I had a chicken kebob with almazza beer and enjoyed them. The staff were charming and respectful. I would highly recommend this Mediterranean restaurant.

Newer local Mediterranean Greek style restaurant. Saw the good reviews and checked it out. We have been to Greece twice. Small inside but nice. In a strip mall. Quiet and good for couples. Was busy on a Friday. Mediterranean music playing was nice. Service was excellent. Food was average however. Our Shawarma was very spicy for some reason and I’m no slouch. Had the burps for hours. The rice was good. The Labneh salad had too much vinegary dressing and there was very little feta cheese. Their Greek salad is not true Greek as it comes with lettuce and they skimp on the feta. Good place to try once.

Excellent presentation. Restaurant sparkled. Service classy. We had the grilled halloume cheese. Extremely salty, and I normally like salty. Wouldn’t have it again. I liked the fried kibbie. It’s a spiced meatball that was reminiscent of tourtière for me. Would have again. We had sujuk on hummus. By far our favourite. We would make a special trip for this dish. So delish and very savoury. The fourth appetizer we had was Mohamra. We didn’t like it because it was far too sweet. I thought it was supposed to be a spicy and sweet dish. It looked and had the texture and taste of sweetened refried beans. Bland and sweet. We shared the Fatoush salad. My hubby really liked the deep fried pita bits in it. I wasn’t so sure. A bit greasy for me. The salad was otherwise a winner for me. All in all we were really pleased and thought those things we didn’t like came down to personal preferences.

After reading the great reviews for this restaurant, my son and I were excited to try it! We started with an order of calamari to share. Obviously from frozen(it looked and tasted dry), it came with a small plastic take-out container(complete with the lid) that contained the dipping sauce. I ordered the shawarma combo and my choice of sides were fries and Greek Salad. The Greek salad looked good even with the powdery feta on top. I was eager to dive in to it and extremely disappointed with the flavour. I couldn’t even taste the feta beyond the over powering vinegar dressing. Definitely not a Greek dressing. The meal itself was mediocre even though the meat was somewhat dry. My son ordered the chicken shawarma with the Greek salad and rice as his sides. He said that the rice tasted like Uncle Ben’s. The service however, was really good.

Greggs’ is simply amazing! In fact, the entire reason that sparked me to download Unilocal in the first place! In my lifetime I have had the pleasure of traveling numerous places worldwide, and have lived in Europe for a short while– all of which gave me the opportunity to sample many different cultural foods & dishes and dine in many different atmospheres and locations. I have to say, though, Gregg’s has got to be one of my favourite restaurants if not my favourite indefinitely. From the atmosphere, to the friendly service, & the large portions of food for a very fair price, I’d recommend it to anyone! I generally get the fattoush salad when I’m there, being that it is no word of a lie the best salad I’ve ever had(I’m quite the salad connoisseur if I do say so myself) though, have tried other things like most of the appetizer plates & the vegetarian wrap & donair– all of which have been equally as tasty, consistently. And seeing as the portion sizes are so large, I always have at least another meals worth of leftovers the next day! bonus! the staff there is all so kind and genuine, it really is just the icing on the cake(or rather the syrup on top of the Baklava) To add, it’s always clean and cozy, never too painstakingly busy, and service is right on par! The best part id have to say though is the homeliness atmosphere. The hospitality of the staff accompanied by complementary fruit plate after the odd meal, such a great touch! It’s so nice to see small business doing such honest things– I find nowadays we are all so used to thinking it reasonable to pay $ 25.00 for a bowl of noodles, that when come by a place like so are startled by the prices & such. But nonetheless I felt it necessary to write a review because I passionately want their business to flourish because it is sooo well deserved to say the least; I’m unsure as to why it’s not packed to the rafters every night! Though, Ive noticed any business that finds its way into that strip mall never really lasts, and if it does is just striving to do so, & for whatever odd reason that may be, regardless I genuinely hope that there isn’t reason enough to keep them in business and rolling steady! though, I will add– I just wish there was more stars to give, because if so this would be a shining 8⁄5

Very quiet on the night my husband and I decided to dine. I think we were the only table at the time. Service was a little slow for us being the only table but the waitress was very friendly. We had the hummus to start it was delicious so I was excited for our mains. My husband had the full chicken dinner and I the tabouli salad, as I was planning on sharing some of his chicken. The salad was delicious but his chicken was way over cooked dry and chewy. We don’t like to complain but couldn’t choke it down. The waitress was very nice about it but they couldn’t cook us another one because they didn’t have any more chicken? They took it off the bill but my husband still went home hungry. Not sure if we will give this place another try. We do like to support local and stay away from the chains but not sure if this place is worth another try.

