and affordable price. One should definitely give it a try and I am sure you won’t be disappointed… keep it up.

I’m one of those types that get really attached to a hairdresser. In fact I’ve been going to the same one for over 10 years… Today I decided to take a risk and try a different place. I’ve read many good reviews about Gondola, particularly Andy and Tina. I called for an appointment late this afternoon and was able to get one with Tom. Gondola is in a small neighborhood plaza, and the parking lot was packed! I almost didn’t get a spot. But that’s probably because I hit it around dinnertime and there are several restaurants in the plaza. When I walked in, I was greeted immediately by the two stylists, who both had customers in the chairs. Another lady was waiting, she told me she’d been going there a few years and was very happy with her stylist(Andy), but that they all do great work. When Tom finished with his customer, he asked me to have a seat. He asked me what I wanted done today. Since it was my first visit, I opted not to go with anything too different. I’m a bit limited as to what kind of styles I can wear – my hair has become rather fine and thin from thyroid disease. He carefully examined my hair texture, and did the cutting very thoughtful and methodically. I really liked that he wasn’t in a rush to get the job done. Another thing I liked about this place is that the stylists weren’t working on their customers and«yap yap yapping» at the same time to the other stylists.(My old place did that a lot!). These guys gave their full attention to the customer. I think Tom did a really nice job. The total including tip came to $ 20. That’s an amazing price for a nice cut! Thanks to the crew at Gondola, especially Tom. I’ll be back.

Ok. This is an outdated old hair salon that doesn’t offer anything fancy, but has some real great talent. Located along Birchmount Rd just north of Sheppard, I came in for the first time to meet with Donna. I was nervous. As I was waiting I saw another stylist by the name of Andy doing an outstanding job. He seemed in a trance while cutting that lucky girl sitting in the chair. When she got up I had I comment on how great her hair was. She said Andy was the best. So now I’m sitting there thinking I made a mistake and almost wanted to ask if he could cut my hair instead, but I could tell he was booked. Donna was very friendly. She asked me what I wanted and did try her best to accommodate my request. She kept getting interrupted by other coworkers talking to her which made me nervous. The wash/cut and style took no longer than a half hour vs. Andy who takes about an hour and a half on a client. It wasn’t a bad hair cut, it was average and I did leave happy. Bill rounded up to 35.00 before tip.

I’ve been on a mission to find a good local hairdresser since my old one turned her business focus to exclusively cater to weddings some years ago. After numerous failed attempts at finding someone who can give me a good cut(is Asian hair really that much more difficult to cut?), I came to try Gondola based on Unilocal reviews. I made an appointment to see Tina and I must say, I am perfectly pleased with my cut. I am possibly the worst kind of client a hairdresser can ask for in some way. I don’t have a particular style in mind and don’t care if I keep it long or cut it short. My only request is that it is easy to take care of(19 month old toddler doesn’t give me a lot of time to fuss over my hair like the old days) and can be styled into something nice when I want to put the effort in. Tina ended up taking off quite of bit of length and layers to give me something much lighter and shorter than what I walked in with. I must say it was not a cut I was expecting but I really wasn’t expecting any particular style so I guess that says a lot about her as a stylist. I will definitely be returning to Tina to see how this cut grows out in the future.
