After much deliberation, I finally tried the infamous PRP treatment at Beauty Bar Thornhill and I can honestly say that it’s been *THE* most life changing and effective treatment for my skin. More effective than any facial, microdermabrasion and hydrafacial combined (although all these are good for maintenance) but not even close in comparison to the for dramatic results I got with PRP. Yes, the thought of extracting blood, centrifuging it and re-​applying it back in your face through microneedling sounds dramatic for sure, but on the pain scale I’d rate it a 3⁄10.
It is an expensive treatment; however, I have experienced a 70% reduction on MILD acne scarring on both sides of my cheeks. I was really nervous at first, but the nurse performing the procedure, Nurse Roza is so sweet and competent. She’s been doing PRP for a while and has even trained people internationally on this procedure, so I knew i was in safe hands.
Do not confuse this PRP treatment with another «vampire facial» trend that involves injecting filler in your face. This is not that. This involves using your own blood to heal/​regenerate skin.
The procedure:
—Roza wiped my face and applied numbing cream
–Blood was extracted from my arm and subsequently centrifuged
–The platelets extracted and we started the procedure, which was a systematic microneedling of one area then the application of the platelets on top to start the healing process. I was really scared to do it under the eyes but it was the best thing I have ever done for my dark circles.
–After the procedure, i was sent post-​procedure instructions.
** Warning: don’t plan anything afterwards but go straight home. Your face will look bruised/​a bit swollen but by the next day you can go back to your usual makeup routine. It will take a few days for you to see «the glow” – but it’s real. Best results will come even a few weeks after the procedure.
I can’t wait to do it again. This is the best preventative treatment out there.

I had a great experience at beautybar. Had my 2nd vampire facial and it completely changed my skin! I was suffering from acne scaring texture and pore issues and this saved my skin!
Ask for Rosa if possible as she is wonderful! Great prices too. I will be getting my 3rd treatment in 6 weeks and will write a follow-​up to let you know my final results.

More of a tanning salon that provides other spa services. It’s not a large location, so on warm days, it’s very hot in there. The décor was very nice, very Ikea.
The attendant was professional, but very busy. I don’t think the phone stopped ringing the whole time I was there! Perhaps they need a second person on busy evenings. I left a message and my call wasn’t returned for 2 days. The other Beauty Bar I left a message with never returned my call.

NOT «Pain Free» (for me)
Despite being advertised as «pain free», I felt pain during most of the laser hair removal treatments on my underarms: it felt like continuously shocking pin pricks. I would brace myself and endure most procedures, although the pain lessened to discomfort after several treatments had thinned out my otherwise thick and coarse hair.
After 6 treatments I am not hair free, but I won’t be returning unless they can offer me a good deal and better quality services.
They told me that it takes up to 12 sessions to be hair free, and that the hair might grow back if they are triggered by hormones (in which case, I would require additional touch up treatments).
Customer service is inconsistent.
After 6 visits and some phone calls, I met two staff members who are generally rude, indifferent, and surly (ie. acting annoyed and curt when asked to reschedule an appointment, being indifferent when I said I felt some pain during the laser hair removal treatment, rushing through treatments, etc), and two staff members who have been decently mannered and courteous (ie. explaining things and answering questions, checking the laser machine after discovering I was experiencing slight pain, doing a more thorough job than their co-​workers, etc.).
They have not replied to any of the e-​mails I sent through «Contact Us» on their website.
They also tend to not call back when you leave a message on their answering machine.

If I could give it negative stars, I would, I have never had such terrible customer service in my life! They have a revolving door of receptionists and technicians and there’s a reason why: it is one of the most poorly managed places I have come across. They take your money and treat you like garbage.
I was a bit sceptical about getting a group buy coupon for laser hair removal (full legs) but since it was more expensive than some of the others I’d seen and it was a well-​known name attached to Bellair I thought I’d be safe. WRONG!!!
The receptionists are not trained, some are rude and most of them will give you incorrect information on the policies. This leads to you not being able to use your coupon the way it was intended and when you point out that it was their communication mistake they play dumb and say you must contact the manager. You can only contact the manager via a general email address which no one answers. They are also always gossipping with the technicians and making you wait unnecessarily while they chat. Two of the receptionists actually told me they had had complaints from many other customers as well.
Now let’s talk about the technicians. The first one I had couldn’t wait to get out of there. She spent a total of 15 minutes on my FULL LEGS (it should be atleast 30 min.) and disgusted me by telling me how women who don’t have Brazilian laser or waxing smell bad. I hadn’t even brought anything of the sort up, she was incredibly unprofessional. Then once I showed up for an appointment that I had booked weeks in advance and after 20 min. of waiting the the receptionist finally decides to tell me that no technician showed up. No one had bothered to call me to let me know or apologize and they made no attempt to get another technician. I had one good tech. but I never saw her again.
All in all it was a horrible experience that brought me a lot of stress and frustration. I have had laser at other places and never had to endure any of this and have gotten better hair removal results. Please learn from my mistake.