My wife has been raving about Gregg’s for months, but other than donairs, I’m not usually a big fan of Mediterranean food as a sit down meal. One day though, she brought home some left over hummus and I was hooked. The amazing roasted garlic flavour with fresh pita was out of this world. We went in for dinner and were blown away. It was a monday night, so the only waitress was the owner and there were only 2 tables, so the service was great. We got the hummus to start and then a sharing platter for 2 as our meal. It was with 3 skewers each(2 beef, 2 chicken, and 2 meatball(kafta?) then rice and fatuous salad. The skewers were all amazing, the marinade on the meats really shone through. My favourite was the meatball skewers, they were amazingly seasoned. I would definitely order them again. The fatuous salad was fresh and delicious with fried pita in it, a nice little crunchy surprise. I hear they are busier on other nights of the week, and on the weekends they even serve Hukka. Overall a really great experience, I love seeing new different places like this pop up in sherwood park.

Gregg Mediterranean Restaurant offers huge portions and friendly service, but the food there is average at best. They use frozen vegetables for their sauteed veg, for goodness sake! I was very concerned when I heard the microwave beep in the kitchen for nothing that I ordered should have required microwaving. They tasted like crap. Enough said. I’m glad to have tried this place out, but I won’t likely return until they fix the frozen vegetable issue. Also, the Western desserts might be prepared offsite by one of those awful food service companies. A few simple fixes will help improve things a great deal at Gregg Mediterranean Restaurant.

Excellent, very flavourful food. Great service. My husband and I wanted to try something different and decided to try Mediterranean food. We were pleasantly surprised and are excited to come back. We will be regulars for sure.

We found ourselves in Sherwood Park today around 6 p.m., and so checked Unilocal for a possible supper locations. The reviews convinced us to give Gregg a try, and we were not disappointed. We ordered the Mezza 8 pc., picking hummus, calamari, labneh, baba ganoush, lebanese chicken wings, stuffed grape leaves, haloumi, falafel plus a greek salad. The stars of the plate were the labneh and falafel, followed closely by the chicken wings and grape leaves. The hummus and calamari were good, but a little blander than the rest. We also ordered the rice pudding, based on the reviews, and it was very nice and aromatic. This is one of those small, local places that are a delight to find. We’ll go back and I’ll definitely have both the falafel and labneh again as well as try some of their skewers.

We decided to try take-out but we’ll be coming back to dine-in! They have a belly dancer on Friday evenings. Very friendly staff and the food we ordered(fattoush salad w/chicken, lamb kebabs, order of hummus) was delicious.

Really decent spot. Strange location but the food was unreal and the price was super cheap for the quality. I had the falafel pita and my friend had the chicken shwarma — both were super tastey with a really great flavour. Would definitely go back.

