There is nothing worse than buying a laptop, having a cat knock it off a table and breaking the plug for the DC power jack adapter within the first 4 days of buying it… Taking it back to Best Buy, they told me the warranty didn’t cover it and it would be $ 250 to replace the plug on top of requiring it to be sent away which would take some time as well. It hurt a lot to know that fixing a single plug would cost almost half as much as I paid for the entire laptop. Luckily I found MT Systems through Craigslist and gave them a ring. Considering Best Buy told me that they’d have to send it away before even knowing if they could fix it, I was put at ease when MT Systems told me this was an everyday repair for them and that I’d have the laptop ready for pick up next day. Literally that day I made the trek out to Thornhill and dropped off my laptop. When I went to pick it up at the same time then next day, the laptop was still out being repaired by their technician. I was a little frustrated as I drove out that far to pick it up, but luckily the owner called his tech and sure enough it was back in the store within 15 minutes. Not only was the DC jack replaced perfectly, but they even glued together the actual plastic casing on the laptop side near the plug, making it almost unnoticeable that there was ever any damage to the computer to begin with. All this for only $ 100, and my laptop has worked like a charm ever since. So in the end, considering that I felt like the jack-ass of the century for letting the cat break a brand new laptop to begin with, I was able to actually feel okay about the whole thing since it was a good deal compared to my other option. I can’t vouch for anything else this place does, but given how well they sorted me out on the DC jack front I’d recommend them for general laptop repairs. Thanks, MT Systems!
