Klahanie Campground

We booked about 1 month in advance for Kalhanie Campground. Mainly it was a test for our new popup trailer. Our site was clean and had plenty of space for our SUV and popup trailer. Pleasantly surprised by how great the some of the views are., just steps from most sites. Our only issue was the cost of the showers, not a big deal though. We will definitely be returning.

I recently spent a few days in Squamish and at the last minute our last day motel reservations fell through. No motel or hotel within 100 km to be found. We had camping gear with us so next we turned to camping spots. All camp grounds were full (busy weekend). We pulled into Klahanie camp grounds and the couple running the place were beyond helpful. They felt bad that we were looking at sleeping in our car so they drove through the grounds and found us a spot tucked away which worked out wonderful. The bathroom had hot water so that’s a huge plus and they were clean. They made our last night comfortable, thank you! It is a busy place but it met our needs and the staff was outstanding.

My girlfriend and I originally planned to go to Porteau Cove but instead were disappointed that it was actually already full by the time we got there. we stumbled upon this place and it turned out to be great!
We got a really good tent site with a half decent Oceanview with some trees in the way but it still looks awesome.
Really happy with the price and the location, very secluded and private, will definitely return.

We stayed at B10 which actually was an okay site other than difficult to get into with a fifth wheel as we had to turn around a very tight area then reverse up a hill to get into it. All other sites seemed very close together, glad we didn’t have at any of those sites.
The water pressure was very low and electricity was only 13 amps which we managed to blow as we used our kettle and toaster at the same time during breakfast.
This place is fine if you’re here for a night or two which is what we were doing. We probably won’t be back again. We’ve stayed at better places in Squamish but thought we would give this place a try as it was across the road from Shannon Falls.

Used to go there 10 years ago and it was a nice campsite, now it is a dump, The place has gone down hill, the office is in rough shape, the live in people there start motor cycles up at 6 in the morning, the lady manning the wood pile the last trip was so drunk she couldn’t open the lock for wood. The payment box was a joke. The restrooms a mess, landscape has been let go .They should just keep to renting to live in’s and not try to represent this as a recreation campsite. Felt like I was camping in a getto

Booked a site a month in advance through their online form page. Received a response the next day that our reservation was confirmed. Since we had 5 people and three cars they had put us in a «double» site that was huge! I have stayed here prior in one of their smaller sites but the site this trip was P4 and it was great! Right on the river, bathrooms close, private, and big enough for 5 tents and 4 cars. Ask for the Sites down by the river, I think they are P1−10.

It was the only place left in the area so we were kind of stuck.
It was ok but nothing to write home about. Friendly people but we were stuffed into a site and really there was alot of room elsewhere on the property that they could have offered which would have been less squishy.
I probably wont go looking to stay here again.

Un-​level site that was difficult to get to (reverse downhill around blind corner between trees and rocks, unlikely a truck/​ute could make turn), very low water pressure (less than trailer’s 12V pump can manage), sketchy electrical box. We were told $ 43 a night did not include sewer, but according to their own website it should have been $ 39.20 a night HST inc. for no sewer. Showers were infested with huge flying insects and the occasional spider. Was promised a «view», which ended up being a view of pine trees surrounding site. Cigarette butts in the steel truck rim fireplace. Pot-​hole ridden access roads, lots of decrepit old trailers, Wifi only accessible under HV powerlines running past office, not accessible from any available camp site.
Manager gouged us on the price then asked for favorable Google and Unilocal reviews.
Would not recommend under any circumstances.

We’ve been on a 3 month long road trip through the US & CN and this has to be one of the worst campgrounds we’ve stayed at. When you first pull up it appears to be somewhat dumpy, but once you drive through the campground it is definitely dumpy!!! The roads through the campground were very bad, the campsites were close together, there were many long time residents and in general the place was the pits!!! We would rather stay at a Walmart parking lot than this place again. The wireless was NON Existent and the price for this campground is so expensive for what you get that we feel totally ripped off.

Our Church was having a «Family Camp» here, so we decided to see if our schedules could make it work, seeing as how we love camping!
I do have to admit, I was a little turned off by this place but the photos I saw. Power lines near the campsite, not what I had in mind, and not something I wanted to have my little guy around…
We mad it work for a one night stay. We arrived at 4pm and stayed until noon the next day.
Pros:
1. Huge campground itself
2. Across the way from Shannon Falls
3. Beautiful River
4. Spacious campsites
5. Surprisingly, clean washrooms and hot showers
6. Not many bugs!
Cons:
1. No fishing!
Overall, great site minus the no fishing option.

Maybe it was just that weekend in particular — but we were truly disappointed. The beautiful views the website rants about were filled with power lines. The drone of motorcycles and trucks all night kinda took away from the whole camping feel. The campsites had barely enough trees to tie tarps to let alone obscure your view of your super close neighbors. There were more cars around us than trees to be honest. Most sites were small and surrounded by road, there was even a campsite directly beside the sewage storage tank. EW. And for being that close to the water you think there would be a path down to it. Nope. They do allow campfires, and the toilets were flushable and well maintained. There was also a sink for washing dishes which was nice. There seem to be a few fairly decent walk in sites close to the water which would make a stay here bearable if you decided to go for it. They are pretty private, in the trees and would be quieter — but close to a cliff, so no kids for sure.
