Historique

Fondé en 1971.

An enterprising fellow named Joe Gillon opened Allegro Music in the winter of 1971 in the basement of our current location. He built two teaching rooms at the back of the Cavalier Barber Shop, taught some guitar lessons and rented out a few Yamaha guitars. In 1975, Joe moved Allegro Music upstairs to its current location.

In 1983, Herman Mallinger bought the store. He taught violin and woodwinds and his daughter Rosyl taught piano.

After spending 20 years as an employee of Allegro Music, Frank Cretaro decided it was time for a change. So when Herman put the store up for sale, Frank seized the opportunity and became the third owner of Allegro Music.

From our humble beginnings, we have grown into one of Toronto’s most respected and diversified music stores and schools.
