Update: Tobiko came out if the gate quite strong, however, I’ve not enjoyed my last 2 or 3 visits(spaced widely because I’d been dissatisfied, then decided to give them another chance incase it was a fluke). If you want really good sushi in the area, there’s better just down Fraser highway. Or get cooked rolls. Dancing lion is quite nice with tempura prawns, cucumber inside and masago on top. The gyu Don & noodle bowls are nice too, and very good value. Service is always friendly and menu prices are good. So if you live in Clayton & just want to walk to dinner or lunch, Tobiko is a fair choice. They also have slush with the option of adding bubbles and on a hot day, this alone is worth the visit.

My husband’s miso soup was cold, and my tuna sashimi looked and tasted a bit«off». One experience, but we won’t go back.

I am going to start by saying there are plenty of unique food items here. However, the quality is only ok. Within 10 minutes of driving I can think of at least 3 better sushi places for the price. There is nothing wrong with this restaurant and the food is fresh but I like options of purple rice, sockey salmon, and sunomonos. The rolls are fancy but I would describe them as mediocre and the sauces and sunomono have quite a bit more sugar than most places and, personally, I am not a huge fan of sweet sushi. In a crunch I would order from here again but then again, there are a lot of better places for the same cost. We are sushi spoiled here after all.

I love this place! It has a great atsmosphere to great food! As soon as you walk in someone is saying hello to you. They bring you and drinks right away. Soon after you order your food comes so your not waiting forever for your food even when it’s busy. The sushi rolls are amazing. So much creativity into them. The prices are so good. You get a lot for your money. I never leave disappointed. What makes this place different too is all the pictures on the wall which makes it unique. This is my to go sushi place.

Best sushi place within the Clayton heights neighborhood! The price is pretty standard for sushi restaurants but the quality is superb! Koodos to the chef. The waitresses are super nice girls

Living in Clayton is great because there are plenty of shops and restaurants walking distance. There are now 3 sushi spots available to us Clayton residents now that there is a Tobiko 2 in town. Upon entry, staff was quick to welcome us in the door and have us seated. The first thing I noticed is their cleanly environment. It’s simple, yet fun and welcoming. It’s not a huge place, but I’d like to see how it handles on busier days. Customer service gets an A in my book because our server was very attentive to our needs and always came to check up on us! The perfect amount of service too. She was not too overbearing, but attentive to the customers! Once food was delivered in a timely manner. It tasted fresh and was plated well too! You can tell the chefs took their time to serve a nice, tasty plate! For this visit we only ordered 2 dishes. The Chicken Katsu with rice and salad and the Spicy Tuna and Salmon Combo, which had additional Kappa Rolls on the side. Both were of good size and taste! I will definitely return to Tobiko 2 and try more things on their menu and hope to provide more great reviews to my fellow Unilocalers! It’ll be interesting to see how they match up or beat their competitors Denji Sushi.