Interesting name for a restaurant who’s owner is not named Greg. After enquiring with the owners about the name, I was told that this newly opened restaurant in the former Café de Ville Sherwood Park location, is named after one of the top restaurants in Beirut Lebanon. Big shoes to fill and big reputation to try to duplicate. First let me start with letting you know that I am of Lebanese decent and regularly eat an prepare mid-eastern foods. As can be expected, I looked at Gregg Mediterranean’s menu with a bit of apprehension, having been too often disappointed by similar restaurants. I went there for lunch with my friend who was not very familiar with mid-east cuisine. The menu dishes’ ingredients are partially listed but the dishes themselves are not well described. When I asked the waitress about how some of the dishes are prepared, she was not sure and I believe may have guessed. I say this because whe I asked if the cheese sambusik was in phylo pastry and fried, she said it was phylo but baked. It was not phyli and was fried. That said, it was delicious and I highly recommend it. The pastry was buttery and flaky. The cheese perfectly melted and mixed with parsley and spices. We ordered a salad each and were more than grateful that the waitress recommended we have half orders as we also ordered a half mezze platter. The half orders were only $ 4.00 each and could have been a meal by themselves! I had the tabouli, which surprised me by being made with regular white onions instead of green onions. It was still quite good and I would definitely order it again. My friend had the fattoush, I stole a bite and it was perfect with just the right amount of summac used. Our mezze platter came with the above mentionef sambusik, kibbe, spinach fatayers, and haloumi cheese. There were 4 of each mezze and various Lebanese pickles, cucumber slices and tomatoes. The fresh veggies were perfect and ripe! Nice surprise for January in Alberta. The kibbe was a tasty mix of ground beef, cracked wheat, onions and allspice, offered in nice size balls and unbelievably well stuffed, not half empty like others that I have tasted. The spinach fatayer were not as well stuffed. They could use a bit more spinach in them but they were very tasty and not too lemony. The halloumi cheese was nice and chewy, well spiced but a bit too salty for my taste. It could have used a bit of soaking or rinse to remove some of the saltiness. Accompanying our meal were a basket of pita and dipping yogurt/sour cream(no extra charge). We were also given a complimentary hummous. After the meal we were given a small plate of sliced apples and bananas, lightly sprinkled with caramel and chocolate sauce. The waitress told us that everyone gets a complimentary fruit nappy. What a lovely touch. The fruit eas quite tasty and the sauce was just the right amount to make plain fruit more exciting. There is a nice dessert menu with cakes, baklava, and rice pudding. I had my heart set on the rice pudding but they had run out and I was told that they were making more later on in the day. I was disappointed but figured I would survive. My friend ordered a Monte Cristo coffee(it was delicious according to her). We stayed to chat and enjoy the warm fireplace as she sipped on her coffee. Ten minutes later, the eaitres came to let us know that if we stayed a bit longer, the chef would have some fresh pudding for us, on the house! Of course we waited! They brought us to «to-go» containers filled with hot rice pudding, which I devoured as soon as I got home! It was rose-water scented and lightly dusted with cinnamon. Mmm, a perfect ending to a delicious meal. Just like my Teta(grandma) used to make! This is definitely a «must go to» restaurant with generous and tasty dishes. They know what good customer service is and go beyond it!

A girlfriend and I decided to do a «ladies who lunch» afternoon and chose this new restaurant in Sherwood Park. We did so with some trepidation as my friend is Egyptian/Lebanese and knows what good mediterranean food should taste like. So, did it pass her taste test? Well, first let me tell you what I thought. The menu was interesting but I didn’t understand what most of the dishes were. It would have been nice to have a bit of a description of what the dishes contained for us, the uninitiated. I was able to get the advice and input from my friend and I chose a half order of the Fattoush, my friend chose the tabouli salad and we shared a half mezza. For the half mezza we chose grilled halloume cheese, fried kibbie, spinach fatayer and cheese sambusik. If you like Greek saganaki, you will love the grilled halloume cheese. It is soooo salty and nummy! I stuffed my warm pita bread with the cheese and some of my fattoush for a tasty treat! The fried kibbie was moist, flavourful and was amazing with some of the complimentary hummus they brought out for us or the yogurt dip that came with the mezza. I enjoyed the fattier and the sambusik as well, the pastry was flavourful and was obviously not a prepackaged type. My friend wanted to try their rice pudding but there was none ready, but after chatting for a while at our table, the waitress came back and said if we were willing to wait about 10 minutes, the chef was just finishing up a batch. About 15 minutes later the waitress appeared with two to-go containers. They were well worth the wait, as it was absolutely delicious. Our lunch was very reasonable and came to $ 54 for the two of us, including two drinks. Now back to my friend. Apparently, this is food just like her Gramma used to make. I think that qualifies as a high compliment!

The restaurant name is misleading. This place is very, very good. My wife and I went for lunch and had the dinner for two. We had Kafka, chicken, and beef skewers, as well as Greek salad, and grape leaves(better known as dolmades). Meat was cooked perfectly, rice and meat seasoned in balance without one spice overpowering the dish. Also the garlic dip is very good. We finished off with baklava. It is quite obvious everything is made in house. Highly recommend.
