Atlantic Vein Clinics is a state-​of-​the-​art facility providing the latest technological advances in treatment of Varicose Veins, specializing in Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) or Ablation (EVLA).

Many clinics treat Varicose and Spider Veins just as a «cosmetic issue» by adding varicose veins treatments to the other cosmetic services they provide.

We at Atlantic Vein Clinics — look at the problem of Varicose and even Spider Veins differently. Both are signs of a medical condition known as Venous Insufficiency and therefore Venous Insufficiency should be correctly diagnosed and treated appropriately. Other symptoms of this condition include leg heaviness and fatigue, leg and foot pain and numbness, restless legs, skin discoloration and ulceration, or swollen ankles.

If left undiagnosed or incorrectly treated Venous Insufficiency may result in serious and even life-​threatening complications.

Historique

Fondé en 2005.

Dr. Alexander Matz — the founder of our centre — is a general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive procedures. He was the first in Nova Scotia to perform Laparoscopic Splenectomy, Laparoscopic Repair of Large Paraesophageal Hearnias, Different types of Laparoscopic Colectomy, Local excision of rectal lesions by transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM), Laparoscopic treatment for surgical emergencies such as Bowel Obstructions and Perforated Ulcers, etc.

Dr. Matz was the first in Atlantic Canada to introduce Endovenous Laser Therapy (Ablation) for treatment of Varicose Veins and currently we have the experience of successfully treated thousands of cases. Currently, we have satellite clinics in several locations in Nova Scotia — Halifax, Mineville and in Ontario — Toronto, Richmond Hill, Lindsay.

Dr. Alexander Matz — the founder of our centre — is a general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive procedures.

As a General Surgeon, Dr. Matz successfully treats different varieties of varicose and «spider» veins by a combination of non-​invasive techniques such as Endovenous Laser Therapy and Sclerotherapy, with minimally invasive surgical procedures such as Mini-​Phlebectomy.

Dr. Matz has been certified by the Royal College of the Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

He holds a Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and The American College of Surgeons. Dr. Matz is also a member of the American College of Phlebology, the International Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Canadian Association of General Surgeons.
