Wow… wow wow wow… WOW. I mean, I can’t… I can’t even begin to describe how amazing this intimate festival. Hidden within the remote protective natural surroundings of Cold Creek conservation, Feast of Fields is like Woodstock for foodies and Ontario made food and wine fans. The tickets for this event are pricey, but it all balances out at the end as once you arrive, all of your food samples, beer and wine samples are all free. Tons and tons of fresh produce and grocery(many of it sustainable and farm fresh) being cooked by top local chefs from Toronto, the GTA and surrounding areas. Celebrity chefs cooking at booths as if they were regular people! Tents after tents after tents of delicious, decadent treats. I mean if you don’t know about this now you know!!! My one criticism is that it is too remote for it’s own good, and most GPS devices cannot accurately locate Cold Creek. My advice would be to put up some larger signage around the King Township area at major intersections to help direct people. We spent 30 extra minutes once we arrived at where the GPS said we needed to be only to discover it was about 3KM south of where we had been taken. Pace yourself if you go, you’ll be full before you make your way fully around the festival. ALSO, PRO-TIP, when the early bird tickets go on sale… BUYTHEM! You save huge $$$ off the standard price. Eatcrest Way WAYYYYY Out(in Schomberg)

What a gorgeous day to spend outdoors eating and drinking the afternoon away! So many food, wine, and beer vendors. Pace yourselves, folks! I particularly enjoyed the seared albacore tuna by Vertical and the oysters shucked by Jason Kun of Island Oysters. Magic Oven had a really good vegan cassoulet. Beretta farms served a great braised beef with homemade kimchi on a cracker topped with pork crackling. I almost forgot the roasted peach topped with ice cream! Who made that? I can’t recall… Anna Olson was really friendly sharing scones with jam at the Bernardin tent. Everyone loves mason jars, right? Thanks to Unilocal, for the tickets! :)

I am really thankful to Unilocal and Kris U. for introducing me to this wonderful organic and local food and drink festival. I do want to mention that I got my tickets complimentary so almost everything was completely free for me. I loved most of the food stations. Some of them had top chefs from different restaurants in Toronto serving up some really delicious fare. I particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon from Hilton Toronto. A lot of the seafood at the event was sustainably sourced. The wild boar chorizo sausage by the Nobleton lakes golf club was really juicy. Loved the scones and jam which were based on Anna Olson’s recipes. I got to meet her in person too and she was very friendly! There were also a lot of cooking demonstrations throughout the event at the main stage. Almost every dish I had was presented beautifully. Apart from the food, the drinks at this event were surprisingly delicious. I had some of the organic VQA wines from the Niagara region and I really liked their Framboise dessert wine. The Muskoka wines were also equally yummy with a cranberry flavour. There was plenty of beer but you can tell I am not a beer fan. There were a lot of non-alcoholic options too like smoothies and really creamy chocolate milk. All in all a spectacular event! I do think it’s a bit too pricey though. If they had a separate pricing for food and no drinks that might have been a good option for those who were designated drivers. $ 100 is a bit too steep if you are not going to be drinking.
