AtinamA Massage Therapy

I have been seeing Monica for two years and she knows what she is doing. She has helped me deal with chronic tightness is my upper back and neck from sitting at a desk and tight glutes and hips from lack of stretching after tough workouts.
The previous review is quite one sided and only one persons opinion. I recommend you try for yourself. Also, if you don’t like what your therapist is doing, tell them. It’s your money so you should get what you want and enjoy it. I find people are too afraid and that is why they never go back.

I have been going to a lot of various massage therapists this year, and this is by far the worst one I have ever been to. I actually felt more pain then when I left, but not in a good way the way you feel after a really deep massage.
As if the bad massage wasn’t a sufficiently unpleasant experience, she felt it necessary to grease up half of my head. While I have had therapists massage the back of my head to relieve the neck pain, she dug her massage oil covered hands through my hair above my ears. I had to actually ask her to stop.
Thereafter she concluded in the most unprofessional, fear mongering manner that I had very bad spine curvature — scoliosis — that I needed to attend to immediately. I saw a physiotherapist for a long time in the past, a professional with an actual medical degree, who mentioned the «common slight unevenness in my back» that could benefit from stretching and strengthening the muscles. This woman, with little qualifications on the subject, and without having done any sort of analysis of my posture or range of motion thought it was her duty to share her poorly informed opinion with me as fact. So, besides being terrible at actually massaging, she tried to overreach her qualifications. I can’t imagine how much she might have frightened me had I not spent a year working with a physiotherapist and was familiar with the subject.
My advice, go somewhere else.
